SAFE OPERATING PRACTICES FOR ELECTRICALLY POWERED LAWNMOWERS

Training

  • Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and the correct use of the machine.
  • Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the machine. Local regulations can restrict the age of the operator.
  • Never operate the machine while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
  • Keep in mind that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property.

Preparation

  • While operating the machine always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the machine when barefoot or wearing open sandals. Avoid wearing clothing that is loose fitting or that has hanging cords or ties.
  • Thoroughly inspect the area where the machine is to be used and remove all objects which can be thrown by the machine.
  • Before using, always visually inspect to see that the blade, blade bolt and the blade assembly are not worn or damaged. Replace worn or damaged components in sets to preserve balance. Replace damaged or unreadable labels.
  • Before use check the supply and extension cord for signs of damage or aging. If the cord becomes damaged during use, disconnect the cord from the supply immediately. DO NOT TOUCH THE CORD BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE SUPPLY. Do not use the machine if the cord is damaged or worn.

Operation

  • Operate the machine only in daylight or in good artificial light.
  • Avoid operating the machine in wet grass.
  • Always be sure of your footing on slopes.
  • Walk, never run.
  • Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down.
  • Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.
  • Do not mow excessively steep slopes.
  • Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling the machine towards you.
  • Stop the blade(s) if the machine has to be tilted for transportation when crossing surfaces other than grass, and when transporting the machine to and from the area to be used.
  • Never operate the machine with defective guards or shields, or without safety devices, for example deflectors and/or grass collector, in place.
  • Switch on the motor carefully according to instructions and with feet well away from the blade(s).
  • Do not tilt the machine when switching on the motor, except if the machine has to be tilted for starting. In this case, do not tilt it more than absolutely necessary and lift only the part, which is away from the operator.
  • Do not start the machine when standing in front of the discharge opening.
  • Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts. Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.

Stop the machine, and remove the disabling device. Make sure that all moving parts have come to a complete stop

  • whenever you leave the machine,
  • before clearing blockages or unclogging chute,
  • before checking, cleaning or working on the machine,
  • after striking a foreign object. Inspect the machine for damage and make repairs before restarting and operating the machine; if the machine starts to vibrate abnormally (check immediately)
  • inspect for damage,
  • replace or repair any damaged parts,
  • check for and tighten any loose parts.

Maintenance and storage

  • Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure the machine is in safe working condition.
  • Check the grass collector frequently for wear or deterioration.
  • On machines with multi blade, take care as rotating one blade can cause other blades to rotate
  • Be careful during adjustment of the machine to prevent entrapment of the fingers between moving blades and fixed parts of the machine.
  • Always allow the machine to cool down before storing
  • hen servicing the blades be aware that, even though the power source is switched off, the blades can still be moved.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only genuine replacement parts and accessories.

Always wear ear protection!
The declared values for vibration and noise, which have been measured according to a standardised test method, can be used to compare different tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The measurement values have been determined in accordance with ENÂ 60335-2-77:2010.

WARNING!

The actual vibration and noise level when using tools may differ from the specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used and the material. It is therefore necessary to determine which safety precautions are required to protect the user, based on an estimate of exposure in actual operating conditions (taking into account all stages of the work cycle, e.g. the time when the tool is switched off and when it is idling, in addition to the start- up time).

WARNING!

  • The blade starts to rotate immediately when the motor starts.

  • Do not lift the back of the lawn mower when you start the motor or during normal use.
  • Never put your hands or feet under the back of the frame bottom of the frame, or in the ejector when the motor is running.

FOR BEST MOWING RESULTS

  • Remove any rubbish from the lawn.
  • Check that there are no stones, branches, cables or other foreign objects on the lawn that could come into the lawn mower and get thrown out, causing personal injury or material damage.
  • Do not cut wet grass, it will fasten under the lawn mower and prevent effective mowing.
  • Do not mow more than 1/3 of the height of the grass. It is recommended to mow 1/3 of the length of grass. The mowing speed may need to be adjusted to achieve uniform mowing. Especially when mowing thick grass, it may be necessary to use the lowest speed to achieve a good result.
  • When you are mowing long grass it may be necessary to mow twice by lowering the blade to 1/3 of the length of the grass and mowing from another direction than the first time. Mowing a second time helps to remove any remaining blades of grass.
  • The lawn mower should always be run at full power for best mowing results.
  • Clean the underside of the guard after use to prevent grass accumulating, which can prevent effective shredding. The shredding of leaves can be good for the lawn. When shredding leaves you should make sure that they are dry and not lying in a thick layer on the lawn. Do not wait for all the leaves to fall from the trees before mowing the lawn.

  2. Open the stone guard. FIG. 14

CLEANING

Clean the lawn mower with a cloth and brush.

WARNING!

  • Remove the battery before cleaning.
  • Do not clean by spraying water on it. Water can damage the coupling and the electric motor.

REPLACING THE BLADE
Make sure that the blade is balanced (an unbalanced blade can cause damaging vibrations).

  1. Remove the blade (1) by removing the screw (2) and replace any defective parts.
  2. To check the balance, put the round rod through the middle hole and support the blade horizontally. A balanced blade remains horizontal. If the blade is unbalanced move the heavy end down.
  3. Grind the heavy end until the blade is balanced.
  4. Tighten the screw (2) to a torque of 20 Nm. Make sure the blade rotates in the same direction as the motor.MEEC-TOOLS-022106-Battery-Powered-Lawn-Mower-FIG-15
