DESCRIPTION Dual

Force is a dual-cure resin cement (photo-activa-ted and chemical), for professional use, suitable for adhesive cementation of intraradicular posts and restorations to the dental structure. The product consists of Base Paste + Catalyst Paste, which should be used in a 1:1 ratio. Dual Force is available in colors A1, A2, A3 and Transparent.

INDICATION
Dual Force is suitable for cementation of dental crowns and bridges made of full porcelain or metal-ceramic. Inlays, onlays, ceramic crowns and laboratory resin crowns. Root posts of glass fiber, carbon fiber, ceramic or metallic. Adhesive prostheses (Maryland bridges).

COMPOSITION
Base Paste – Methacrylate monomers, silanized microparticles of aluminosilicate barium glass, initiator, co-initiator, inorganic pigments and stabilizer. Catalyst Paste – Methacrylate monomers, silanized microparticles of aluminosilicate barium glass, benzoyl peroxide and stabilizer.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Tooth Preparation:

  1. Isolate the tooth and use a retraction system when the margin in subgingival to ensure that contamina-tion of the preparation does not occur.
  2. Properly clean the preparations with pumice and prophylaxis bowl, condition the enamel for 30 seconds and dentin for 15 seconds with 37% phosphoric acid (Acid Gel 37% Phosphoric, Maquira). Rinse with plenty of water for 10 seconds or until the acid is completely removed. Dry the preparation slightly with air leaving the tissue moist
  3. Apply the adhesive system according to the manufacturer’s instructions and proceed with photoactivation. Dual resin cements are incompatible with acid adhesives classified as single step self-etch adhesives, which due to their high acidity, compromise the chemical cure (self-curing) of resin cements.

Cementation of Total Porcelain, Metal-ceramic or Total Resin Crowns:

  1. The total porcelain or metal-ceramic part must be previously subjected to aluminum oxide jet treatment by the laboratory to generate surface microporosities on its internal surfaces and, in the case of total resin parts, the microporosities can be made with drills or jet of aluminum oxide. Condition the internal part of the porcelain part with hydrofluoric acid gel (5% Hydrofluoric Acid Gel or 10% Hydrofluoric Acid Gel, Maquira), according to the acid concentration and application time specified by the porcelain manufacturer. Rinse with plenty of water until the hydrofluoric acid is completely removed and then dry.

  2. Part silanization: Apply Silane (Silane, Maquira) on the internal face of the prosthetic part with the aid of a disposable micro applicator and wait 1 minute. Dry the surface with light air jets.

  3. Select the appropriate Dual Force color for part cementing. If using Dual Force in a single syringe, dispense the proper amount of Base Paste and Catalyst Paste on the mixing plate or block, in the proportion 1:1, and mix the pastes for 10 seconds with a spatula. In case of using Dual Force in a double body syringe, use the disposable self-mixing tip to provide and mix the pastes.

  4. Apply a thin layer of Dual Force to the inner side of the part or over the cavity, covering the entire surface.

  5. Position the part on the tooth carefully allowing the cement to drain slowly from all edges.

  6. Keep the part in position and start cleaning the excess cement after about 2 minutes from the beginning of the paste mixture. If the excess cement is removed immediately after positioning the part, the margins must be photoactivated to prevent the effect of the oxygen-inhibited layer. In the case of minimally retentive restorations, position the part and keep it fixed during the excess cement cleaning process.

  7. After removing excess cement, light cure each surface and margins for 40 seconds or allow the chemical curing to continue until 10 minutes of the paste mixture.
Note: For porcelain and composite resin parts, the margins can be light cured for 40 seconds to ensure immediate fixation of the part

  8. Polish for the final finishing. Note: After light curing the restorations and margins, remove the excess using a scalpel. The use of rotating instruments should be avoided before the cement has completely cured, which occurs within 10 minutes after mixing the pastes, depending on the temperature.

  9. Instruct the patient not to exert forces on the restoration until 20 minutes after fixing the part.

Cementation of intraradicular cores:

  1. Prepare the endodontically treated tooth to receive the post by dimensioning the canal and the post
  2. Condition the enamel for 30 seconds and dentin for 15 seconds with 37% phosphoric acid gel (37% Phosphoric Acid Gel, Maquira). Rinse with plenty of water, make sure all the acid has been removed. Dry the canal with the aid of a paper cone and dentin and coronal enamel with air jet, without drying out.
  3. Apply the adhesive with the aid of a disposable micro applicator by rubbing it in the root canal for 15 seconds, to cover the walls with a thin layer of adhesive. Make sure there is no adhesive deposition on the canal. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for evaporating the solvent with air and light curing time. Note: Dual Force is incompatible with single step self-etch adhesives as they compromise chemical cure. Three-step (Acid + Primer + Adhesive) or two-step (Acid + Primer/Bond or Acid/Primer + Bond) adhesives are indicated.
  4. Prepare the root post (Fiber Post, Maquira) by applying a layer of Silane (Silane, Maquira) and wait for 1 minute. Dry the surface with light air jets.
  5. In the case of using Dual Force in a single syringe, dispense the proper amount of Base Paste and Catalyst Paste on the mixing plate or block, in a 1:1 ratio, and mix the pastes for 10 seconds with a spatula. In case of using Dual Force in a double body syringe, use the disposable self-mixing tip to provide and mix the pastes. Apply a thin layer of cement along the post, or even inside the root canal prepared with the aid of suitable instruments.
  6. Position the post in the root canal. Start the cleaning process approximately 2-3 minutes after mixing the cement. Light cure for 40 seconds on the occlusal surface to fix the post in the desired position. The use of translucent posts facilitates the passage of light into the canal and curing the cement along the post. However, the Dual Force chemical cure guarantees the fixation of opaque posts.
  7. Reconstruct the coronary part of the tooth. NOTE: To accelerate the curing process of the product, light cure Dual Force for at least 40 seconds with halogen or LED light equipment with power density equal to or greater than 400 mW/cm2 and blue light emission spectrum (400-500 nm).

WARNINGS
Product for professional use only. Do not use material containing eugenol as a base to prevent insufficient surface curing. Do not use this product with temporary cements containing eugenol, as this inhibits polymerization reaction. Wear protective goggles when using a light-curing unit. Dual Force is incompatible with acid adhesives classified as single-step self-etch adhesives. The high acidity of these adhesives compromises the chemical cure of resin cements. To avoid cross infection, do not reuse applicator tips. Self-mixing tips should be discarded after use. Do not store the product close to materials containing Eugenol, as they may inhibit the proper polymerization of the adhesive. Do not use the product after its expiration date. Keep out of reach of children.

PRECAUTIONS

The product may cause some level of irritation if in contact with the dental pulp and/or very close to it. Protect the pulp with a lining material or cavity base if the cavity has pulp exposure. Dual Force contains polymerizable monomers that can cause skin sensitization (allergic contact dermatitis) in susceptible individuals. After contact, immediately wash the area with soap and water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. Dual Force contains methacrylates which can be irritating to the eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with large amounts of water and seek medical assistance. In case of allergic reactions, discontinue the use immediately. Check correct syringe closure after use.

CONTRAINDICATION
Do not use in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the product.
