SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING!
Read all the safety instructions and other instructions. Failure to follow the safety instructions and other instructions can result in electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury. Save all the safety instructions and other instructions for future reference. The term “power tool” in the safety instructions refers to your mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered (cordless) power tool.

SAFETY IN THE WORK AREA
  • Make sure the work area is clean and well lit. Untidy or poorly lit work areas can cause accidents.
  • Do not work with this power tool in environments where there is a risk of explosion, or where there are flammable liquids, gas or dust. Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes.
  • Keep children and other persons at a safe distance when using the power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control of the tool.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
  • The plug on the power tool must match the power point. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do not use adapter plugs together with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and suitable sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
  • Do not expose the power tool to rain or moisture. There is an increased risk of electric shock if water enters a power tool.
  • Do not use the power cord for other purposes, e.g. to carry or hang up the power tool, or to pull the plug out of the power point. Protect the power cord from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving machine parts. Damaged or tangled power cords increase the risk of electric shock.
  • When working outdoors with the power tool only use an extension cord intended for outdoor use.
  • If you have to use the power tool in damp conditions use a residual current device. Use of a residual current device reduces the risk of electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
  • Pay full attention to what you are doing.
  • Use your common sense when working with power tools. Do not use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention can result in serious personal injury.
  • Use personal safety equipment and always wear safety glasses. The use of personal protective equipment, e.g. dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, helmet and ear protection, according to the type of power tool and application, reduces the risk of injury.
  • Avoid accidently starting the power tool. Check that the tool is switched off before connecting it to the power supply and/or battery, or before lifting it or carrying it. Avoid holding your finger on the power switch when carrying the power tool. If the power tool is connected to the power supply when the power switch is switched on this can result in personal injury.
  • Remove adjusting tools before starting the power tool. A tool or screwdriver left in a rotating machine part can result in personal injury.
  • Avoid awkward postures. Make sure you have a firm footing and can maintain your balance at all times. This will ensure you have better control over the power tool in unexpected situations.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewelry. Do not allow your hair, clothes or gloves to come near moving parts. Loose-fitting clothing ,jewelry or long hair can get caught in moving parts.
  • If dust extraction devices can be fitted, make sure they are properly connected and used. Dust extraction reduces dust related risks.
USING AND LOOKING AFTER POWER TOOLS
  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the planned work. The tool does the job better and safer when used at the rate for which it was designed.
  • Do not use the tool if it cannot be switched on and off with the power switch. Power tools that cannot be controlled with the power switch are dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Unplug the power cord before making any adjustments, changing accessories or putting the power tool away. These safety precautions reduce the risk of accidently starting the power tool.
  • Store power tools out of the reach of children when not in use. Never allow children, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
  • Keep power tools properly maintained. Check that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam, and that no parts are incorrectly fitted or damaged. Check for other factors that could affect functionality. If the power tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
  • Use the power tool, accessories and bits etc., in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the actual working conditions and the work that is to be done. It can be dangerous to use power tools for purposes other than those they are intended to be used for.
USING AND MAINTAINING BATTERYPOWERED TOOLS
  • Charge the batteries only with the charger recommended by the manufacturer. The use of another charger can result in the risk of personal injury and fire.
  • Only use batteries intended for the power tool. The use of other batteries can result in the risk of personal injury and fire.
  • Do not allow batteries to come into contact with paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other small metal objects that can result in short circuiting. Short circuiting the battery terminals can result in the risk of burn injuries or fire.
  • Incorrect use can cause liquid to leak from the battery. Avoid touching this. Rinse with water after unintentional contact. Seek medical attention if you get battery fluid in your eyes. Leaking battery fluid can cause skin irritation or burn injuries.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Kickback and other warnings

Kickback is a sudden reaction when a rotating disc, backing pad, brush or other accessory jams or catches on something. Jamming or catching will cause the rotating accessory to block suddenly, which in turn can force the power tool in the opposite direction to the rotating accessory. For example, if a grinding disc pinches or sticks in the workpiece, the edge of the disc that goes in at the sticking point could dig into the material and cause the disc to recoil and kick back. The disc can jump either towards or away from the user, depending on the direction of rotation of the disc when it jams. Grinding discs can also break in these situations. Kickback is a result of the incorrect use of the power tool, and/or incorrect procedures and working conditions.
Kickback can be avoided by observing the safety measures described below:

