Underwater floodlight
Instructions for use
Application
Water pressure tight underwater floodlight with very shallow construction form
for the illumination of ponds, water pools and water features up to a depth of
20 m.
The floodlight must only be operated under water and must be protected against
freezing in.
To avoid damages on the surface of the floodlight, the water must have a
neutral pH-value and should be free from metal attacking ingredients.

Light technique
Luminaire data for the light planning program DIALux for outdoor lighting,
street lighting and indoor lighting as well as luminaire data in EULUMDAT and
IES-format you will find on the BEGA web page
www.bega.com.
The details apply to free burning floodlights.
The lighting intensity is depending on the submerged depth of the floodlight
and on the purity of the water.
Important:
The luminaire must only be operated with a SELV operating device that meets
the requirements of EN 61347-2-13.
The maximum open-circuit voltage of 30 V DC must be SELV or SELV-equivalent.
Alternatively, the connection may be made to safety transformers in compliance
with EN 61558/VDE 0570 Parts 2-6 with an opencircuit voltage of < 30 V DC.
The transformer must be approved for this type of installation.
Safety
The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national
safety regulations.
Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified
electrician.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or
installation. If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the
person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the
manufacturer.
Installation
The floodlight must only be operated under water.
Minimum installation depth of floodlight 3 cm below water level. Undo hexagon
nuts and remove floodlight housing from the slotted fixing bracket. Fix
mounting bracket on the mounting surface using delivered stainless steel
screws. Insert the floodlight housing into the slotted fixing bracket, align
and fix it. Tighten hexagon nuts firmly and evenly. Torque = 5 Nm.
A 24 V safety direct voltage source with a smoothed residual ripple of max. 10
% is required for the electrical connection of the luminaire – see
accessories.
If other safety direct voltage sources are used, an upstream fuse (max. 6 A)
must be provided by the customer.
Make sure that the poles are connected correctly. (otherwise destruction of
the DC-converter)
Connect black conductor with negative pole and red conductor with positive
pole of the power supply unit.
Cleaning · Maintenance
Soilings and foulings on the stainless steel parts should be removed frequently. They can be removed with suitable stainless steel cleansers. For cleaning do not use high pressure cleaners.
Replacement of the LED module ·
Maintenance
Disconnect the electrical installation.
Undo hexagon nuts, remove floodlight housing from the slotted fixing bracket
and lift floodflight above water level.
Open the floodlight: Undo counter sunk screws.
Lift cover ring and glass with gaskets.
Remove reflector.
Disassemble LED module.
Clean the luminaire (see Cleaning ·
Maintenance).
It is imperative to replace damaged gaskets and cable.
The lamp compartment must be completely clean and absolutely dry.
Assemble LED replacement module.
Note installation instructions of the LED module.
Insert reflector.
Place the glass between the gaskets and into the housing.
Make sure that gasket is positioned correctlyApply cover ring and firmly
tighten countersunk-head screw crosswise.
Torque = 3 Nm.
Insert the floodlight housing into the slotted fixing bracket, align and fix
it.
Tighten hexagon nuts firmly and evenly.
Torque = 5 Nm.
Only correctly positioned gaskets and tight screw cable glands guarantee a
watertight housing.
