SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING!

Read all warnings, safety instructions and other instructions carefully before use. Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in the risk of electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury. Save these instructions and safety instructions for future reference.

• Always follow these instructions.
• Always follow local regulations for safety at the workplace and prevention of accidents. This product can be used by children from 8 years of age and by persons with physical, sensorial or mental disabilities, or persons who lack experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or receive instructions concerning the safe use of the product and understand the risks involved.
• Do not allow children to clean or maintain the product without supervision.
• The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage to, or caused by, the product in the following situations.
  • Incorrect/unsuitable use.
  • Failure to follow these instructions.
  • If repairs are carried out by non-qualified personnel.
  • If spare parts other than original spare parts are used.
  • If the product is used for anything other than the purpose it is intended for.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR  LITHIUM BATTERIES

• Do not open the battery – risk of short circuiting.
• Do not expose batteries to moisture, direct sunlight or heat – risk of explosion.
• If the battery is damaged or used incorrectly it can emit gas. Ventilate the area and seek medical attention if you experience discomfort. Gas can irritate the respiratory organs.
• Failure to handle the battery carefully can cause fluid to leak from the battery. Avoid contact with battery fluid. On contact with battery fluid, rinse immediately with plenty of fresh water. Seek medical attention on contact with battery fluid. Fluid leaking from the battery can cause irritation or burns.
• Only use original batteries from the manufacturer, with the voltage specified on the type plate on the power tool. The use of non original batteries or reconditioned batteries can result in a risk of explosion and personal injury.
• Check that the rated voltage of the battery corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate on the charger. The charging of other batteries can cause a fire risk and/or explosion.
• The battery must only be charged with the charger recommended by the manufacturer. A charger intended for one type of battery can result in a fire risk if used with another type of battery.
• Handle the battery with care – do not expose it to knocks and blows, and protect it from contact with nails, screwdrivers and other sharp objects. Negligent handling and sharp objects can cause short circuiting in the battery, resulting in the emission of fumes, overheating, fire or explosion.
• Stop charging and/or using the battery immediately if it is damaged, deformed, abnormally hot, smells, or exhibits other unusual characteristics.
• Minor battery leakage can occur in extreme operating conditions or hot temperatures. If you get battery fluid on your skin or clothes, wash immediately with soap and water. Neutralise with lemon juice, vinegar or other weak acid.
• If you get battery fluid in your eyes, rinse your eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes and then seek medical attention immediately.

WARNING!

The product produces an electromagnetic field when in use. This field can in some circumstances affect active or passive medical implants. If you have a medical implant
you should consult your doctor and/or the manufacturer of the medical implant before using the product to reduce the risk of serious or fatal personal injury.

IMPORTANT:

• Do not dismantle the battery or attempt to replace the battery cells.
• Short circuiting the battery terminals on this battery by jewellery or tools can result in serious burn injuries.

STORAGE OF BATTERIES

• Fully charge the battery and disconnect it from the charger before putting it into storage.
• Do not store the battery where it can be exposed to direct sunlight or heat, for example near fireplaces or other sources of heat, as this will reduce the life span of the battery.
• The battery must be charged more often if it has to be stored in a warm place.

IMPORTANT:

• Store the battery in a dry place at no more than 27°C.
• Store the battery with a 30% – 50% charge.
• Charge the battery every seven months during long-term storage.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BATTERY CHARGER

WARNING!

• Read all the instructions and safety instructions carefully before use. Failure to follow all the instructions below can result in the risk of electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.

• Only charge lithium batteries, and only one battery at once. Other types of batteries can crack and cause personal injury and material damage.

• Do not charge outdoors or in damp conditions. There is an increased risk of electric shock if water gets into the charger.

• Keep the charger clean. Dirt and impurities increase the risk of electric shock.

• Check the charger, power cord and plug before use. Do not use the charger if it is damaged, or if its power cord and plug are damaged. Never attempt to open, modify or repair the charger. Repairs may only be carried out by qualified personnel using identical spare parts. Damaged chargers, power cords or plugs increase the risk of electric shock.

• Do not put any objects on the charger or put it on a soft surface – risk of fire.

• Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate.

