BEGA 50 270 Recessed Ceiling Luminaire Tunable White for Indoor Use
Product Information
The product is a luminaire that requires installation and operation according
to national safety regulations. It is recommended to have a qualified
electrician carry out the installation and ommissioning. The manufacturer
does not accept liability for any damage caused by improper use or
installation.
The luminaire is equipped with electronic components that are protected
against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547. For additional protection
against transients, it is recommended o use separate overvoltage protection
components available on the manufacturer’s website at
www.bega.com.
The product features an LED module with an adjustable color temperature
ranging from 2700 to 6500 K (Tunable White). To set the LED color temperature,
the controller used must support ALI Device Type 8. If no LED color
temperature setting is made, the default value of 3000 K will be used.
The luminaire has a connected wattage of 17.2 W and a luminous flux of 1200
lm. The color rendering index is 1R8a8>0, and the luminaire’s luminous
efficiency is 69.8 lm/W.
Product Usage Instructions
- Ensure the luminaire is installed and operated in compliance with national safety regulations.
- If necessary, consult a qualified electrician for installation and commissioning.
- For additional protection against overvoltage and transients, consider using separate overvoltage protection components available on the manufacturer’s website.
- To set the LED color temperature, make sure the controller used supports DALI Device Type 8.
- If no LED color temperature setting is made, the default value of 3000 K will be used.
- Keep in mind that the luminaire has a connected wattage of 17.2 W and a luminous flux of 1200 lm.
- Ensure the ambient temperature is within the specified range of 25°C to 40°C.
- Refer to the separate instructions for use for any accessories, such as the installation housing, which can be provided upon request.
- In case of any spare parts needed, refer to the following part numbers: Spare glass with gasket (11 003 087), LED power supply unit (40M RG DEV-0264/525), LED module (LED- 700/9TW), Gasket glass (83 001 446).

satin matt and metal housing and external LED power supply unit.
Luminaire with adjustable colour temperature (Tunable White).
They are ideal for places where a soft and uniform lighting distribution is
required.
For installation into ceilings with a shallow depth in interior areas.

Safety
- The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national safety regulations. Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
- The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or installation. If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the manufacturer.
Overvoltage protection
The electronic components installed in the luminaire are protected against
overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547.
To achieve an additional protection against e. g. transients, etc. we
recommend separate overvoltage protection components.

Setting the colour temperature
The LED colour temperature of the luminaire can be set from 2700 to 6500 K (“Tunable White”). Please note: To be able to set the LED colour temperature, the controller used must support DALI Device Type 8. If no LED colour temperature setting is made, 3000 K will be used by default.
Installation
- Luminaire housing must not be installed in heat-insulating material.
- LED are high-quality electronic components!Please avoid touching the light output opening of the LED directly during installation or relamping.
- The recessed opening is covered by the frame of the luminaire housing.
- Fixing of the luminaire in the structure is achieved by using two adjustable wedge-shaped claws.
Installation into concrete ceilings:
For this purpose installation housing 13 026 is available.
Installation into inserted ceilings:
- A recessed opening of ø 161 mm is necessary to accept the luminaire housing. Recessed depth min. 45 mm.
- The lateral distance between recessed luminaire and other building parts must be at least 50 mm.
- The claws catch the ceiling facing from the back side. Minimum thickness of the ceiling facing is 3 mm. If the ceiling facing has a thickness of less than 10 mm or in case of an installation into plasterboard ceilings, the facing thickness in the region of the claws must be increased from the back side.
Open luminaire:
- Remove glass from luminaire housing by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Open cover of the LED-power supply unit and lead mains supply cable into it.
- Make electrical connection to the terminals. For digital control please use the connecting terminal DA, DA.
- In case this terminal is not used the luminaire will be operated at full light output.
- Close cover of the LED-power supply unit. Push external LED power supply unit and luminaire housing into the ceiling cut-out. Luminaire housing and external LED power supply unit must not be installed in heat-insulating material.
- Tighten evenly screws of claw fasteners. Screw the glass into the luminaire housing by turning it clockwise.
- Make sure the seal is properly located.
Cleaning Maintenance
- Clean luminaire regularly with solvent-free cleansers from dirt.
- Defective glass must be replaced.
Replacing the LED module
- The designation of the LED module is noted on a label in the luminaire.
- The light colour and light output of BEGA replacement modules correspond to those of the modules originally fitted.
- The module can be replaced by qualified persons using standard tools.
- Disconnect the system and open the luminaire. Please follow the installation instructions for the LED module.
- Inspect and, if necessary, replace the luminaire gaskets.
- Defective glass must be replaced.
- Close the luminaire.
