SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • The product is only intended for use on the rear window and rear side windows. It must not be used on the windscreen or the front side windows.
  • The product may not be fully transparent when first fitted. This is because the solution has not yet dried.
FITTING

FITTING ON SIDE WINDOW
Preparing the window

  1.  Fill a flower spray bottle with a solution of washing-up liquid and cold water, 2 tsp per litre of water
  2. Wind up the window. Clean the inside and outside of the window with the solution and wipe the window with the supplied rubber squeegee and a clean, dry cloth. Wind down the window about 5 cm and repeat the cleaning process.
  3. Clean the rubber lips for the window. This is important because otherwise dust can drop down from the lips onto the glass surface when the film is fitted.

Preparing the film

  1.  Decide which side of the film has the adhesive transparent protective plastic. To do this, apply a piece of tape on each side of the film, press together and then pull apart. This test shows the side that has the transparent protective plastic.
  2. Spray the solution on the outside of the window and put the film temporarily on the window with transparent protective plastic turned towards you. Spray solution on the film.
  3. Use the supplied knife to carefully shape the film to the shape of the window. Carefully follow the shape of the window, but leave an extra 5 cm of film at the bottom of the window.
  4. Wind down the window 1cm and cut the film to the top edge of the glass so that the film has the exact shape and size of the window.

Fitting

  1. Pull the protective plastic off the film with two strips of tape, in the same way as the above test.
  2.  Spray a generous amount of the solution over the now uncovered adhesive side of the film and the inside of the window.
  3. Remove the film from the outside of the window, making sure not to crease the film or sticking it together. Wind down the window 7 cm and carefully fit the film in place on the inside of the window. Ask an assistant to wind down the window while you hold the film.
  4.  Spray the film with a generous amount of the solution and wipe the rubber squeegee over the top part of the window.
  5. Fully wind up the window and put the bottom edge of the film under the rubber moulding for the window. Use a credit card to press the film in under the rubber moulding.
  6. Press the film to the window by wiping the rubber squeegee over the film. Work from the middle of the window and outwards towards the edges, pressing out all the air bubbles and water.
  7. Allow any fingerprints and smudges to dry for 5 minutes and then carefully wipe them off with the rubber squeegee.
  8. Allow the film adhesive to fully harden. This can take up to 75 days.

FITTING ON REAR WINDOW

If the rear window on the car is relatively fiat, without a lot of curvature, the film can be fitted in the same way as for the side windows. For curved rear windows the film needs to be stripped according to the following instructions in order to follow the curvature of the glass surface.

  1.  Clean the rear window in the same way as for the side windows.

  2. Decide which side of the film has the adhesive transparent protective plastic. To do this, apply a piece of tape on each side of the film, press together and then pull apart. This test shows the side that has the transparent protective plastic.

  3. Spray solution on the outside of the rear window and put the film on the window with transparent protective plastic turned away from you, carefully smoothing the film as smooth as possible with the rubber squeegee. The number of places where the film does not fit smoothly to the glass gives an indication of in how many strips the film needs to be divided, and how wide they should be.

  4. Lift the film from the window and cut it in horizontal strips that permit an overlap 017 to 2 mm. 2 to 3 strips are normally enough. More strips may be needed, depending on the curvature of the glass.

  5.  Spray more solution on the outside of the rear window and put the strips in place, overlapping each other by 7 to 2 mm. If the film still does not fit smoothly to the glass the strips need to be cut somewhat thinner. Place all the strips on the outside of the window and spray them wet. Smooth out the strips with the rubber squeegee and trim their edges until they precisely fit the shape of the window.
    IMPORTANT·
Make sure not to damage any of the wires in a heated window.

  6. Remove the protective plastic from one strip at once and spray a generous amount of the solution over the now uncovered adhesive side of the film and the inside of the window. Lift each strip from the outside of the rear window and carefully fit them on the inside, from the top and down. Spray the film and press in place by wiping with the squeegee horizontally from the middle of the strip to its edges.

MAINTENANCE

Clean the film at regular intervals with a soft cloth or towel and the same type of washing-up liquid solution used during the fitting.
Do not use paper towels or detergent based on vineger or ammoniac.
