  • Camber Gauge (A)
  • King Pin Inclination Gauge (C)

Product Information
The Camber, Caster, and King Pin Inclination Gauge is a robust magnetic gauge designed for quick and accurate measurements of camber, caster, and king pin inclination. It is suitable for vehicles equipped with steel wheels and works best when used inconjunction with steering turntables, rear wheel level plates, and wheel clamps (ASWG001). The gauge comes in a durable composite plastic carry case for easy storage and protection.

Safety Instructions

  1. Maintain the gauge in good condition.
  2. Replace or repair any damaged parts.

  4. Do not allow untrained persons to operate the gauge.
  5. When setting front-end alignment on commercial vehicles, never adjust drop arms or interconnecting links to avoid serious tire, wheel, and steering problems.
  6. Any alignment changes necessary after using the equipment must] strictly adhere to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.
  7. Exercise common sense and caution while operating the gauge as it cannot cover all possible conditions and situations. Apply caution and make judgments accordingly.

Measuring Camber Angle

  1. Drive vehicle forwards to centralize wheels.
  2. Fit the gauge in the center of the vehicle’s wheel/hub/wheel clamp (ASWG001).
  3. Set the Lever Gauge (D) bubble to the center and note the bubble position of the Camber Gauge (A).
  4. Refer to the vehicle owner’s handbook before making any adjustments.
  5. Note that adjustments to the caster or camber angles may affecteach other, so re-check all measurements after any adjustments are made.
  6. Try to simulate normal running conditions during measurements, such as having a driver in the front driver’s seat or a half tank of gas.

MEASURING CASTER ANGLE
Alignment Turntables (ASWG008) are recommended for this measurement to accurately turn your wheels to 20° in or out.

  • Drive the vehicle forward so that the front wheels are positioned on alignment turntables (ASWG008) in the straight-ahead position, with the rear wheels on level plates (or additional turntables).
  • Turn the front wheel to 20° OUT.
  • Fit the gauge in the center of the wheel/hub/wheel clamp (ASWG001) and set the Lever Gauge (D) bubble to the center.
  • Set the Castor Gauge (B) bubble to 0 by adjusting the thumb-turn screw underneath. Then, turn the front wheel to 20° IN.
  • Set the Lever Gauge (D) bubble to the center again and read the bubble in the Castor Gauge (B) for the caster angle.
  • Refer to the vehicle owner’s handbook before making any adjustments.
  • Note that adjustments to the caster or camber angles may affect each other, so re-check all measurements after any adjustments are made.

MEASURING KING PIN INCLINATION

  1. Drive the vehicle forward so that the front wheels are positioned on alignment turntables (ASWG008) in the straight-ahead position, with the rear wheels on level plates (or additional turntables).
  2. Turn the front wheel to 20° OUT.
  3. Fit the gauge in the center of the wheel/hub/wheel clamp (ASWG001) and set the Lever Gauge (D) bubble to the center.
  4. Set the King Pin Inclination Gauge (C) bubble to 0 by adjusting the thumb-turn screw underneath. Then, turn the front wheel to 20° IN.
  5. Read the bubble in the King Pin Inclination Gauge (C) for the degree of king pin inclination.
  6. Refer to the vehicle owner’s handbook before making any adjustments.