  1. Keep a firm grip on the tool and position your body and arm so you can resist the force of a sudden kickback. Always use the support handle, if there is one, for maximum control of the kickback or torque response when starting the tool. The user can control torque response and kickback if the appropriate precautions are taken.
  2. Never put your hands near the rotating accessory. Kickback can cause the accessory to touch your hand.
  3. Keep your body away from the area where the power tool will go if there is a kickback. Kickback forces the tool in the opposite direction to the rotation of the disc.
  4. Take extra care when working on corners and sharp edges, etc. Avoid letting the accessory bounce or catching. Corners, sharp edges and bouncing can cause the rotating accessory to catch and cause the user to lose control of the tool, or cause it to kick back.
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR GRINDING AND ABRASIVE CUTTING
  • Use only the types of disc recommended for your power tool and the specific guard designed for your chosen disc. Discs that the tool is not designed for cannot be properly protected and are therefore not safe.
  • The grinding surface on discs with a recessed center must be fitted below the plane of the protective flange. An incorrectly fitted disc that projects through the plane of the guard flange cannot be properly protected.
  • The guard must be firmly fixed to the power tool and positioned for maximum safety, so that the smallest possible part of the disc is exposed to the user. The guard helps to protect the user against broken-off fragments of disc, accidental contact with the disc, and sparks that could set fire to clothing.
  • Discs must only be used for the recommended applications. For example: Do not grind with the side of a cutting disc. Abrasive cutting discs are intended for grinding with the outer edges. If lateral forces are applied to these discs, they can shatter.
  • Always use undamaged disc flanges of the right size and shape for the disc you have chosen. Correct disc flanges support the disc and therefore reduce the risk of the disc breaking. Flanges for cutting discs can differ from flanges for grinding discs.
  • Do not use worn down discs from a larger power tool. Discs from larger power tools are not suitable for the higher speeds of small tools and can shatter
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BONDED GRINDING DISCS

Grinding discs can break and are sensitive to impact and pressure. For this reason take the following precautions when handling grinding discs:

  • Do not drop grinding discs or subject them to knocks and blows.
  • Do not use damaged grinding discs or discs that have been dropped.
  • Avoid damaging the centre hole.
  • Do not subject grinding discs to heavy weights; do not put anything on top of them.
  • Store grinding discs flat, or upright in a dry and frost-free place.
  • When possible keep grinding discs in their original packaging, or in special containers or on special shelves.
VIBRATION AND NOISE ATTENUATION

To reduce the effects of noise and vibrations you should limit the time in use, use the low-vibration and low-noise modes, and wear personal safety equipment. Observe the following to minimize the risk of exposure to vibrations and loud noise:

  • Only use the power tool for the purpose it was designed for, and in accordance with these instructions.
  • Make sure that the power tool is in good condition and well maintained.
  • Use the right accessories for the power tool and make sure they are in good condition.
  • Keep a firm grip on the handles/gripping surface.
  • Maintain the power tool in accordance with these instructions and make sure it is well lubricated (where applicable).
  • Plan the work schedule to spread the use of tools with heavy vibrations over a longer period.
EMERGENCY MODE

Familiarize yourself with the use of this power tool with the help of these instructions. Commit the safety instructions to memory and follow them to the letter. This will help you to avoid risks and dangerous situations.

  • Always pay attention when using this power tool, so that you can detect and handle risks at an early stage. Prompt action can prevent serious personal injury and material damage.
  • Switch off the power tool and unplug it from the power supply in the event of a fault. Make sure the power tool is checked by a qualified professional, and if necessary repaired, before using it again.
OTHER RISKS

Even if you use this power tool in accordance with all the safety instructions, there is still a risk of personal injury and other damage. The following hazards related to the design and construction of this power tool can occur:

  • Effects on health from vibration if the tool is used for long periods, or is not handled and maintained correctly.
  • Personal injury and material damage as a result of defective accessories and hitting hidden objects when using the tool.
  • Risk of personal injury and material damage as a result of ejected objects.
  • Damage to lungs (if an effective face mask is not worn).
  • Damage to ears (if effective ear protection is not worn).

WARNING!
This power tool produces an electromagnetic field during use. This field can in some circumstances affect active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or life-threatening injury, persons with medical implants are therefore advised to consult their doctor and the manufacturer of the implant before using this power tool.

SERVICE

The power tool must only be serviced by qualified personnel using identical spare parts. This will ensure that the power tool remains safe to use.

