General safety instructions for handling power tools
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains operated (corded)
power tool or batteryoperated (cordless) power tool.
Work area
- Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks that may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical Safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
- If it is not possible to avoid using the electrical tool in a damp environment, use a residual current circuit breaker. The use of a residual current circuit breaker reduces the risk of an electrical shock.
Personal safety
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
- Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
- Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
- Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
- If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust-related hazards.
Power tool use and care
- Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
- Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
- Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
- Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
- Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
- Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
- Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
Service
- Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
- To avoid hazards, damaged power leads must be replaced by the manufacturer or his customer service representative.
Hammer safety warnings
- Wear ear protectors. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
- Use auxiliary handle(s), if supplied with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injury.
- Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory contacting a „live“ wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool „live“ and could give the operator an electric shock.
Special safety notes
- Before you start check to ensure that the power supply voltage matches the specification on the type plate of the tool.
- Never use the power tool as a screwdriver with hammer action. The tightening and loosening of screws, nuts etc. is not permitted when using the hammer action.
- If necessary, only use extension cords that are appropriate for the electrical power of the device. When using outside, only use suitable cables with splash-proof sockets.
- Before making any settings, changing a tool, cleaning or maintaining the tool or when leaving it unattended, always pull the plug out of the power socket.
- Check the area you intend working on for concealed power lines, water and gas pipes before you start work. If necessary, use a cable-finding tool.
- When working, hold the power tool firmly with both hands and ensure you have a stable footing.
- Secure the work piece to a stable surface with a suitable clamping mechanism. This is safer than holding it with your hands.
- Immediately switch off the power tool when the inserted tool becomes blocked. A blocked tool may cause kickback.
- After switching it off, wait until the power tool has come to a standstill before you put it down.
Safety instructions relating specifically to the equipment
- The tool may only be used for the intended purpose.
- Only actuate the gear switch when the motor is at a standstill. Switching with the tool running may cause damage to the gears.
- Never touch the exterior housing immediately after drilling. It becomes very hot when drilling.
- Shavings or splitters should never be removed with the tool running.
- Small workpieces must be secured in such a way that the drill does not move them during drilling.
- Always keep the power cable away from the area you are working in.
- Only connect the tool to the power supply when it is switched off.
- Persons under 16 may not operate the tool.
- Chase and drill bits may be thrown out of the tool and cause serious injuries.
- Before starting work, ensure that chase and drill bits are locked in the tool holder.
- Check the tool holder regularly for signs of wear or damage.
- A hammer action tool should only be started when it is pressed up against a workpiece (wall, ceiling etc.).
- When you have finished working, remove from the power supply and take the chase or drill bit out of the tool.
- Protect your eyes and those of any persons in the area from flying objects and splintering foreign bodies. Wear a safety helmet! Set up separating walls!
- Work gloves will protect your fingers from crushing and grazes.
- Protect your breathing apparatus from dangerous dust generated by drilling. Wear a dust protection mask.
- Vibrations may cause damage to hands and arms: keep the time exposed to vibrations as low as possible.
- Make sure that power cables always lead away from the rear of the device.
- Store the tool in such a way that it cannot be accessed by children.
- Prior to processing materials, ensure that the tool is set to the correct switch position for the work you wish to carry out. Otherwise, you may be at risk of injury when the tool starts up.
- Avoid allowing the motor to come to a standstill under load when drilling or screwing screws.

The symbols on the housing have the following meanings:

Correct use
This rotary hammer drill is suitable for drilling and hammer-drilling concrete, stone, masonry and light chiseling work around the house. Use only suitable accessories (note manufacturer’s instructions). All other applications are expressly excluded. Chuck designed for SDS+ system tools
The machine is intended only for use in the household.
