Intended use

Wet cutting of ceramic, stoneware, natural stone and thin concrete slabs up to max. 34 mm thickness. Only use machines, tools and accessories for their intended use (observe the manufacturer’s specifications). All other uses are expressly excluded.

This device is intended for domestic use only.

This device is not intended for use by people (including children) with restricted physical, sensory or mental skills or a lack of experience and/or a lack of knowledge. Children should be super-vised to ensure that they do not play with the device.

Improper use
All uses of the device that are not mentioned in the chapter “Intended use” are considered improper use.
Uses for which the power tool is not intended can cause hazards and injuries. Do not use accessories that are not specifically designed for this power tool.
Just because you can attach the accessory to your power tool does not guarantee safe use.

The maximum permissible rotation speed of the accessory tool must be equal to or greater than the maximum number indicated on the power tool. Accessories that rotate faster than the permitted speed can break and fly around.

The outside diameter and thickness of the working tool must correspond to the dimensions of your power tool. Incorrectly dimensioned accessory tools cannot be adequately shielded or checked.
Cutting discs or other accessories must fit the grinding spindle of your power tool exactly.

Inserts that do not fit the power tool’s grinding spindle will rotate unevenly, vibrate excessively, and may result in a loss of control.

There is a risk of injury. The user of the device is liable for all material damage and personal injury resulting from incorrect use. If other or non- original components are used on the machine, the warranty is voided by the manufacturer.

Residual risks:
The operating instructions for this power tool contain detailed information on working safely with power tools. Nevertheless, every power tool has certain residual risks, which cannot be completely ruled out, even with the protective devices in place. Always take care when operating power tools.

Residual risks may include, for example:

  • Touching rotating parts or tools.
  • Injury due to flying workpieces or workpiece parts.
  • Risk of fire due to inadequate ventilation of the motor.
  • Hearing impairment when working without ear protection.

Safe working also depends on the familiarity of the operating personnel with the respective power tool! Appropriate knowledge of the machine and taking care when working help to minimize existing residual risks.

General safety instructions for power tools

WARNING! Read all safety warn-ings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications that are supplied with this power tool. Failure to follow the instructions below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Keep all safety instructions and manuals for future reference.

The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to mains-operated power tools (with mains cable) or battery-operated power tools (without mains cable).

This device is not intended for use by people (including children) with restricted physical, sensory or mental skills or a lack of experience and/or a lack of knowledge.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.

