CHARGING

WARNING!

  • Never charge a frozen battery.
  • Never charge the battery when the engine is running.
  • Always wear safety glasses when handling batteries.
Connection

Start by connecting the red clip to the battery’s positive terminal and then the black clip to the battery’s negative terminal, or to the chassis (earth) if the battery is connected to the vehicle. The earth should ideally not be near the battery and any fuel lines/systems because sparks can ignite explosive gas from the fuel and battery. Now connect the battery charger to the power supply. The power light goes on.

Disconnection

Start by disconnecting the battery charger from the power supply. Release the black clip from the earth point and then the red clip from the battery’s positive terminal.

Selecting charging programme

Press MODE to select charging programme. Step forwards by pressing the button, release the button when the required mode setting is obtained. The charging can be stopped at anytime by pulling out the plug from the power supply.

Memory function

The battery charger has a memory function, which means it can be started in the mode selected the last time it was connected.

MAINTENANCE

The battery charger will work without problems for many years with a minimum of maintenance. Follow these simple instructions to keep the appliance in good condition.

  • Clean the battery charger’s clips after each use.
  • Always remove any electrolyte from the copper clips, as the electrolyte has a corrosive effect.
  • Clean the outside of the charger with a soft cloth, dampened with a mild soap solution, if necessary.
  • Wind up the charging cables loosely before putting the product away, in order to protect the cables from damage.
  • Do not use the charger if the cables or clips are damaged.
  • A damaged power cord or plug must be replaced by an authorised service centre or other qualified personnel to ensure safe use.