• Do not use accessories other than those recommended or sold by the battery manufacturer. The use of other accessories can result in fire, electric shock or personal injury.

• Be careful with the power cord and charger. Never carry or pull the charger with the power cord. Do not pull the power cord to pull out the plug.
  This can damage the power cord and result in the risk of electric shock.
  A damaged cord or plug must be replaced by an authorised service centre or qualified person to ensure safe use.

• Make sure that there is no risk of tripping over it, or it being damaged or put under strain. This reduces the risk of injury caused by tripping or falling, and damage to the cord or electric shock.

• Protect the charger and power cord from excessive heat – risk of damaging the casing and internal parts.

• Do not use petrol, solvents or detergents that can damage the plastic parts.

• Do not use a damp cloth or detergent on the product. The product must only be cleaned with a dry, soft cloth.

• Do not use an extension cord unless absolutely necessary. Unsuitable extension cords can risk causing a fire and/or electric shock. If an extension lead must be used, check that:

  • The plug on the extension cord is the same size and shape, and has the same number of pins as the plug on the product.
  • The wires in the extension cord are correctly connected and in good condition.
  • The cross-sectional wire area is sufficient for the power supply to the product.

• Do not use the product if the power cord or plug are damaged – risk of electric shock. A damaged cord or plug must be replaced by an authorised service centre or qualified person to ensure safe use.

• Do not use the product if it is damaged or not working properly, or if the power cord or plug are damaged. Take the product to an authorised service centre to be checked and/or repaired.

• Do not attempt to dismantle or repair the product. Allow an authorised service centre to check and/or repair if necessary.

• Incorrect assembly can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

• Always pull out the plug before cleaning and/or maintenance to reduce the risk of electric shock.

• Pull out the plug when the product is not in use. This reduces the risk of electric shock and material damage if a metal object drops down on or in the product. It also reduces the risk of damaging the product in the event of voltage transients in the power supply.

• Electrical safety – do not touch uninsulated parts of the output connections or battery terminals.

• Save these instructions for future reference. These instructions should be enclosed with the product if it is borrowed, sold or passed on.

USE

BATTERY

IMPORTANT:
The product must only be charged with Meec Tools battery chargers with part numbers 011214 / 011215. No other battery chargers must be used to charge this product.

Charging status
Press the button beside the charge indicator to see the charging status of the battery.

Charging the battery

NOTE:

• Make sure there is adequate ventilation when charging.
• Do not cover or block the ventilation openings – risk of overheating.

Batteries are supplied with a weak charge and must be charged before using for the first time. If the charger does not charge the battery after following these instructions, return the battery and charger to the retailer to be checked and rectified. The charging time varies depending on the battery capacity.

Note
Do not put the charger in a very hot or very cold place. The charger works best at room temperature. The battery gets warm during the charging. This is quite normal.

1. Plug the charger into a power point.
2. Align the strip on the battery to the slot in the charger, and press the battery in place.
3. Press the battery in place so that the connectors on the battery come into contact with the connectors on the charger. The green status light flashes when charging is in progress.
4. When the battery is fully charged the green status light stays on.
5. Remove the battery from the charger.
6. Unplug the charger from the power point.

IMPORTANT:
The battery must be removed from the charger if all the status lights go off when in use to prevent damage. Do not attempt to charge another battery. Take the charger and battery to an authorised service centre to be repaired or replaced.

Charging a warm battery
Battery can get warm when used in a power tool. In which case, allow the battery to cool before charging. If a battery is put in the charger while it is still too warm the red status light will go on and the green light will remain off. Remove the battery from the charger, allow it to cool for 30 minutes and then try again.

Charging a cold battery
A cold battery can be put in the charger immediately, but charging will not start before the temperature off the battery has equalised. If a battery is put in the charger while it is still too cold the red status light will go on and the green light will remain off. Charging starts automatically when the battery has become warm enough.

Status lights when charging

The following status lights are shown when the battery is put in the charger to indicate battery status.

MAINTENANCE
Wipe the battery and charger with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use water or detergent.

IMPORTANT:
Do not use a damp cloth, petrol, solvent or detergent for cleaning.

STORAGE

• Store in a cool, dark and dry place.
• During long-term storage batteries should be charged at least once every six months to ensure maximum battery life.