This unit may not be used by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, with a lack of experience and without the appropriate knowledge, unless they are supervised by someone who is responsible for their safety or have been instructed by such a person with regard to how the unit is to be operated. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
Improper use of the product
All applications carried out with the device that are not listed in the
“Proper use” chapter will be considered improper use. Uses for which the tool
is not designed may cause risks and injury. Do not use accessories that are
not intended specifically for this electrical tool. Just because you can affix
an accessory to your electrical tool, there is no guarantee it is safe to use.
The permitted revolutions of the tool insert must be at least as high as the highest value specified on the electrical tool. Accessories that turn faster than is permitted may break and fly away. The external diameter and thickness of the tool insert must match the dimensions of your electrical tool. Incorrectly measured tool inserts cannot be properly protected or checked. There is a risk of injury. The user of the device is liable for all property and personal damages occurring as the result of incorrect use.
If other components or non-original components are used with the machine, the manufacturer’s guarantee is voided.
Remaining risks:
The operating instructions for this electrical tool contain comprehensive tips
for the safe handling of electrical tools. However, every electrical tool has
a certain level of remaining risks which cannot be excluded by the protective
mechanisms on the device. Always operate electrical tools with the necessary
care.
The remaining risks may be, for example:
- Touching rotating parts or tools.
- Injury caused by flying tools or tool parts.
- Risk of fire with insufficient ventilation of the motor.
- Adverse effects on the hearing caused by working without ear defenders.
The ability to work safely is dependent on the familiarity of the operator when it comes to handling the given electrical tool. Appropriate knowledge of the machinery and careful behavior when working help to minimize the remaining risks.

Noise/vibration information
Measured values were determined in accordance with EN EN 60745-1, EN
60745-2-6.
The vibration emission value may fluctuate from the specified value during the actual use of the power tool. These fluctuations will depend on the way in which the power tool is used.
In order to prevent the risks of vibrations, wear gloves when operating the tool; limit working times and shorten the actual operating times.
Safety measures must be taken in order to protect the operator. As a result, the evaluation of the influence must be made whilst taking into account of the actual conditions of use. (All parts of the operating cycle must be taken into account for this purpose. This also includes times in which the power tool is switched off and times in which it is switched on, but is running without load.)
CAUTION!
- A certain amount of noise is unavoidable when using this device. Ensure you carry out noise-intensive work during permitted times. Maintain quiet periods and limit your work to the absolute minimum.
- The effects of noise may cause damage to hearing. Only ever work with suitable ear defenders. Anybody else in the vicinity should thus also wear ear defenders.

Installation and setting
Inserting a tool
CAUTION! Unplug from the power source.
The tool holder is suitable for tools that use the SDS-plus system. Point the
tool holder (11) upwards. Insert a lightly oiled tool shaft and turn to the
locking point. Push holder sleeve (12) down as far as it will go: the tool
will slide into the accommodation shaft. Release the holder sleeve – it must
return to the starting position.
Removing the tool
Push the holder sleeve (12) back and remove the tool.
Setting the additional handle (8) (Fig. 4)
Loosen the additional handle by turning to the left, via the tool holder to
the position shown in Figure 4 and set a comfortable side working position by
sliding about the drilling axis. Turn the additional handle to the right to
secure it.
Mounting and setting the depth stop (10) (Fig. 1)
Loosen the wing screw (13) on the additional handle (8) until the depth stop
(10) can be moved into the clamping opening (9). Pull the depth stop to the
tip of the inserted drill bit. Push the tool with the drill bit and the depth
stop up against a flat surface and slide the depth stop back to the required
drilling depth. Fix the setting by tightening the winged screw (13). The front
of the depth stop will touch the relevant surface when the set drilling depth
is reached. You may wish to make a test hole.
Operation
Switching on and of
CAUTION!
The voltage of the power supply must correspond to the specifications on the
type plate of the machine.
LED operating display (15) lights up green as soon as the machine is linked to the mains voltage. The machine is operational.
- Switching on: Press the On/Off switch (5). The drill immediately starts to operate with the revolutions set using the wheel (4).