REDUCTION OF NOISE AND VIBRATIONS
  • Plan the work so that exposure to heavy vibrations is spread over a longer period.
  • To reduce noise and vibrations when in use, limit the time the tool is in use, and use low-power/vibration mode and suitable safety equipment.
  • Take the following precautions to minimize the risks of exposure to vibrations and/or noise:
    – Only use the tool in accordance with these instructions.
    – Check that the tool is in good condition.
    – Use accessories in good condition, and which are suitable for the purpose.
    – Keep a firm grip on the handles/ grips.
    – Maintain and lubricate the tool in accordance with these instructions.
DUST
  • Dust produced during the work can be harmful to health, carcinogenic, flammable or explosive.
  • The dust from some alloys can catch fire, or explode. Mixtures of materials increase the risk – keep the work area clean.
  • Use a dust filter mask and suitable equipment for dust extraction/collection.
OTHER RISKS

Even if the power tool is used in accordance with these instructions there are always other potential risks. The following risks can occur as a result of the design and type of power tool:

  • Damage to lungs if dust mask is not used.
  • Hearing impairment if ear protection is not used.
  • Health hazard resulting from hand and arm vibrations if the machine is used for longer than specified in the instructions, or not used and maintained according to the instructions.

Always wear ear protection!
The declared values for vibration and noise, which have been measured according to a standardised test method, can be used to compare different tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The measurement values have been determined in accordance with EN 60745-2-23: 2013.

WARNING!
The actual vibration level when using power tools may differ from the specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used.
It is therefore necessary to determine which safety precautions are required to protect the user, based on an estimate of exposure in actual operating conditions (taking into account all stages of the work cycle, e.g. the time when the tool is switched off and when it is idling, in addition to the start- up time)

The product is intended for drilling, routing, engraving, polishing, cleaning, grinding and cutting materials such as wood, metal, plastic, ceramic or stone. The product must only be used in dry areas and with accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Product contains 50 accessories. The product is only intended for household use.

ATTACHMENT

REPLACING BIT HOLDER
  1. Apply the spindle lock and keep it locked.
  2. Twist the tensioning nut until the lock engages.
  3. Unscrew the tensioning nut from the thread with the spanner.
  4. Remove any accessories.
  5. Insert the required accessory through the tensioning nut and then put it in a bit holder that fits the shank of the accessory.
  6. Apply the spindle lock and keep it locked.
  7. Put the bit holder in the threaded insert and tighten the tensioning nut with the spanner.

USE

  • Do not use the product for any other purpose than the one it is intended to be used for. Only use accessories and spare parts recommended by the manufacturer.
  • The use of accessories or attachments other than those recommended in these instructions can result in a risk of personal injury.
  • Do not press too hard, this can cause the accessory to break and/or damage the workpiece. For best results, move the accessory smoothly over the workpiece, applying a slight pressure.
  • Hold the product firmly with both hands when cutting.
  • The largest diameter for composite grinding accessories, conical grinding bits and pencil grinder bits with threaded insert must not be more than 55 mm.
  • The largest diameter for accessories for sandpaper sanding must not be more than 80 mm.
  • The largest acceptable spindle length is 33 mm.
ADJUSTING THE SPEED
  • Use router bits for working steel and iron at maximum speed.
  • Determine a suitable speed for working zinc, zinc alloys, aluminium and copper by testing on pieces of scrap.
  • Use a low speed for working on plastic and materials with a low melting point.
  • Use high speed for working in wood.
  • Use a medium speed for cleaning and polishing.

STARTING
  1. Put the power switch in the I position.
  2. Set the required speed from 1 to MAX with the speed control.
SWITCHING OFF

Put the power switch in the O position.

CHARGING THE BATTERY
  1. Connect the charger to the product.
  2. Connect the charger to a power point.
    The battery is fully charged when the charge indicator is red/orange/green. The charging indicator light shows the battery status as follows when the product is started.
    • Red, orange and green = fully charged.
    • Red and orange = partially charged.
    • Red = discharged. Charge the battery.

NOTE:

  • Charge the battery before using it for the first time and if the product has not been used for some time. The battery reaches full capacity after it has been charged and discharged 3 or 5 times. Charging time: approx. 60 minutes.
  • Never charge the battery again immediately after it has been charged – risk of overcharging.

MAINTENANCE

  • The product must only be serviced by qualified personnel using identical spare parts. This will ensure that the product remains safe to use.
  • A damaged cord or plug must be replaced by an authorised service centre or other qualified personnel to ensure safe use.
  • Clean the casing from dust and dirt with a dry cloth.
  • Charge the battery before using it for the first time and if the product has not been used for some time.
  • Check the battery charge status at regular intervals if the product has not been used for some time. The optimum charge is 50 to 80%.
  • Store the product in a cool and dry place.
