Use of the Equipment

  1. The safety of the operator and bystanders is one of the most important factors in the design and development of the equipment. But every year many accidents occur that could have been avoided if someone had just paid a little more attention to what they were doing and exercised more caution when handling equipment. As the operator, you can avoid many potential accidents by following the precautions in this section. To avoid personal injury or death, read the following precautions thoroughly and insist on anyone who works with you or for you, that they follow the precautions.
  2. For the sake of clarity, some photographs or illustrations may be used with these instructions that show a unit with a safety guard that has been removed. However, please note that the equipment should never be used with a safety guard removed. Keep all safety guards in place. If it is necessary to remove a safety guard when carrying out repairs, the safety guard must be refitted or replaced before the unit is used.
  3. Any missing or illegible safety labels or instruction labels must be replaced. The locations of the labels are shown in this user manual.
  4. Never consume alcohol or substances of any kind that can reduce your attention or coordination when using the equipment. Consult your doctor with regard to using the machine if taking prescription medicine.
  5. Under no circumstances may children be allowed to use the machine or equipment. Do not allow persons to use the machine or equipment if they have not read the user manual and do not have a thorough understanding of the safety precautions and functions. The safety instructions should be reviewed annually with all users of the machine.
  6. The equipment is hazardous to children and to persons who are unfamiliar with the equipment. The operator must be a responsible and properly trained person who is in good physical shape and has been trained in how to operate the machine. If older people help with the work, their physical limitations must be recognized and taken into account.
  7. Never exceed a machine’s limitations. If there is uncertainty as to whether the machine is able to carry out the task or whether the task can be carried out safely – THEN DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CARRY OUT THE TASK.
  8. Do not make any changes or modifications to the equipment. Unauthorized changes or modifications can lead to serious personal injury or death and can reduce the function and lifetime of the equipment.
  9. In addition to the design and configuration of the machine, including safety signs and safety equipment, hazard control is very dependent on the user paying special attention, taking care and exercising caution, and on the correct training of the personnel involved in the operation, transport, maintenance and storage of the equipment. Ensure that you also read the tractor’s user manual and safety instructions and safety labels.

Training

  1. Safety is an important factor in the design and manufacture of machinery. Unfortunately, all the efforts made in delivering safe equipment can be for nothing in the event of careless handling by an operator or by someone else who is present.

  2. In addition to the design and configuration of the equipment, safety is very dependent on the user paying special attention, taking care and exercising caution, and on the correct training of the personnel involved in the operation, transport, maintenance and storage of the equipment.

  3. The best safety function is an informed operator who exercises caution. It is the responsibility of the operator to read and understand ALL of the safety instructions and other instructions in the user manual and to follow them. Accidents can be avoided.

  4. Working with unknown equipment can lead to accidents.
Read this user manual before fitting or if you need to familiarize yourself with the machine. If this machine is to be used by another operator, or loaned or leased to another operator, the machine owner is responsible for ensuring that before using the machine, the operator has:

    • Read and understood the operating instructions in the user manual.
    • Has been instructed in the safe and correct use of machine.
  5. Be familiar with the machine’s operating elements and be fully aware of how the tractor and the machine can be stopped quickly in an emergency situation. Read this user manual and also read the tractor’s user manual.

  6. Train all new personnel and regularly review the instructions with existing employees. Ensure that the machine is only used by an operator who has been correctly trained and who is in good physical shape. Any operator who has not read and understood all of the user instructions and safety instructions is not qualified to use the machine. An untrained operator puts himself or herself and bystanders in danger of serious personal injury or death. If older people help with the work, their physical limitations must be recognized and taken into account.

Safety Labels

  1. Always keep the safety labels clean and legible.
  2. Replace missing or illegible safety labels.

Assembling

The woodchipper is supplied fully assembled.
The woodchipper is mounted on the tractor’s three-point hitch and connected to the tractor’s PTO shaft.
Lubricate well with grease all moving parts before using for first time.

Use

Since the woodchipper functions via power transmission from the tractor, the blade rotor starts automatically when the tractor starts.
Procedure in case of trapped material
Immediately stop the tractor and disconnect the PTO. Wait until all moving parts have stopped moving. The feed chute can now be reversed to free the trapped material. Alternatively, the cover to the blade shaft can be opened.

Maintenance

The blade shaft must be lubricated with suitable oil every 8 operating hours.
Bolts, nuts, etc., must be checked and tightened every 20 operating hours or as required.

Storage

The machine must be cleaned and all metal parts lubricated with a light oil to prevent rust formation.

Transport

The machine must be made secure against tipping over when transported. If the machine is transported in the tractor’s suspension, if required, the feed chute can be set to the transport position, so that the machine takes up less space on the road. However, this is not necessary in relation to the machine’s stability.

Disposal

The woodchipper must be dismantled and the individual material disposed of in accordance with applicable local regulations.
