ASSEMBLY
Suitable equipment for assembly/dismantling:
- Eye protection and protective gloves
- 6 mm spanner or wrench
- Rubber mallet
- Stepladder or similar
- Hammer to put in the screws
The image shows the frame after steps 1-4 have been carried out.
PREPARING THE ROOF FRAME
Prepare assembly of the roof frame by placing the roof components on the
ground as shown in the image below.
TIP:
- The stay (6) has holes at one end. These holes must be turned towards the middle of the frame or roof ridge.
- The connector pieces have plastic covers to protect against dirt, which can cause corrosion. Leave the plastic covers in place until the connector pieces are being assembled.
Note
that there are five different types of connector pieces – see below.
- During assembly, the strut bracket must be below the hook.
- The connector pieces (9), (10) and (11) are designed for wall fitting and have a smaller radius of curvature.
- The connector pieces (12) and (13) are designed for roof fitting and have a larger radius of curvature.
FITTING THE ROOF
Assemble all parts of the roof as per Fig. D. Use screws (17) and nuts (18).
Insert the screws in the holes from the outside in, so that the nuts are on
the inside of the tent.
TIP: Lightly tap the screws with a hammer to push them slightly further
into the holes. Tighten the nylon nuts to the point where the screw heads are
sunk flush. If the screw heads stick out at all, they may damage the canvas.
ASSEMBLING THE
EDGES OF THE ROOF
Gently tap on the pieces with a rubber mallet to ensure they are correctly
assembled.
ASSEMBLING THE
SUPPORTS.
- There are 4 x corner supports and 2 x mid-supports The corner supports consist of parts (1), (2) and (3). The mid-supports consist of parts (1) and (4).
- Fit the first mid-support on one side . One person lifts one corner of the roof frame whilst another person inserts the mid-support in the bracket. Fit the corner supports.
- Repeat on the other side .
NOTE: No screws are used to assemble the supports for the roof frame.
FITTING THE CANVAS TO THE FRONT AND REAR END WALLS
Place the canvas with the zipped door on the desired end wall. The zip should
be closed for fitting. The canvas for the rear end wall has no door. The
exterior side of the canvas is coloured and the interior is white. The
canvases are both fitted in the same way.
-
Locate the strap along the edge of the canvas for the front end wall. The strap is visible at the height of the stay and corner foot pieces. The ends of the strap stick out by the corner foot pieces. Position the white side of the canvas against the frame and securely tie the strap ends to each corner support.
-
Use a rubber mallet to tap loose the stay (4) from the connector piece (9) or (10) between the support and roof frame.
-
Place the strap between the stay (4) and connector piece. Insert the stay (4) into the con nectar piece again.
-
Repeat for the other side.
-
Stand on a stool or similar; use a rubber mallet to knock loose the stay (4) from the connector piece (12). Place the strap between the stay (4) and connector piece and insert the stay into the connector piece again.
-
Loosen one of the straps from one corner foot piece and thread it into the tensioner (24). Ratchet the tensioner lever forwards and backwards a few times to catch hold of the strap. Hook in the tensioner’s S-hook in the corner foot piece and ratchet the tensioner lever forwards and backwards to tighten the strap.
-
Repeat for the strap on the other side.
-
One person should stand on a stool or similar at the highest point of the roof while another person tensions the strap at the corner foot pieces.
-
The person at the highest point checks that the canvas and strap are correctly placed above the stay and around the edge of the end wall.
-
When the strap is tightened, make sure that the door remains at a right angle and reaches all the way to the ground.
DO NOT PULL TOO HARD.
STRAIGHTENING UP AND ANCHORING THE FRAME
-
Check that the frame is in the desired location.
-
Check that the distance between the walls is 305 cm at both wall ends and in the middle.
-
Measure the frame diagonals (A to Band Cto Din the image). When both the diagonals are equal, the frames’ corners are at right angles. If the diagonals are not equal lengths, use a rubber mallet to tap the corner support at the end of the longer diagonal so that it moves towards the corner support at the other end of the diagonal. Repeat until the diagonals are of equal length.
-
Check once more that the width is 305 cm at both ends and in the middle.
-
Anchor the corner foot pieces with the screw anchor, wire and wire lock by screwing down the screw anchors into the ground inside the tent.
-
Secure using wire (25) and wire lock (26).
ASSEMBLING THE LOWER STAYS AND CANVAS
The canvas is fitted with stay tunnels top to bottom along the walls on each
side. The white side should be facing inwards.
-
Lay out the canvas with the stay tunnels along the frame wall and the white side facing upwards.
-
Fit the stay (7) and (8) in 4 pairs (2 x pairs for each side)
The figure below shows the placement of the stays once they are inserted in the canvas.
-
Insert a pair of stays in each tunnel on one side of the canvas (see image below).
-
Fit the stay clamps (74) for the mid-supports and stay clamps (75) for the corner supports as per the figure below. Place the stay 25 cm above the ground and tighten the screws loosely. Carefully knock the screws into the holes with a hammer before the nylon nuts are tightened.
NOTE: The nuts should be on the inside of the tent.
-
Once the stay clamps and the lower stay are fitted on one side, pull the canvas over the frame and down the other side.
TIP: Visually check that all parts of the frame are correctly assembled before the canvas is fitted. If a stay comes apart when the end wall canvas is fitted, this may make it impossible to correctly fit the canvas. -
Two people standing around 7/3 of the way in from each end wall are needed to pull the canvas over the frame. Use stools or similar to reach the canvas to pull it over the roof ridge.
-
Place the canvas so that it sticks out an equal distance over the front and rear end walls. Repeat steps b), c) and d) to fit the lower stays on the side with the loose-hanging canvas.
-
Check that the lower stays are approximately the same height on both sides. Keep the canvas taut and screw in the stay clamps to secure. NOTE: Press the stay downwards to tauten the canvas before the screws are fully tightened.
Once all stays are locked, use the tensioner to tauten the straps for the end wall canvases.
NOTE: Do not overtighten; this may damage the strap and/or fixing points. Do not overtighten.
The product is now ready for use.
NOTE: Check regularly that the canvas and straps were tightened correctly and that all the frame components were fitted correctly. Tighten the straps if needed. Check 2 or 3 times in the first week and then once per week in the first month. Thereafter, check once a month.
DISMANTLING
To dismantle the tent, press the spring arm on each tensioner to release the
straps.
