Cleaning & Assembly
Step 1
- Remove the nut from the threaded end of the spigot body, as well as the two stainless steel washers, and the two silicone washers. Unscrew the top cap on top of the metal sleeve, being careful not to lose the silicone washer inside the cap or the blue float ball in the glass tube. Place the glass tube somewhere safe so it does not roll.
Step 2
- Clean parts in warm soapy water. DO NOT LOSE THE SILICONE WASHER located inside the top cap. The glass tube will leak if the rubber washer is not in place.
- Hand wash only. Do not wash in a dishwasher.
- A small soft brush may be used to clean the inside of the glass tube.
Step 3
- Rinse and dry all parts.
- Insert glass tube into stainless steel sleeve.
- (Optional) Reinsert the blue float ball into the glass tube.
- Ensure the silicone washer is in the top cap. Securely tighten the top cap by hand.
- Move on to installation.
Installation
- Step 1
- Discard any water in the upper and lower chambers and remove your existing spigot.
- Ensure that the top cap is securely tightened by hand. A leak may occur at the base of the glass tube if it is not secure.
- Place one stainless steel washer over the threads of the spigot and position it so the beveled side faces away from the stainless steel chamber. (See image below)
- Then place one silicone washer over the threads of the spigot.
- Step 2
- Insert the threaded end of the spigot through the hole in the lower chamber of your Berkey® System.
- Place the remaining silicone washer and then the remaining stainless steel washer onto the spigot threads inside the lower chamber. Position the beveled side of the metal washer away from the hole in the lower chamber. (See first image)
- Secure the spigot in place with the nut.
- Step 3
- Ensure that the rubber base ring of your Berkey® System is not pinched by the exterior washers of the spigot.
- When the spigot is open, the arm will be straight. When the spigot is closed, the arm will be facing to the right. To avoid leaking, ensure the spigot is in the closed position when not in use.
- Your Stainless Steel Berkey Water View™ Spigot is now ready for use!