Safe operation

  1. Health and safety at work
    • Keep your work area clean and well lit. Clutter or poorly lit work areas can lead to accidents.
    • Do not work with the power tool in explosive atmospheres containing flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools gen-erate sparks that can ignite the dust or fumes.
    • Keep children and other persons away while using the power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control of the power tool.
  2. Electrical safety
    • The power tool plug must fit into the socket. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do not use adapter plugs with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
    • Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, heaters, stoves and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock when your body is earthed.
    • Keep power tools away from rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool increases the risk of electric shock.
    • Do not misuse the cable to carry, hang or unplug the power tool from the socket. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges or mov-ing parts. Damaged or entangled cables increase the risk of electric shock.
    • When operating a power tool outdoors, use extension cables suitable for outdoor use. Using an extension cable suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
    • If operating the power tool in a humid environment is unavoidable, use a residual cur-rent device (RCD). The use of a residual current device (RCD) reduces the risk of electric shock.
  3. Personal safety
    • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when working with a power tool. Do not use a power tool if you are tired or under the influ-ence of drugs, alcohol or med-ication. A moment of inattentive-ness while using the power tool can result in serious injury.
    • Always wear personal pro-ective equipment and safety goggles. Wearing protective equipment, such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection, depending on the type and use of the power tool, reduces the risk of injury.
    • Avoid unintentional start-up. Make sure that the power tool is switched off before connecting it to the power supply and/or the battery pack, before picking it up or carrying it. Carrying the power tool with your finger on the switch or connecting the power tool to the power supply when it is switched on can cause accidents.
    • Remove adjusting tools or wrenches before turning on the power tool. A tool or wrench placed in a rotating part of the power tool can cause personal injury.
    • Avoid an abnormal posture. Keep your footing and balance at all times. This makes it easier to keep control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
    • Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair can get caught in moving parts.
    • If dust extraction and collection devices can be installed, these must be connected and used correctly. Using a dust extraction system can reduce the risk of dust.
    • Do not become complacent and do not neglect the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after repeated use. Careless actions can lead to serious injuries within a split second.
  4. Using and handling the power tool
    • Do not overload the power tool. Use the appropriate power tool for your work. With the right power tool, you can work more effectively and safely in the specified power range.
    • Do not use a power tool with a faulty switch. A power tool that can no longer be turned on or off is dangerous and must be repaired.
    • Unplug the power cable from the socket and/or remove a removable battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessory parts, or storing power tools. This pre-caution prevents unintentional startup of the power tool.
    • Keep unused power tools out of the reach of children. Do not allow persons to use the tool who are unfamiliar with the power tool or have not read these instructions. Power tools are dangerous when used by inexperienced persons.
    • Service power tools and accessory tools with care. Check that moving parts are working correctly and are not jammed, and that no parts are broken or damaged in a way that impairs the function of the power tool. Have damaged parts repaired before using the power tool. Accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
    • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Carefully maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges will jam less frequently and are easier to guide.
    • Use power tools, accessory tools, etc. in accordance with these instructions. Take into account the working conditions and the work to be carried out. The use of power tools for applications other than those for which they are intended can lead to dangerous situations.
    • Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Slippery handles and gripping surfaces do not allow safe operation and control of the power tool in unforeseen situations.
  5. Service
    • Have your power tool repaired by qualified personnel using only identical replacement parts. This ensures that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
    • If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service department or an equally qualified person in order to avoid hazards.
  • The use of any other type of cutting discs or tool (such as circular saw blades) not included in the above list is not permitted.

ATTENTION Any modification that can lead to a change in the origi-nal properties of the machine (e.g. speed, maximum diameter of the cut-ting wheel, etc.) may only be carried out by the manufacturer of the machine, who will confirm that the machine still complies with the safety regulations.

  • Lace the machine on an even and stable surface that is free of obstacles (except materials to be separated) and well lit.
  • Check the specified direction of rotation of the tool.
  • Avoid any contact with the rotating tool.
  • Do not use cutting discs with a maximum speed lower than the nominal speed of the machine.
  • Wear suitable clothing and personal protective equipment (e.g. eye and ear protection).
  • Make sure that the work site is free from anything that could hinder the work process.
  • Make sure that the water tanks are full or that the machine is connected to the water supply.
  • Make sure that the protective devices are correctly installed.
  • For safety reasons, any damaged  (cracked) tools must be replaced.
  • The electric slab and tile cutter is designed to make straight cuts and mitre cuts in ceramic tiles in accord-ance with the operating instructions and must not be used for any other purpose.

Device-specific safety instructions

  • Wear protective goggles and gloves, if necessary wear ear protection and a mask.
  • Always fasten the machine securely (even surface), use clamping devices if necessary.
  • Never use your hands to push the material to be cut forward! Use either a small piece of wood or the supplied plastic sliding shoe.
  • Do not use cracked or serrated (seg-mented) cutting discs.
  • When starting work, always check the water level in the cooling water tank –top up the cooling water if necessary. This check must be repeated periodi-cally for prolonged cutting periods.
  • Run the cutting disc to full speed at the start of the work.
  • Let the cutting disc run to a stop after switching it off, NEVER STOP IT!
  • Make sure that no one other than the operator is allowed in the work area.
  • The protective cover (1) must always be mounted and move freely.
  • Replace defective protective covers immediately.

Assembly and adjustment work

Assembling the splitting wedge
The machine is supplied with a split-ting wedge. The splitting wedge is an important safety feature and prevents the diamond cutting disc from jamming during cutting. For safety reasons, the machine must never be used without the splitting wedge in place. Splitting wedge and contact guard are delivered pre- assembled.

