Before first use
Charge the dynamo radio built-in battery fully, using the included Micro-USB
charging cable, before first use.
Use
Charging
The built-in power bank can be charged using the included Micro-USB charging
cable.
Connect the included Micro-USB cable between the Micro-USB charging port and a
USB power adapter (sold separately). The radio and flashlight can also be
charged using the solar panel (16) on the top of the radio or using the dynamo
crank (13). Wind the crank continuously for 3–5 minutes if the radio hasn’t
been pre-charged or has been used for long periods of time. To charge using
the solar panel, place the radio in direct sunlight.
The charging indicator (3) lights up when the built-in battery is charging.
The charging time varies greatly between the different methods.
Note! You can not use the dynamo or solar panel charging to charge a
smart device via the USB-A port (12). They only work for the radio and
flashlight functions. Consider the solar panel and crank charging methods as a
means of charging intended only for emergency situations.
Radio on/off, change station and adjust volume
Slide the Function switch (15) on the top of the dynamo radio to the option
marked “Radio” ( ), and turn the Volume wheel (7) clockwise until you hear a
click to turn the radio on. The radio indicator (4) lights up. Adjust the
volume by turning the volume wheel.
Select the “FM” option using the band selector (6). Adjust the FM band using
the tuning wheel (9) on the side of the dynamo radio until you reach the
desired frequency. You can see which frequency is currently dialed in the
radio frequency display (5). Extend the antenna (2) to further increase the
reception.
Turn the volume wheel (7) counterclockwise all the way down until you hear a
click to turn the radio off, the radio indicator (4) turns off.
Note! The radio is in standby mode (and saving battery life) if the
function switch (15) is set to “Radio” ( ), and the volume wheel (7) is turned
all the way down, past the clicking sound. Make sure the radio indicator (4)
is off before storing the radio.
USB ports and charging
The USB-A port (12) on the side of the dynamo radio can be used to charge
another USB device using the built-in powerbank. The built-in powerbank
capacity is 1200 mAh, which is equivalent to about half charge on a modern
smartphone.
Connect a charging cable (sold separately) between the USB device you want to
charge and the USB-A port. Slide the function switch (15) to the charging icon
( **), the charging starts automatically. Slide the function switch to the
Radio function ( ) to turn the powerbank charger off.
Note! The Micro-USB port is only used to charge the built-in powerbank,
the radio and flashlight functions. It cannot be used to charge other USB
devices.
LED flashlight
Slide the function switch (15) to the flashlight symbol ( ) to turn it on.
Slide the switch to the Radio function ( ) to turn the flashlight off.
Headphone jack
The dynamo radio is equipped with a 3.5 mm headphone jack (11). Connect your
headphones to the jack. The dynamo radio speaker (1) is automatically disabled
and the audio plays in the connected headphones instead. Change the volume
using the volume wheel (7).
Disconnect the headphones to enable the speaker again.
SOS siren
To activate the built-in siren, slide the function switch (15) to the SOS
symbol ( **). The speaker (1) emits a loud siren and the flashlight starts
flashing. To turn the siren off, slide the switch to any of the other
functions to turn the siren off.
AAA battery power
If the rechargeable Li-ion battery fails and if you have no other means of
powering the dynamo radio, you can insert 3x AAA batteries into the battery
compartment (14) on the bottom of the dynamo radio. Mind the polarity.
Note! The dynamo radio cannot charge rechargeable batteries inserted into
the battery compartment.
Safety information
The device contains a rechargeable Li-on battery and the battery can not be
replaced.
The device must not be exposed to dripping or splashing liquids. Do not expose
the device to an open flame.
To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen to high volume levels using
head- phones for long periods.
