User Instructions
Fitting
- Remove the machine and all the parts from the packaging.
- Fit the operating cables to the handlebar using the plastic strips.
- Secure the guard to the gliding plate using bolts.
- Push the side guard with the holder into the holder on the frame.
Using for the first time
CAUTION
The machine is shipped without fuel and engine oil!
Read instructions thoroughly to avoid damage to the engine!
- Fill the engine with the stated type of engine oil and petrol.
- Set the choke to the first position (max. choke) and start the engine using the recoil starter.
- Let the engine warm up for approx. 30 seconds.
WARNING Never let the engine operate unsupervised!
Starting the machine
When starting the engine, the engage lever for the blades should be in the OFF position.
-
Start the engine.
-
Set the engine’s rpm to the max. using the handle on the handlebar (if the engine is starting from cold, allow the engine to warm up for approximately 30 s).
-
Hold the handlebar in both hands and pull the blades engagement lever towards you.
Pull the lever slowly, two thirds the way down, so that the blades can start their rotation and the engine will not stall.
Once the cutting disc begins to rotate, the drive belt will partially slip and a jarring noise may be emitted, which will disappear once the drive belt is fully operating. -
Once the cutting disc begins to rotate, press the lever all the way down and hold it in.
NB: On new or cold engines, the engine may stall several times when engaging the cutting disc. This is only temporary and will cease once the engine has warmed up.
Stopping the machine
The cutting disc will switch off as soon as the engagement lever is released.
However, it may take some time before it stops moving since it is fitted with
anti-friction bearings.
To switch off the engine, turn the switch to “OFF”.
In emergencies, release the engagement levers and the cutting disc will switch
off and slowly stop – the engine continues with an appropriate rpm- therefore
it must be switched off by turning the switch to the “OFF” position as quickly
as possible!
User Instructions
There are two ways to use the drum mower:
- If you wish to cut grass on well-maintained surfaces that are level, the machine can be pushed forward without having to lift the machine’s front and with the gliding plate gliding over the grass. However, be prepared that the forward movement will not be completely even. Any unexpected bump will cause the machine to swing out to the side.
- If the ground is uneven, e.g., if there are molehills, it is recommended that you lift the machines front slightly by lightly pushing down on the handlebar while pushing the machine forwards.
Cutting procedure
Set the engine to maximum rpm and allow the cutting disc to rotate at the
maximum speed and set the machine in motion towards the grass that is to be
cut. The cut grass will be ejected to the right side of the rotating disc and
will hit the guard, which forms a swathe of cut grass.
If the grass is very dense, high, rotten or sticky, the machine’s working
width should be reduced accordingly, so that the cutting disc’s rotation is
not overly reduced and thus does not reduce the cutting quality.
Troubleshooting
Grass stuck under the guard:
-
The engine loses noticeable speed but does not stall: Stop the machine immediately and lift machine’s front a little (by pressing down on the handlebar). The area under the machine will now free itself of the cut grass. Next, operate the machine towards the grass again.
WARNING Exercise extreme caution when operating the machine in a backwards direction! -
The engine loses noticeable speed and stalls: Release the cutting disc engagementlever on the handlebar, lift the front of the machine (by pushing down on the handlebar) and move backwards. Empty the area under the guard and spread the grass on the ground. Start the engine and engage the cutting disc and continue the work.
-
WARNING
The engine must always be switched off first before moving grass from under the guard!
It must always be possible for the user to flip the machine backwards using the handlebar. Always exercise extreme caution when working under a machine! Ensure that the machine cannot move!
Maintenance and storage
To ensure that the machine performs satisfactorily, the correct maintenance
must be carried out. Regular maintenance will ensure unnecessary wear will be
avoided and all parts function correctly.
Follow all the instructions for the maintenance and adjustment intervals for
the machine.
It is advised that you document the machine’s operating hours and the
conditions under which the machine operated.
WARNING The engine must always be switched off and the spark plug cap and spark plug lead disconnected before any maintenance tasks are carried out!

- Slowly fill with oil using the oil fill hole. Do not overfill. After filling, wait a minute and then check the engine oil level.
- Replace the oil cap/dipstick and screw securely.
CAUTION When changing the engine oil, always follow the applicable regulations and laws relating to the protection of the environment.
The oil must be emptied through the drain plug (see the drawing below).
- Remove the oil cap/dipstick.
- Position an approved container under the drain plug.
- Remove the drain plug and let all the oil flow into the container.