  1. Loosen the clamping screws of the pre-assembled splitting wedge slight-ly with a screwdriver.
  2. Slide the 2 slots of the splitting wedge support foot into the 2 clamp-ing screws while holding the splitting wedge support foot between the 2 plate surfaces. Tilting the table can make this task easier.
  3. Tighten the clamping screws.

Adjusting the splitting wedge
Make sure that there is enough space between the cutting disc and the contact guard. The rotating cutting disc could touch the contact guard during use. Readjust the left/right position of the splitting wedge if the rotating cutting disc touches the inside of the blade guard.

  • The splitting wedge must be aligned with the cutting disc (2). Check the alignment with a gauge.
  • If necessary, loosen the screws and adjust the position of the splitting wedge.

Assembling the stop
The stop can be adjusted to the desired position using the scale on the support table.

  • Attach the parallel stop (10) to the support table by tightening the lock-ing screw (9) on both sides.
  • Make sure that the stop is parallel to the direction of the blade.

Angle cuts
Use the same procedure as for a straight cut, but use the angle stop (11) to cut the tiles at 45°. Make sure the tile is held firmly in the guide before making the cut.

Mounting the cutting disc
  1. Remove the water tank (7) by tilting the power tool upwards slightly. Loosen two screws on the left and right of the plastic cover (14). Note that the fixing screws are firmly attached to the plastic cover (14) and must not be completely removed. Remove cutting disc.
  2. Remove the outer flange and spindle nut.
  3. Slide the cutting disc (2) over the spindle. The arrow on the cutting disc must point in the same direction of rotation as the arrow on the metal plate near the spindle and the plastic cover (14). Slide the flange over the cutting disc. Screw the spindle nut onto the spindle. Hold the spindle in this position with the 8 mm spanner (supplied) and tighten the spindle nut with the 19 mm spanner (supplied).
  4. Slide the plastic cover (14) over the cutting disc and tighten the screws.

Selecting and replacing the diamond cutting disc
CAUTION! Switch the control to the “Off” position. Disconnect the mains plug!

Remove the water tank (7) by tilting the power tool upwards slightly. Then loosen the screws of the plastic cover (14) and remove it (Fig. 1 and 2).
Loosen the outer spindle nut by turning it anticlockwise. Hold the spindle in this position with the 8 mm spanner (sup-plied) and unscrew the spindle nut with the 19 mm spanner (supplied). (Fig. 3). Remove the outer flange and spindle nut.

Then replace the cutting disc (2) by sliding it over the spindle. The arrow on the cutting disc must point in the same direction of rotation as the arrow on the metal plate near the spindle and the plastic cover (14).

Slide the outer flange over the cutting disc (2). Screw the spindle nut onto the spindle. Hold the spindle in this position with the 8 mm spanner (supplied) and tighten the spindle nut with the 19 mm spanner (supplied).

Now slide the plastic cover (14) over the cutting disc (2) and tighten the screws.

CAUT ION! Make sure that the arrow direction (running direction) on the new cutting disc corresponds to the arrow direction on the protective cover on the work surface!

IMPORTANT! Only use MPA approved diamond cutting discs!

Before each use, inspect the cutting rim for hairline cracks and deformations; replace if necessary. Only use diamond cutting discs suitable for wet cutting. The selection of the right disc depends on the material to be cut, so follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Fitting the protective cover
Place the protective cover (1) on the splitting wedge and align it. Fasten the protective cover (1) to the splitting wedge with the screw and fixing screw (12).

Parallel stop
Longitudinal cuts can be made with the parallel stop (10). Simply set the desired distance to the cutting disc using the scale (3).

Angle stop
For diagonal cuts, guide the angle stop (11) along the parallel stop (10) with the tile inserted.

Mitre adjustment
The adjustable worktop can be used to make mitre cuts of up to 45°. For the desired mitre, loosen the two set screws for mitre adjustment (6), adjust the mitre and tighten the locking screws again.
