SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR MULTISAWS
General safety instructions for multi-saws
- Keep your hands and the rest of your body away from the chain when the product is running. Check that the chain is not touching the ground or an object when starting the product. A moment of inattention or carelessness can result in serious personal injury.
- Hold the multi-saw by the insulated grips when working in areas where the chain could come into contact with concealed cables or its own power cord. Contact with a live cable will cause the metal parts on the saw to also become live – risk of electric shock.
- Wear safety glasses or a visor. Ear protection, a safety helmet with visor, safety gloves and non-slip safety shoes with protection for the lower part of the leg are recommended. The proper protective equipment reduces the risk of personal injury in the event of contact with the chain or ejected material.
- Never use the product from a ladder, tree or other unstable place. This could cause you to lose your balance or lose control of the product.
- Branches under tension can spring away when they are cut and cause personal injury and/or cause you to lose control of the product.
- Be careful when sawing bushes. The thin stems can fasten in the chain and hit you or cause you to lose your balance.
- Switch off the product before moving. Carry the product with the handle and with the bar pointing away from your body. Transport and store the product with the supplied guard fitted. Using the appliance properly reduces the risk of coming into contact with the chain.
- Follow the instructions for lubrication, tensioning the chain, and replacing the bar and chain. The wrong tension and/or lubrication of the chain can result in a risk of the chain breaking and/or kickback.
- Only use the product to saw wood. Do not use the product for any other purpose than the one it is intended to be used for. Do not attempt to saw plastic, bricks or building materials not made of wood. Incorrect use can result in the risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
- The product is not intended for profession felling of trees. Incorrect use can result in the risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
- Follow all the instructions before removing jammed material and before service and/ or storage. Check that the power switch is switched off and the battery removed. If the product is started unintentionally during service or when removing material there is a risk of serious personal injury.
CAUSES OF KICKBACK AND WAYS TO PREVENT IT
-
Kickback can occur if the tip or topside of the bar comes into contact with wood or other solid objects, or if the chain jams in the cut.
-
The product then kicks up and back with great force, which can cause serious personal injury, or death. If the chain fastens along the top of the bar, this can cause the saw to be pressed back towards the user.
-
This can also result in serious personal injury or death. Do not rely on the safety mechanisms on the product. The correct and careful way of working is the only reliable method of reducing the risk of kickback.
-
Kickback occurs during incorrect use of the saw and/or incorrect working methods or conditions, but can be prevented by taking the following steps.
- Hold the product firmly with both hands and hold your arms and body in a position that prevents kickback. Kickback can cause the product to jerk backwards, but the user can control this by taking the appropriate measures. Keep a firm grip on the handles with both hands.
- Do not overreach. Never saw above shoulder height. This ensures better control over the product in unexpected situations.
- Only use a bar and chain recommended by the manufacturer. The use of other bars and/or chains increases the risk of the chain breaking and/or kickback.
- Follow the instructions to maintain the product and sharpen the chain. A worn or incorrectly sharpened chain increases the risk of kickback.
MINIMISATION OF NOISE AND VIBRATION
- To reduce noise and vibrations when in use, limit the time the tool is in use, and use low-power/vibration mode and suitable safety equipment.
- Take the following precautions to minimise the risks of exposure to vibrations and/or noise.
- Only use the product in accordance with these instructions.
- Make sure that the product is in good condition.
- Use sharp accessories in good condition and suitable for the purpose.
- Keep a firm grip on the handles/grips.
- Maintain and lubricate the product in accordance with these instructions.
- Plan the work so that exposure to heavy vibrations is spread over several days.

The declared values for vibration and noise, which have been measured
according to a standardised test method, can be used to compare different
tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The
measurement values have been determined in accordance with EN 62841-1 :2015.
WARNING!
The actual vibration and noise level when using tools may differ from the
specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used and the material.
It is therefore necessary to determine which safety precautions are required
to protect the user, based on an estimate of exposure in actual operating
conditions (taking into account all stages of the work cycle, e.g. the time
when the tool is switched off and when it is idling, in addition to the start-
up time).

