Installation
Ford Bronco Antenna Mount
STEP 1:
Using a T-25 Torx Socket Wrench or Wrench remove the two T-25 Torx bolts on
the driver side side-view mirror. Align the antenna mount to the two holes on
the side-view mirror with the straighter side toward thefront of the vehicle
and reinstall the two T-25 Torx bolts. Using the antenna mount as a guide use
a Drill with a 3/8” Drill Bit to drill a hole in the plastic trim of the side-
view mirror.
SEE FIGURE A. IMPORTANT:
Once you have penetrated the plastic, do not drill any further. Drilling any deeper could cause serious damage to your vehicle.
STEP 2:
Using a T-25 Torx Socket Wrench or Wrench remove the two T-25 Torx bolts on
the side-view mirror. Remove the plastic piece of trim on the side-view
mirror. With the plastic piece of trim from the side-view mirror separate
from the vehicle, use a Drill with a Step Drill Bit to increase the 3/8” hole
to 1 1/8”. SEE FIGURE B. Use a Drill with a 3/8” Drill Bit to drill a hole in
the trim directly on the small raised arrow next to the raised lettering that
says “access”. SEE FIGURE C. Using Cutting Pliers, cut a channel from the 1
1/8” hole to the new 3/8” hole. Use a File to smooth the edges of the channel.
SEE FIGURE D.
STEP 3:
Unscrew the NMO nut off of the stud on the NMO mount side of the antenna
cable. From the engine compartment with the hood open, route the NMO mount
side of your antenna cable around the inside of the driver side hood hinge
into the inside of the side-view mirror. Once the NMO mount side of your
antenna cable is in the side-view mirror, close the hood to allow easier
access to the top part of the side-view mirror.
STEP 4:
Insert the stud for the antenna NMO through the hole created in the plastic
piece of trim of the side-view mirror and the hole in the antenna mount then
hand tighten the NMO nut. SEE FIGURE E. Inspect the bottom of the side-
view mirror trim to ensure the antenna cable is run through the channel
created. SEE FIGURE F. Snap the plastic trim piece of the side-view mirror
back into place and reinstall the two T-25 Torx bolts into the side-view
mirror. With the mount securely in place, use a Small Crescent Wrench to
tighten the NMO nut to the stud. This nut requires very little torque. Do not
over-tighten! Thread antenna on to antenna mount. SEE FIGURE G.
IMPORTANT: Never transmit without an antenna as this can severely damage the
radio!
