TPP 99500 Vacuum Filtration
Instructions for Use TPP
- The TPP filtration system «rapid»-Filtermax is suitable for sterile filtration of cell culture media, sera and aqueous solution.
- The 0.22 µm polyether sulfone (PES) membrane ensures high flow rates with low protein binding and foam formation. The «rapid»-Filtermax is available as a filtration unit (filter top incl. reservoir flask) as well as a separate filter top or flask, with a DIN GL45 thread.
- The filtration system is available in volume sizes 150, 250, 500 and 1000 ml. The individual system components are all identical in construction, available separately and can be combined with each other.
- The unique square foot of the reservoir ensures a safe stand during sterile filtration.
- The «rapid»-Filtermax is intended for single use only.
Note:
Follow national regulations when handling biological material, use appropriate protective clothing
Take note of the regulations of aseptic working during the work process.
Instructions
- Check the packaging material and the product for intactness. Use only faultless material.
- Check the expiry date (EXP) on label and packaging. Only use products with valid EXP.
- Open the packaging in a sterile environment and remove a complete system for use. Only open the packaging of the screw cap before use.
- Check the filtration system to ensure that the top filter is still firmly connected to the reservoir. Tighten it again if necessary. Take care not to overtighten the thread.
- (Use of TPP filter top only: screw it tightly onto a sterile bottle, taking care not to damage the thread.)
- Attach the hose of the regulated vacuum source to the hose adapter. This is plugged into the connection of the top filter.
- Install the filtration system and secure it to prevent it from tipping over during the process.
- Remove the lid of the filter top and carefully fill in the solution to be filtered.
- Apply vacuum and filter until the filter top is empty or the reservoir bottle is full.
- After filtration, switch off the vacuum, place the lid on the filter top and remove the hose.
- Unscrew the filter top, unpack the individually packed sterile screw cap and close the bottle with it.
- Test the multitude of influencing factors under routine conditions beforehand.
- Storage before use at room temperature, protect from UV light.
Advice and Recommendations
- The graduation serves as a reference point for the filling quantity and is not an absolute value.
- Alcohol 90 % with mechanical stress (rubbing) can dissolve or blur the white colour of the lettering.
Information
- The user should provide following materials: Vacuum source; vacuum tubing; ev. pre- filters made of fibreglass for heavy-particle solutions to be pre-filtered.
- If a solution contains heavy particles to be filtered, it perform a pre-filtering using a fiberglass system.
- Solutions with a low particle density and a high filtration throughput can be attached to another reservoir for additional filtration. Please observe the rules of aseptic work.
- When filtering very dilute solutions, binding studies should be performed beforehand.
- Once the pouch is open, keep the product in a sterile area to ensure sterility.
- The flask is not suitable for freezing use.
- Do not autoclave product.
- Do not use the Filtermax in direct patient care applications or diagnostic procedures; it is intended for general laboratory use only.
To avoid possible injury due to implosions
- Do not exceed 700 mm Hg differential vacuum at 25 °C
- Filter top: Only use sterile plastic or glass bottles that are approved for sterile filtration under vacuum. These should be free of any damage (danger of implosion). Pay attention to the max. total pressure.
- Wear eye-protection and perform the filtration in special safety units.
- Do not use hand-held vessels while filtering under vacuum.
