INSTALLATION
Step 1 : Disconnect power to the fixture.
Step 2: 2×4 luminaire installations, locate latches on the lens frame, and release. Swing the lens frame open and carefully allow the lens to hang open as shown in Figure 1.
NOTE: For vapor tights and lensed wraparound installations, remove the
lens and set it aside.
NOTE: For striplight and non-lensed wraparound installations go to Step
3.
Step 3: Remove existing linear fluorescent tubes as shown in Figure 2.
Dispose of tubes per local regulations.
Step 4: Remove the wiring compartment to access the existing ballast and
set it aside. See Figure 3.
Step 5 : Cut the leads from the ballast to the socket housing on both
ends of the fixture as shown in Figure 4.
NOTE: Cut the leads at the socket housing as short as possible. Push the
leads back behind the lamp holder housing or cap any exposed leads.
Lampholders may be removed but require the removal of lamp holder leads.
Step 6: Cut the leads from the input power to the ballast. See Figure 5.
NOTE: Cut leads at the ballast leaving as much length as possible to
facilitate the installation of the driver. Strip wires as necessary
Step 7: Remove ballast by unscrewing it from the fixture and dispose of
it properly per local regulations. See Figure 6
Step 8: Locate a flat area on the fixture within the wiring compartment to mount the driver. The driver must set flush with the fixture for proper thermal management. Install the driver where possible using existing crow’s feet or mounting holes, and the provided two drill point screws with serrated heads. Ensure the driver is properly grounded. See Figure 7.
NOTE: For striplight mounting, it is recommended to minimize exposed blue
and red light bar leads to 3”
Step 9: Position the light bar approximately at the centerline of
existing lamp sockets and center between the sockets as shown in Figure 8. For
striplight fixtures, position the lamps on the wiring compartment cover.
Step 10 Once positioned, secure the light bar to the fixture with the (6)
provided self-tapping screws as shown in Figure 9. Repeat for additional light
bars.
CAUTION: Magnets are temporary for ease of installation. Do not complete
retrofit installation without securing screws (3 per lamp).
Step 11: Recommended mounting pattern. See Figure 10.
Step 12: Connect red leads from both light bars to the loose red lead wire with the supplied orange 3position connector by pushing into the open slot. Repeat for blue leads. See Figure 11.
Step 13: Connect red and blue lead wires to the correct driver contacts as indicated on the driver label. Connect the BT-LRT-B leads to the aux power and dimming control leads. See Figure 12.
Place the BT-LRT-B in the fixture adjacent to the light bars and route its
harness so that it can exit out the end of the ballast cover.
Step 14 Prepare input power leads by stripping 1/4”. Connect power lead
wires to the correct driver contacts as indicated on the driver label. See
Figure 13
NOTE: If the existing black-and-white lead wires are too short to reach
the new driver position, an extension can be created using the provided black-
and-white leads and red two-position connector.
Step 15 Replace the wiring compartment cover. The dress light bar leads under
the cover. Take care not to pinch red and blue leads between the cover and
fixture.
Step 16 Place relamp label at a visible location in the fixture. Close or
replace the lens and secure latches or other fastening means.
Wiring Diagram
BT-LRT-B Positioning
To allow for optimal Bluetooth communication, the BTLRT-B must not be enclosed
within or shielded by metal. The ideal positioning is close to the center of
the luminaire.
Step 1: Disconnect power to the fixture. Remove the lens and set aside
it. Remove and dispose of fluorescent lamps per local regulations.
Step 2 : Remove the wiring compartment cover/gear tray cover from the luminaire housing (Figures 2 and 3). Cut the input power leads to the ballast (white and black) as close as possible leaving as much length as possible to facilitate installation of the kit (Figure 4). Cut the leads to the lamp holders as close to the lamp holder socket housing as possible (Figure 5). Do not remove lamp holders. Remove and dispose of the existing ballast according to local regulations.
Step 3 : Install the LED driver onto the top side of the gear tray and connect the line and neutral to the input terminals of the driver and the dimming leads, if provided, to the dimming terminals of the driver as shown in the wiring diagram on page 3 of these instructions and in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70). Install the light bars to the bottom side of the gear tray and secure them with sheet metal screws. When installing the kit into a 4ft vapor tight the light bars should be installed side to side. When installing the kit in an 8ft vapor tight the light bars should be installed end to end. When mounting the light bars tuck the output leads as necessary into the light bar housing to reduce the amount of slack (Figure 11). Connect the blue and red leads of the light bars to the LED driver LED output (red and blue terminals) according to the wiring diagram shown on page 3 of these instructions.
Step 4: Mount the parent light bar to the wiring compartment/gear tray cover and secure it with the provided sheet metal screws. When installing a two-light bar kit (LRKB24 series model), mount the light bars end-to-end in an 8ft vapor-tight housing (Figure 9) and side by side in a 4ft vapor-tight housing (Figure 10). When mounting the light bars end-to-end, tuck as much of the output leads as necessary into the light bar housing channel (Figure 11) before mounting the light bar to the wiring compartment/ gear tray cover to reduce the amount of slack (Figure 12).
Step 5: Place the wiring compartment cover/gear tray cover with attached light bars back onto the luminaire housing and secure it in place. Place the lens back onto the fixture housing and secure it in place with the luminaire’s latches.
