SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read the operating instructions carefully before use!
Please retain for future reference.

  • Keep the extension cable at a safe distance from the brush head.

  • Wear protective goggles or face protection. Never use spare parts or accessories which are not included or have not been approved by the retailer.

  • Disconnect the plug from the socket if the power cable is damaged during use. Do not touch the power cable before it has been disconnected from the socket.

  • Familiarise yourself with the paving stone cleaner’s functions and how it should be operated before use.

  • The paving stone cleaner should not be used by children or unqualified people.

  • Wear safety footwear.

  • Wear long trousers.

  • Do not expose the paving stone cleaner to rain.

  • Do not immerse the paving stone cleaner in water or any other liquid.

  • Check the paving stone cleaner before use. Do not use the paving stone cleaner if it is damaged.

  • Ask an authorised service centre to repair the paving stone cleaner if it is damaged.

  • Do not use the paving stone cleaner if the guard is damaged or worn.

  • Do not use the paving stone cleaner if the power cable is damaged or worn.

  • Check the extension cable is not damaged or worn before use. Immediately disconnect the plug from the socket if there is any damage. Do not touch the cable before the plug has been disconnected from the socket.

  • Do not use the paving stone cleaner around children or animals.

  • Only use the paving stone cleaner in daylight or in well-lit areas.

  • Check the brush is fitted according to the instructions.

  • Use the accompanying tools when fitting the brush in order to avoid damaging the paving stone cleaner.

  • Use protective gloves when fitting the brush.

  • Run the paving stone cleaner at a low speed in a safe area after fitting the brush. Immediately switch off the paving stone cleaner if it vibrates considerably or if there is any sign of damage to the brush.

  • Do not use worn or damaged brushes.

  • Never use the paving stone cleaner without a fitted protective hood.

  • Do not use the paving stone cleaner during rain or snow.

  • Do not use the paving stone cleaner on wet weeds.

  • Remove sticks, stones, cables and any other objects from the area you intend to clean before using the paving stone cleaner.

  • Only use the paving stone cleaner in a vertical position with the brush positioned against the ground.
    Never start the paving stone cleaner in any other position.

  • You should only move the paving stone cleaner around on foot.

  • Do not press the paving stone cleaner against the surface.

  • Always keep hands and feet away from the brush.

  • Avoid touching the brush.

  • Check the power cable is not touching the brush.

  • Switch the paving stone cleaner off and wait until the brush has fully stopped before laying the paving stone cleaner down. Never attempt to stop the brush.

  • Check that the paving stone cleaner’s maximum speed does not exceed the brush’s maximum permitted speed.

  • Discolouration from rust or other signs of chemical or mechanical changes to the brush could lead to defects.

  • Store the brushes in suitable holders or containers in order to protect them from the following:
    – High humidity, heat, water or other liquids which could damage the brushes.
    – Exposure to acid or acidic fumes which could decompose the brushes.
    – Low temperatures which could cause condensation when the brushes are moved to an area with higher temperatures.
    – Distortion of the brush’s parts.

  • Note that the brush will continue to rotate for a moment after the paving stone cleaner has been switched off.

  • Only use brush types recommended by the manufacturer.

  • Disconnect the plug from the socket after you have finished working with the paving stone cleaner, before any service and whenever the paving stone cleaner is not in use.

  • Store the paving stone cleaner in a safe place out of reach of children.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

  • Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the rating plate.
  • The paving stone cleaner should be connected to a power circuit protected by an RCD of max. 30 mA.
  • Only use extension cables of the following types: H05VV-F, H05RN-F and H05RR-F.

ASSEMBLY

Fitting the two parts of the paving stone cleaner

  1. Insert the upper part of the paving stone cleaner into the lower part. NOTE!
    Ensure the cable does not become caught.

  2. Attach the two parts to each other using two of the accompanying screws.

Fitting the protective hood
Secure the protective hood (3) onto the engine casing using two of the accompanying screws.

Fitting the brush
NOTE! Always disconnect the paving stone cleaner’s plug before fitting or dismantling the brush.
Use the accompanying tools when fitting the brush in order to avoid damaging the paving stone cleaner.
Use protective gloves when fitting the brush.

  1. Insert the accompanying metal pin into the hole on the axle to lock the axle (A).

  2. Loosen the nut which holds the brush (B).
    Ensure the axle is locked the entire time.

  3. Remove the brush from the axle.

  4. Fit the new brush onto the axle.

  5. Ensure the brush’s rotation direction is aligned with the direction of the arrow on the guard. There is an arrow on the brush which indicates the brush’s rotation direction.

  6. Tighten the nut while simultaneously keeping the axle fixed.

  7. Follow the instructions in reverse order to detach the brush.

OPERATION

Intended use
The paving stone cleaner is intended to be used for removing weeds from outdoor areas and between paving stones. The paving stone cleaner is intended for household use, not professional use.

Starting and stopping

  1. First press the starting lock followed by the power switch to start the paving stone cleaner.
  2. Release the power switch to switch off the paving stone cleaner.

Use

  1. Connect the paving stone cleaner to a suitable extension cable.
  2. Wind the extension cable around the strain-relief.
  3. Hold the paving stone cleaner with both hands.
  4. Press the starting lock and power switch.
  5. Run the paving stone cleaner at a steady speed over the surface.
  6. For best results the paving stone cleaner should not be used on wet surfaces.
  7. Brush longer joints first and shorter ones afterwards.
  8. Do not use the paving stone cleaner on the same area over a long period as the brushes could then brush too deeply and remove the sand between the joints.
  9. Brush regularly to avoid ending up with stubborn weeds.

Choosing the brush

  • The steel brush should be used on tough weeds and surfaces that are not fragile.
    The nylon brush should be used on smaller quantities of weeds or on fragile surfaces.

  • The paving stone cleaner should be tested on a small area first. Check that the brush does not damage the paving stones. Do not use the paving stone cleaner on sensitive surfaces.

  • Keep the paving stone cleaner away from hard objects and plants.

  • Brush regularly to avoid ending up with stubborn weeds.

MAINTENANCE

  • Clean the paving stone cleaner after each use.
  • Ensure the air vents are not clogged with dirt.
  • Regularly brush any dirt off the paving stone cleaner using a soft brush.
  • Wipe the paving stone cleaner at regular intervals using a soft cloth dampened with a small amount of soapy water. Do not use any polish or corrosive cleaning agents or solvents to clean the paving stone cleaner.
  • Store the paving stone cleaner in an area out of reach of children when not in use.
