Noise/vibration information
Measured values were determined in accordance with EN 62841-1.
The specific overall vibration values and specified noise emission values were measured in accordance with a normed test procedure and can be used in order to compare one power tool with another.

The specific overall vibration values and specific noise emission values can be used to establish a preliminary evaluation of the load.

Warning: The vibrations and noise emissions generated when the power tool is actually being used may deviate from the specific values depending on the way in which the power tool is used, specifically, on the basis of the type of workpiece being processed.

It is necessary to define safety measures to protect the operator. These must be based on an estimate of the vibration load under real usage conditions (taking into account all portions of the operating cycle, for example, times at which the power tool is switched off, and times at which it is switched on, but running without load).

Warning: The actual vibration emission value present during the use of the machine may deviate from the specification given in the operating instructions or make by the manufacturer. This may be caused by the following influencing factors that should be taken into account prior to and during each use:

  • Is the device being used correctly
  • Is the correct type of material being processed
  • Is the device in proper working order
  • Are the handles or optional vibration handles mounted and fixed securely up against the body of the machine?

If your hands experience an unpleasant sensation or the skin changes color while you are using the machine, stop working immediately. Take sufficient breaks. If you do not take sufficient breaks, this may cause hand-arm vibration syndrome.

You should estimate the level of the load caused in conjunction with the work or use of the machine and take the appropriate breaks. This method can be used to considerably minimize the level of load during the entire working time. Minimize risks in which you are exposed to vibrations. Take care of your machinery in accordance with the directions in the operation instructions.

If the machine is to be used frequently, contact your dealer and arrange antivibration equipment if necessary.
Avoid using the tool in temperatures of t = 10 °C or lower. Draw up a working schedule that can be used to minimize vibration loads.

General safety instructions for handling power tools

General safety instructions for handling power tools

WARNING Read all safety pre cautions, and instructions, and pay attention to the illustrations and tech medical data pertaining to this powerful tool. Failure to heed the following instructions may cause electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term „power tool“ as used in the safety notes refers to mains-operated power tools (with a power cable) or to battery-operated power tools (without a power cable).

  1. Work area
a Keep work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
b, Do not operate power tools in explosion-prone surroundings, such as those in which flammable liquids, gasses, or dust can be found.
Power tools create sparks, which may ignite dust or vapors.
c Keep children and bystanders away when operating a power tool. Distractions may cause you to lose control of the power tool.

  2. Electrical Safety
a Power tool plug must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
b Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. The ingress of water into a power tool will increase the risk of an electric shock.
d, Do not misuse the connecting cable by using it to carry the power tool, hang it up, or pull the plug out of the socket. Keep the connecting cable away from heat,  oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or entangled connecting cables increase the risk of an electric shock.
e When operating a power tool out doors, use only extension cords that have been designed for out door use. The use of an extension cord suitable for the outdoors will reduce the risk of an electric shock.
f If it is not possible to avoid using the electrical tool in a damp environment, use a residual current cir cuitbreaker. The use of a residual current circuit breaker reduces the risk of an electrical shock.

  3. Personal safety
a Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs,  alco hol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
    b Use personal protective equipment.
Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
    c Avoid switching on accidentally.
Ensure that the power tool is switched off before connecting it to the power supply and/or battery pack, picking it up, or carrying the device. If you have your finger on the switch when moving the power tool or have the power tool switched on when connecting to the power supply, this may lead to accidents.
d Remove any adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may cause injury.
e Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair may be caught by moving parts.
g If dust extraction and collection systems are provided, ensure that they are connected and used cor recently. The use of dust extraction systems can reduce dust-related hazards.
h Do not assume a false sense of security and do not overstep the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after many uses. Careless actions may cause serious injuries within fractions of a second.

  4. Power tool use and care
a Do not overload your power tool Use the appropriate power tool for the task at hand. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer in the specific performance range.
b, Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c Pull the plug out of the socket and/ or remove a removable battery pack before making any changes to the device settings, changing inser on tools, or putting the power tool down. This precautionary safety measure prevents the risk of the power tool from starting up accidentally.
d Store power tools that are not in use out of the reach of children. Do not anyone to operate the power tool who is not familiar with it, or who has not read these  instructions. Power tools are dangerous when used by inexperienced persons.
e Look after your power tools and tool inserts carefully. Check wheth er moving parts function properly and do not bind, and check whether parts are broken or damaged in such a way that the functionality of the power tool is affected. Have any damaged parts been repaired before using the power tool. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits, etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h Keep handles and grips dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grips do not enable safe handling and control of the power tool in the event of unexpected situations.

  5. Service
a Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
b To avoid hazards, damaged power leads must be replaced by the manufacturer or his customer service representative.

Additional safety notes for grinders and polishers

Installation and setting

Preselecting the oscillation speed (Figs. 1 and 2)
The machine is provided with an electronic control system for preselecting the oscillation speed to suit the material.
For this, set the adjusting wheel (3) to a position between 1 (minimum speed for e.g. light initial sanding) and 6 (maximum speed).
For non-binding recommendations for adjusting the tool, see Fig. 2.

Fitting the sandpaper
CAUTION! Switch the machine. Pull out the mains plug.
The rubber backing pad is Velcro-faced.
This system enables new sandpaper to be attached quickly and without using a clamping fixture. Before attaching the new sandpaper, clean the connection link of the rubber backing pad. Place sanding sheets tightly over the sanding pad (7), making sure that the holes (8) of the pad and sandpaper correspond (fig. 3)

Operation

Initial start-up
The machine must be switched off, and the on/of the switch (1) must be pressed in position 0 (= OFF). The setting wheel (3) must be positioned at the right stop so that figure 1  is visible.

Switching on the machine
Push the On/Of switch (1) to position l (= ON). The machine starts with the minimum revolutions.

Speed control status
Rotate the setting wheel (3) to set the desired speed within the specific speed range between 1 and MAX.

Switching off the machine
Reset the setting wheel (3) to 1 and press the on/off switch (1) in position 0 (= OFF).

Mode of operation

Sanding
Turn on the machine and deduster. Move the grinding surface over the material to be ground/sanded with sightly elliptical movements. Do not apply any additional pressure, the weight of the machine itself is sufficient.
Conduct a number of grinding steps with increasingly finer grains. The equipment is particularly suitable for work on corners and edges which are diicult to reach (eg. 5+6). You may also use the point or edge of the sanding plate when sanding profiles and concave fillets.

Dust extraction
Dust can be extracted with the vacuum cleaner via the vacuum cleaner connector. It is also possible to use the adapter for external dust extraction (5) (Fig. 4). Breathing in rinding dust is harmful to health, therefore always work with dust extraction switched on.

Maintenance and environmental protection

From time to time, clean dust exhaust openings (8) with a dry brush. Clean the housing only with a damp cloth – do not use any solvents! Dry thoroughly afterward.

CAUTION! Electrical and battery-operated units that no longer work should not be disposed of in the household waste! They are to be collected separately, in accordance with the 2012/19/EU directive for the disposal of electrical and electronic waste and sent for proper and environmentally- friendly recycling.
Please discard power tools no longer usable at a local collection point. Collection and disposal of packaging materials separately by types complying with local rules and regulations. For details, please contact your municipal authority concerned.
