Chainsaw mill winch – Item nr. 9064332
Description: Smart winch system for mini saw mills – the towing system consists of a turning handle, a rod and 12.5 m of wire. The turning handle is mounted on the sawmill itself, while the rod is screwed to the other end of the tree trunk. Once you have put the wire in the carabiner, you can ‘pull’ the saw through the tree trunk, so you get an even and stable pull through the entire trunk. This makes the cutting of planks much easier, and ensures a fine, straight cut. The winch system can be used for tree trunks up to 6 meters long.
Intended use: The equipment may only be used as described in these operating instructions, all other use is considered incorrect.

Attaching winch handle to frame

  • Step 1: Attach handle and knob assembly to winch arm using two washers (9) and NY lock hex nut (15). Use internal hexagonal wrench to hold handle while tightening hex nut. Tighten and adjust until handle turns freely.
  • Step 2: Insert winch arm assembly onto axle with spec washer (9) and Cap nut No14. Secure winch spindle using friction lock screw (32) and spring (33).
Winch is now ready to mount onto mill.

Mounting winch on sawmill

Loosen coupling and nylock nuts (parts securing thickness rails to end brackets and on-off bar). Please note orientation of mill.

Place two carriage bolts (item 6,the longer ones of the CRG bolts,IMPORTANT) in channel of thickness rail as shown.

P-Lindberg-9064332-Chainsaw-Mill-Winch-1

Tighten coupling nuts. Feed-hole for rope should be oriented on left, as shown (A).

Mounting return ball knob on mill

Loosen coupling and nylock nuts on other side of mill. Nose guard should be to your left.

Slide thickness rail clear of end bracket and place carriage bolt (6) into channel of thickness rail as shown

Slide thickness rail back in to place and re-tighten coupling and nylock nuts.

Set flat washer (20) on carriage bolt (19), then screw on ball nob (21).

Mounting winch on small log mill

  1. Loosen 3 hexnuts (15) and 1 coupling nut (5).
  2. Slide thickness rails away from end bracket.
  3. Remove hex nut (15).
  4. Attach ball knob and tighten.
  5. Attach winch in same way you would on the Mill (see instructions on previous pages).

Preparing level arm assembly

  1. Slide three carriage bolts (19) onto lever arm.
  2. Attach carabiner bracket (24) over carriage bolts as shown.
  3. Place 3 flat washers (20,28) over two carriage bolts.
  4. Attach hex nut (15) onto angle bracket (24) until tight. Then loosen just enough until angle bracket can slide along lever arm.
  5. Attach star knob (30) and ball knob (21).
  6. Attach hinge plate (23) to mounting plate (31) using button head screws (17).
  7. Lever arm is now ready to attach to end of log with wood screws (29).

Attaching lever arm assembly

  • Attach one wood screw to lever arm mounting plate.
  • Level lever arm mounting plate and attach remaining screws.
  • Load ball assembly on lever arm and position just above lever arm mounting plate as shown. Tighten in place.

Using the winch to mill lumber

P-Lindberg-9064332-Chainsaw-Mill-Winch-21

  • A. Put line through carabiner.
  • B. Loop end of line over knob on mill.
  • C. Place carabiner over coupling nut as shown.
  • D. Tighten winch handle to take up slack.
  • E. Use friction screw to hold spindle in place

Adjust mill and cut a few inches into the log.
*Note: When making your first cut the winch can be used in conjunction with EZ Rails and Slabbing Rail brackets.

Remove carabiner from coupling nut, pull out winch rope and attach carabiner to carabiner bracket as shown. Load carabiner open side up, as shown.

Re-attach line to ball knob on mill as shown

Use star knob to adjust angle bracket up or down as needed, depending on diameter of log.

Resume cut maintaining constant throttle and turning winch handle with a steady motion counter clockwise as indicated by the arrows (A). Do not attempt to force mill through log.

While cutting, maintain downward pressure on winch handle and counter-balance by lifting chainsaw slightly to keep rails flat on cut surface, as indicated by red arrows.
If saw starts to bog or stall, release tension on line until RPM returns to normal

Wedges should be placed approximately 18″apart as you mill. Once chain on leading edge of bar has cleared the log, stop milling and turn off chain saw. You can stop using the winch at any time during the cut, detach carabiner and finish the cut. P-Lindberg-9064332-Chainsaw-Mill-
Winch-30

Remove carabiner, attach to mill. Use friction screw to hold fast until ready to use.
