HYDCAL Calcium Hydroxide Cement
DESCRIPTION
Hydcal is a self-curing calcium hydroxide cement for pulp capping and
protective lining under restorative materials and cements. The setting
reaction occurs by mixing the base and catalyst pastes at the time of use.
Hydcal’s formulation is highly resistant to dissolution
by the phosphoric acid used to acid etch dental structures.
PRESENTATION
- tube of Hydcal base paste (13 g), 1 tube of Hydcal catalyst paste (11 g) and 1 spatulation block.
INDICATION OF USE
Hydcal is indicated for cavity lining and pulp protection in restorative
procedures.
COMPOSITION
Hydcal Base: Iron oxide, fillers, solvents, stabilizers, radiopacifiers and
modulators. Hydcal Catalyst: Fillers, calcium hydroxide, solvents,
stabilizers, radiopacifiers and iron oxide.
MODE OF USE
- Place the base and catalyst pastes in a spatulation block in a 1:1 mass ratio.
- Use a spatula (or curette) to mix the two pastes until they are evenly colored.
- Homogenize for 10 seconds.
- Insert the mixed material into the cavity, which the seeing find shevation ot high temperatures and humidity the setting time is shorter.
- Remove excess with curettes and/or probes.
Timing
Condition | Time |
---|---|
Extrabuccal (23 °C) | 5 to 1O minutes |
lntrabuccal (37 °C) | 2 to 5 minutes |
- At high temperatures and humidity, the setting time becomes proportionally shorter.
WARNINGS
- Do not use the product after its expiration : Keep the material ocka gin in the reach of children.
- This material has been manufactured for dental use only and must be handled in accordance with the instructions for use. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by other uses or by incorrect handling not described in this manual. - Hydcal should not be swallowed ог aspirated. If swallowed or aspirated, seek medical attention immediately.
- Because it has an alkaline pH, Hydcal should only be used in situations where it can be adequately protected from the oral cavity.
- Hydcal cannot be used restorative or as a cement. as a temporary
- The ratio between the base and catalyst pastes is an essential factor for good clinical application, being the determining factor for hardening, hardness and physicochemical performance.
- Incorrect affect the prodictions can considerably radiographic images of the material.
- In conditions of inadequate temperature and humidity, the product may lose its performance, showing loss of consistency, inactivation of setting and leaks.
- Over long periods of storage, the product may form a small phase inside the tube in the base paste, this characteristic is common in products with chloride salts and does not lead to impaired physicochemical performance after homogenization.
PRECAUTIONS
- Wear gloves and goggles. recommended that patients also wear goggles
- Do not allow loose objects and parts to be swallowed or aspirated.
- Contact between uncured Hydcal and skin, mucous membranes and eyes should be avoided. When not yet hardened, the product can have a slightly irritating effect.
