BEGA 88675 In Ground Luminaire

Product Information

The product is an in-ground luminaire with four-sided light sectors. It is designed for installation in compacted surfaces, paths, or floors. The luminaire is suitable for drive-over applications for vehicles with pneumatic tires, with a pressure load capacity of up to 1,000 kg (~10 kN). However, it should not be used for installation in road lanes where it may be exposed to horizontal strain due to braking, acceleration, and change of direction.

The product features a luminaire cover made of aluminium alloy, a luminaire housing made of cast stainless steel and stainless steel, and an optical lens made of silicate glass. It is equipped with a silicone gasket, a baseplate with 4 fixing holes, and a 1.8 m water-resistant connecting cable with a water stopper and a 1.2 m PVC cable conduit. The LED power supply unit has a voltage range of 220-240 V AC and a frequency range of 50-60 Hz, with a DC output voltage range of 198-264 V.

The product is classified as safety class I and has a protection class IP 67, which means it is dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion. It has a pressure load capacity of 1,000 kg (~10 kN) and an impact strength of IK10. The product is also energyefficient, with light sources  classified as energy efficiency class(es) D and E.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Choose a suitable location for installation in compacted surfaces, paths, or floors.
  2. Ensure the installation area can support the pressure load capacity of up to 1,000 kg (~10 kN).
  3. Avoid installing the luminaire in road lanes where it may be exposed to horizontal strain.
  4. Prepare the installation site by creating a suitable opening or recess for the luminaire.
  5. Connect the luminaire to a suitable power source using the provided water-resistant connecting cable and PVC cable conduit.
  6. Ensure the voltage and frequency of the power source match the specifications of the LED power supply unit (220-240 V AC, 50-60 Hz).
  7. Securely fix the luminaire in place using the baseplate and the provided fixing holes.
  8. Test the functionality of the luminaire by turning on the power.
  9. Regularly clean and maintain the luminaire to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Safety

  • The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national safety regulations.
  • Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
  • We recommend fuse protection via a residual current circuit breaker to be provided by the customer.
  • The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or installation.
  • If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the manufacturer.

Overvoltage protection

  • The electronic components installed in the luminaire are protected against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547.
  • To achieve an additional protection against e. g. transients, etc. we recommend separate overvoltage protection components.
  • You can find them on our website at www.bega.com.

Notice prior to installation:

  • To accept the maximum pressure load of 1,000 kg (~10 kN) a proper foundation must be provided by the customer.
  • The pressure load is transferred onto the foundation by the luminaire housing.
  • Foundation to be provided at site.
  • The foundation must be carried out on firm subgrade.
  • For the tightness of the luminaire it is important that the ground surface prepared later is either on the same level or slightly below top edge of the luminaire housing.
  • The lacquering of the luminaire cover must not be damaged.
  • Chemicals which have a corroding effect must not affect the luminaire housing.

Installation

  • Luminaire housing must not be installed in heat-insulating material.
