Ford F150 Sync 4 APIM Module

Special Tool(s) / General Equipment

Removal
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

All vehicles

1. NOTE: 12 inch screen shown, 8 inch screen is similar. Release the clips and remove the upper centerstack bezel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover.

2. Release the clips and remove the RH instrument center trim panel.

   • On vehicles equipped with push button start disconnect the electrical connector. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
     
     Vehicles equipped with a floor console

3. Remove the floor console.
   Refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

4. Remove the lower centerstack trim panel.

   • Remove the bolts.
   • Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
   • Release the clips.
   • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
     
     Vehicles without a floor console

5. Remove the pin-type retainers and the RH lower instrument panel closeout trim panel.
   

6. Remove the bolt.
   Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
   

7. Release the clips and remove the instrument panel lower trim panel.
   

8. Release the clips and remove the LH lower centerstack trim panel.
   Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
   

9. 9. Release the clips and remove the RH lower centerstack trim panel.
   Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
   

10. Remove the lower centerstack trim panel.

    • Remove the bolts.
    • Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
    • Release the clips.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
      

11. Disconnect the electrical connectors, remove the screws and the APIM.
    

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. If a new APIM is being installed, program the APIM to the correct software level.