- Replace the drain plug and tighten it using a wrench.
Replacing the spark plug
- Check the electrode gap (A) using a blade type gap tool (B) and adjust as required.
- Electrode gap: 0.6–0.8 mm
- Insert the spark plug and tighten it, cf, specifications.
- Spark plug type NGK BP6BS
- Tightening torque: 18–22 Nm
Servicing the air filter
- Remove the exterior cover (B). Ensure that dirt or other material does not enter the air filter.
- Remove the air filter from the air filter housing (A).
- Inspect the air filter. Wash off dirt from the filter using war water and mild soap. Ensure that the air filter is completely dry before replacing.
- Replace the air filter cover and screw securely.
NB: Do not use compressed air or solvents to clean the filter. Compressed air will damage the filter and solvent will dissolve the filter.
Tightening of bolted joints
All bolted joints should be inspected. At all times, before using the machine
check that the bolts that hold the blades on the top disc are secure and check
them for wear, and likewise check the bolts that hold the gliding plate on the
drive shaft.
Blade replacement and sharpening
If the blades become worn or damaged, it may cause the machine to vibrate.
Sharpen worn blades and replace damaged blades.
ADVARSEL
- Ensure that the machine is on a stable surface and is secure, so that the blades can easily be reached and that the machine cannot move unintentionally.
- Exercise extreme caution when removing the blades. They are sharp. Protect hands using work gloves.
- The engine must be switched off and the spark plug lead disconnected before the blades can be removed.
-
Secure the cutting disc so that it cannot rotate. Remove the blade holder using wrench no. 17 and Allen key no. 6.
-
Remove the blade and sharpen. The angle should be 30o towards the outside edge.
CAUTION If a blade is bent or shows signs of wear, all of the blades on the cutting disc must be replaced! -
Check the blade holder for wear. If bolts or nuts are very worn, they must be replaced.
-
Re-screw the bolts on the cutting disc and place the spacer, blade, cutting disc and fit the nut.
-
Tighten the nut while again holding the bolt. All of the blades must be able to move freely on the bolts.
The blades are sharp on both sides. When one side is worn, reverse the blade, so that the sharp edge can be used to cut the grass. When replacing a blade, replace all damaged parts on the blade holder in the cutting disc.
Wash and clean the machine
When cleaning the machine, always comply with regulations and legislation
relating to wastewater and environmental protection.
Never clean the machine using a jet of water. The electrical components can
become damaged.
Remove all dirt and grass from the machine at the end of the season. Check the blades, sharpen them (or replace as required) and lubricate the blades using protective oil. The wheels should be removed from the shaft at least once a season, cleaned and the hub filled with new grease.
WARNING
The engine must be switched off and the spark plug cap and spark plug lead disconnected.
Procedure for removal, lubrication and re-fitting of the wheels:
- Secure the machine, so that the wheels can move freely. The machine must be made secure so that no unintentional movements can occur.
- Remove the wheel nut and remove the wheel from the shaft.
- Press the bearing out and wash dirt and old grease off.
- Fill with fresh grease and press the bearing back.
- Re-fit the wheel and tighten the nut so that the wheel can move freely, but without having to much play on the sides. Remember to fit the pin!
Storage
Before storing, clean the machine of all dirt, deposits and plant remains.
Repair damaged paint on machine parts. If the machine is to be stored for a
longer time, clean the blades, and lubricate with a little oil.
The machine must be stored cleaned and dried and kept out of the reach of
children and unauthorised persons and protected from the effects of wind and
weather. However, it is not recommended that an airtight cover is used, as
this will cause condensation to from, which will promote rust.
If the machine is stored with petrol in the petrol tank, keep any equipment
that can generate flames or sparks at a safe distance.
If the machine must be stored for more than 30 days, it is recommended that the following procedure is followed:
- Replace the engine oil while the engine is still warm.
- Clean the machine on the outside.
- Empty the petrol tank – use an approved container.
- Remove the spark plug and put 5 ml oil in the hole.
- Slowly pull the recoil starter 8–10 times to distribute the oil in the cylinder. Replace the spark plug and tighten securely. Excess oil will generate smoke on re-start.
- The machine can be stored in different positions. Positions where the spark plug faces up the way are not advised.
Remember to fill the petrol tank with fresh petrol when the machine shall be used again after storage!
Transport
Transport the machine without petrol in the tank, alternatively with the fuel
cock closed.
Disposal
The machine and its parts and packaging must be disposed of properly, cf.
