Product Usage Instructions

  1. For MQ Triton fitment, it is important to always use both recovery points during recovery.
  2. Before starting the installation, it is recommended to read the fitting instructions in their entirety.
  3. Elevate the vehicle and support it on axle stands.
  4. Remove both front wheels.
  5. Remove the inner guard rubber skirt lower plastic clips using a flat blade screwdriver.
  6. Remove the bash plate.
  7. On the passenger side, remove the power steering/auto trans hose support bracket on the inside of the chassis rail.
  8. On the passenger side, remove the earth strap on top of the chassis rail.
  9. Tools required: General hand tools.
  10. Identify the following parts for installation:

  1. Follow the hardware fitting as shown in Figure 1 for the driver’s side and Figure 2 for the passenger’s side.
  2. For driver’s side fitment, slip the required strap around the chassis rail from the inside, making sure to push the lower radiator hose out of the way.
  3. For passenger’s side fitment, slip the required strap around the chassis rail from the inside, making sure to push the power steering lines out of the way.
  4. Slide the wire nut into the appropriate hole (rearward slotted hole in the chassis rail).
  5. Place the recovery point in location, using the slot on the recovery point to hold the wire nut in position.
  6. Both sides utilize the stepped spacer; this item should be fitted to the inner face of the recovery point.

DURING RECOVERY ALWAYS USE BOTH RECOVERY POINTS

For ease of fitting we recommend:

  1. Read the fitting instructions in their entirety

  2. Elevate the vehicle and support on axle stands

  3. Remove both front wheels

  4. Remove the inner guard rubber skirt lower plastic clips (flat blade screwdriver)

  5. Remove the bash plate

  6. On the Passenger side remove the power steering
    / Auto trans hose support bracket on the inside of the chassis rail

  7. On the Passenger side remove the earth strap on top of the chassis rail

Tools required:

General hand tools

To begin installation, identify the following parts:

Different frontal protection devices require different packer combinations – the use of these will to be the fitter’s discretion. The key considerations are to keep the main recovery bracket as close to the chassis rail as possible and parallel with the chassis rail.

  1. Slip the required strap around the chassis rail from the inside.
    • On the driver side the lower radiator hose will need to be pushed out of the way.
    • On the passengers the power steering lines will need to be pushed out of the way.
  2. Slide wire nut into appropriate hole (rear ward slotted hole in the chassis rail).
  3. Place recovery point in location.
    • Tip: The slot on the recovery point is to allow the wire nut to be held in position.
    • Both sides utilize the stepped spacer; this item is fitted to the inner face of the OE tie down point on the chassis rail as shown in Figure 3.
    • Use the extra washers and spacers provided in addition to what is shown in Figure 1 and 2 to correctly space the recovery point to suit any additional bracketry on the chassis due to bull bar, nudge bar etc.

REFIT

  1. On the Passenger side, re-attach the earth strap on top of the chassis rail.

  2. On the Passenger side, re-attach the power steering / Auto trans hose support bracket on the inside of the
    chassis rail.

  3. Replace the bash plate.

  4. Reconnect the inner guard rubber skirt lower plastic clips (flat blade screwdriver).

  5. Replace both front wheels.

  6. Lower the vehicle.

  7. Tighten all wheel nuts on both front wheels to manufactures specification

  1. Slip the required strap around the chassis rail from the inside.
    • On the driver side the lower radiator hose will need to be pushed out of the way.
    • On the passengers the power steering lines will need to be pushed out of the way.
  2. Slide wire nut into appropriate hole (rear ward slotted hole in the chassis rail).
  3. Using a suitable cutting tool, cut a slot in the right-hand side wing support bracket to allow clearance for the recovery point bracket. See figure 4.
  4. Cut the Left-hand side wing plate mounting bracket off level with the vertical face. Trim the wing panel in line with the mounting hole. See figure 5.ROADSAFE-RPTRI-03-Recovery-Tow-Points-fig-18
  5. Place recovery point in location.
    • Tip: The slot on the recovery point is to allow the wire nut to be held in position.
    • The right-hand side utilizes the stepped spacer; this item is fitted to the inner face of the OE tie down point on the chassis rail as shown in Figure 3.
    • The Left-hand side utilizes the tapered spacer on the outside of the factory tow point.
    • Use the extra washers and spacers provided in addition to what is shown in Figure 1 and 2 to correctly space the recovery point to suit any additional bracketry on the chassis due to bull bar, nudge bar etc.
  6. Fit the Wing panel bracket supplied in the kit and mark the nut location  on the wing panel. Drill the wing panel to suit an M8 bolt. Reuse the ARB bolt to fasten the wing panel to the new bracket. See figure 6.

REFIT

  1. On the Passenger side, re-attach the earth strap on top of the chassis rail.
  2. On the Passenger side, re-attach the power steering / Auto trans hose support bracket on the inside of the chassis rail.
  3. Replace the bash plate.
  4. Reconnect the inner guard rubber skirt lower plastic clips (flat blade screwdriver).
  5. Replace both front wheels.
  6. Lower the vehicle..