USE
IMPORTANT!
- Never stretch your hands over the splitting knife (4) or under the guide plate (8) -risk of personal injury.
- Never start the saw if the chain is in, or in contact with, the workpiece, or could come into contact with an object- risk of serious personal injury.
- Secure loose workpieces before sawing. Remove foreign objects such as nails, screws etc.
- Branches under tension can spring away when they are cut and cause personal injury, and/or cause you to lose control of the saw.
- Be careful when sawing bushes. The thin stems can fasten in the chain and hit you or cause you to lose your balance.
- When the chain moves, first place the guide plate (8) against the surface of the workpiece and allow the saw to do the work. Do not press too hard on the saw. The speed of the chain should not be reduced.
Kickback
- The shape of the splitting knife (4) reduces the risk of kickback.
- The splitting knife and its tip guard are designed to prevent kickback. Never remove the splitting knife (4) – risk of personal injury.
STARTING / STOPPING
Do not run the saw without lubricating the chain with saw chain oil, this will
damage the chain and the bar.
- Put the battery in the battery holder.
- Hold the saw firmly with the handle.
- To start the saw, first press the lock button (1).
- Then press the power switch (10).
- Release the power switch to switch off.
CHAIN
Running-in the chain
- Remove the battery and adjust the chain tension.
- Start the saw and run it with no load for about 5 minutes.
- Remove the battery and check the chain tension. Tension the chain, if necessary.
- Do some more simple work for about 30 minutes. Make sure that the saw chain is always correctly lubricated. Make more demanding and deeper cuts only after the running-in has been completed.
NOTE:
- Only use sharp chains. A blunt chain can jam more easily. Check the chain tension at regular intervals when the chain is new – the chain stretches more in the beginning.
- New chains must be adjusted after sawing for a short time.
Chain tension
IMPORTANT:
- Do not overtighten the chain, this can cause the chain to break, wear out the bar, and/or damage the sprocket.
- If the chain is too loose it can jump off the bar. The chain can become slacker when in use. Always check the tension of the chain before starting and at regular intervals during the work.
- Do not tension the chain when it is hot. When it cools it becomes shorter and can rest too tightly on the bar. Allow the chain to cool before tensioning it.
- The chain can get hot when in use and need tensioning. Slacken the chain after finishing the work so that it is not tensioned too tightly next time the saw is started when it is cold.
- The tension of the chain is important for the safety and functionality of the saw. The saw will last longer if the chain is correctly tensioned.
- Satisfactory lubrication and correct tensioning are important for the life span of the chain.
- Always check the tension of the chain before use.
- The chain is correctly tensioned if it can be pulled round the bar by hand without sagging. Wear safety gloves.
Adjusting the chain tension
- Remove the battery.
- Undo the bar screw (3) a little to release the sprocket casing a little.
- Adjust the tension of the chain. Turn the adjuster screw for the chain (7) clockwise to tension and anticlockwise to reduce the tension. Tension the chain so that the gap between the chain and the bottom of the bar is about 3-4 mm in the middle of the bar.
- Tighten the bar screw (3) to lock the sprocket casing in place.
FIG.3
Replacing the chain
- Remove the battery before replacing the chain. Wear gloves when handling the chain.
- Check the chain with bar for damage and wear.
- Never fit a new chain on a worn bar.
- Always run-in new chains.
- The chain must be fitted in the correct direction of rotation.
MAINTENANCE
Maintain the saw in accordance with these instructions for best functionality and life span. Remove the battery from the saw before adjustment, maintenance and/or replacing accessories. Check that all screw unions are firmly tightened at regular intervals.
CLEANING
-
Clean the saw after use.
-
Carefully clean the groove in bar. Replace the bar if the groove is damaged or worn and allows the chain to move sideways too much.
-
Clean the area around the sprocket with a brush and/or compressed air.
-
Remove dust and chips with a cloth or brush. Keep the ventilation opening on the saw clean.
-
Clean the saw with a cloth moistened with water and a mild detergent.
