Ford F-150 Trailer Brake Control Module
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
NOTE:
It is necessary to replace the Trailer Module (TRM) with the one found in the
kit. Failure to do so will result in errors when trying to configure the TRM.
INSTALLATION
CONNECT WITH DEVICE
NOTE: DO NOT RUN PMI OR TRM Configuration.
NOTE:
It is necessary to follow the process outlined below as it is a different
process as vehicles are built with the TRM.
- Open Ford Diagnostic Repair System (FDRS) and Identify the vehicle.
- Go to the Toolbox.
- Select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
- Check IPC for software updates.
- Update IPC if an update is available.
- Download and Run the IPC-Towbar Configuration.
- Select fixed Towbar.
- Select a genuine module (Ford).
- Follow the screen prompts.
- Select the liftgate type.
- Follow the screen prompts.
- After successful completion select Exit to end configuration.
- Select Body Control Module (BCM).
- Select BCM-Towbar Configuration.
- Verify that the vehicle is built without a Class IV trailer tow and select Yes.
- Select Fixed Towbar.
- Follow the screen prompts to complete programming.
- After successful completion select Exit to end configuration.
- Scan and clear any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Validate the installation by making sure the trailer gain is present or a message indicating that “Trailer Disconnected” is displayed in the IPC when the TBC switch is pressed.
- To initialize the towing menu on the SYNC screen, turn the vehicle off and manually set the lights to off. The menu will then show when the vehicle’s ignition is on after a trailer gets connected.