- Switching off: Release the On/Off switch (5).
Vibration damper (3)
The power tool has a mechanism for reducing the vibrations at the handle (7)
Mode of operation
Meanings of the symbols drill, hammer drill, chase
- Drilling without hammer action (Fig. 8) into wood and metal. For this, a conventional crown gear chuck with an adapter with an SDSplus system is inserted into the tool holder (11) (not supplied).
- Hammer drilling in cement and brickwork (Fig. 8, 9) without an additional conventional drill chuck. To do this, suitable hammer drills are inserted into the tool holder (11).
- Chiseling in tiles and brickwork (Fig. 9). To do this, suitable chisels are inserted into the tool holder (11).
- The rotating function of the machine is deactivated in this mode.
Select a suitable switching combination of selection knob for hammer drilling/ chasing (1) and on/off switch for hammer action (6) in accordance with Figure Make the setting with the tool at a standstill.
- Spot drilling without hammer action, e.g. into plaster, aerated concrete, metal; Drilling with conventional drill bits connected using a conventional drill chuck with adapter for accommodating tools in accordance with the SDSplus system.
- Hammer drilling into cement, stonework and brickwork (Fig. 6)
- Chiseling without rotation function in brickwork or for removing tiles (Fig. 7).
CAUTION! Never operate the tool with the rotation function active and a
chase bit inserted!
The required hammer action for hammer drilling in stone is generated by a
pneumatic hammer. This electro-pneumatic principle creates a high blow
elasticity and ensures backlash-free operation. Unlike other types of hammer
drill, the drilling performance is not dependent on the pressure.
CAUTION! A greater pressure, thus, does not increase the performance!
Working above your head
When carrying out work above your head, fit the dust collector (14) to the
drill in accordance with Figure 5.
Speed preselection (Fig. 10)
In order to protect the materials you are working on, use the speed recommendations made by the accessory manufacturer. Set the speed using the wheel for speed preselection (4):
- Turn the wheel (4) to position 6 = Highest speed possible
- Turn the wheel (4) to position 1 = Lowest speed possible
Maintenance and environmental protection
CAUTION! Unplug from the power source.
Use only a damp cloth to clean the power tool housing. Do not use solvents!
Then dry off carefully! Always keep the power tool air vents clean and free of
obstructions. Ensure that the gear system is adequately lubricated. After
approx. 5 hours of operating time unscrew the sealing cap (2) with the flange
key and check whether sufficient grease can be seen.
CAUTION!
Electrical and battery-operated units that no longer work should not be
disposed of in the household waste! They are to be collected separately, in
accordance with the 2012/19/EU
directive for the disposal of electrical and electronic waste, and sent for
proper and environmentally-friendly recycling.
Please discard power tools no longer usable at a local collection point. Collection and disposal of packaging materials separately by types complying with local rules and regulations. For details, please contact your municipal authority concerned.
Service instructions
CAUTION!
When starting up this piece of equipment, a brief interruption in voltage may
occur, particularly when the power supply quality is not good. These
interruptions may affect other items (e.g. cause light to flicker). With a
power supply impedance of Zmax < 0.40 OHM, interruptions are not to be
expected.
(Please contact your local power supply provider for more information).
- Store the machine, instruction manual, and where necessary the accessories in the original packaging. In this way you will always have all the information and parts ready to hand.
- Meister devices are to a large extent maintenance-free, a damp cloth being sufficient to clean the casing. Do not drop electrical machines in water. Please note additional hints given in the operating instructions.
- Meister devices are subject to stringent quality control. If however a functional fault should occur, send the device to our servicing address. The repairs will be carried out in a short time.
- A brief description of the defect speeds up the fault tracing and repair time. If within the guarantee period, please enclose the guarantee document and the proof of purchase.
- In so far as a repair under guarantee is not concerned, we will charge the repair costs to your account.
PLEASE NOTE! Opening of the device invalidates the guarantee claim!
