A: It is not recommended to paint over the insulation material as it
may affect its performance.
Q: Is the insulation material waterproof?
A: While the material provides some water resistance, it is not
completely waterproof and should not be submerged in water.
Recommended Installation Instructions
Prepping the Surface
Start by getting all metal surfaces clean of dust, debris, oil, wax, and
moisture. For this, we recommend a microfiber cloth, a breathing mask, and a
quick-drying solvent such as Acetone. If you have some rust, it may require a
bit more attention and detail to ensure the material will stick well. Once all
the surfaces have been prepped and properly air dried, we can start applying
material. Our material is unique, so a household pair of scissors, exacto
knife, or razor blade can be used to cut whatever shapes you need.
Installation
Place the material on a flat surface and you can measure the size you will need (paper or cardboard can be used to cut templates). After you have made your cut, peel off the white paper on the back covering the adhesive. When you’re ready to apply, pick a place to start (it is best to start from the top down) so you can work the material all one direction and minimize any trapped air pockets. You can push the material with your hand with medium pressure outwards until the material has complete contact. If you see any possible trapped air, you can use the point of a razor blade or a sewing needle to poke a hole and push down the material. The main focus is to ensure the adhesive has proper contact with the metal surface. Check that any holes that require fastening hardware are not blocked. Repeat this step for the remainder of the installation and ensure lasting adhesion with the maximum insulation.
