NOTE: Large single door refrigeration products by their nature and design utilise a single door containing a large magnetic door seal. These large door products can present more resistance to opening, especially in hotter and more humid conditions. This is normal and not a fault.
Due to the vacuum effect created when the freezer door is closed; do not try to re-open immediately, please wait for a short period of time before trying to open the door.
Noises – modern energy saving, more environmentally friendly refrigeration appliances generate many and varied noises when working. This is normal.

Storing frozen food

Pre-packed commercially frozen food should

be stored in accordance with the frozen food

manufacturer’s instructions for a

frozen

food storage compartment. If possible try to leave air

circulation channels through stored food.

If there is a power failure do not open the freezer door. Frozen food should not be affected if the failure lasts for less than 13 hours. If the failure is longer, then the food should be checked and either eaten immediately or cooked then re-frozen.

The freezer packs will help maintain the cold temperature in the freezer.

If the freezer packs are damaged they should be safely disposed of. (The liquid is not suitable for drinking.)

DO NOT lift and carry drawer by the drawer front Use side handles to carry.

Loading the freezer
· Allow air to circulate efficiently, do not pack food too closely together in the freezer sections.
· Avoid spillage of food particularly small items like rice, peas, beans etc. through the fan guard as they may cause the cooling system to block and therefore operate less efficiently.
The normal storage temperature of the freezer should be Min. -18°C (0°F) or food will decay and be wasted.
We recommend that you check the temperature with an accurate thermometer to ensure that the storage compartments are kept to the recommended temperature.

The most efficient use of energy is obtained with the shelves and baskets in their default positions, allowing air to circulate throughout the food
We recommend that food is always covered and not to store open containers or foodstuffs. Please remember; each time the door is opened cold air escapes and the internal temperature rises.
Therefore never leave the door open and always close it immediately after food is put in or removed.
Due to the vacuum effect created when the freezer door is closed; do not try to re-open immediately, please wait for a short period of time before trying to open the door.

Freezing fresh food

Please observe the following instructions to obtain the best results.

Do not exceed the freezing capacity of the appliance in any 24 hour period of 10 kg (22 lb).

Do not place warm food into the freezer.

If freezing large quantities of fresh food activate ‘Quick Freeze’, 1-2 hours before loading the food.

You may place fresh food to be frozen in any part of the freezer.

Quick freeze

10

www.howdens.com

Food storage and energy efficiency
The most efficient use of energy is ensured in the configuration of the drawers and shelves in their default positions, with foodstuffs evenly distributed throughout.
· Well ventilated, lower ambient temperatures are ideal conditions for energy saving. In very low ambient temperatures (Never less than 5°C) the internal temperatures should be checked with a thermometer and the temperature adjusted as necessary.

· Ensure the time between buying chilled/frozen food and placing them in the appliance is kept to a minimum, particularly in summer. We recommend you use a cool bag to carry frozen food.
· Do not leave the door(s) of the appliance open longer than is necessary and ensure they are closed properly after each opening.
· Most energy efficient use is with baskets and drawers in their default positions.

Food storage advice and recommendations to avoid waste food and energy

Do – Clean the freezer regularly, see cleaning and care.
Do – Check the contents of the freezer.
Do – Keep food for as short a time as possible and adhere to Best Before’, Use By’, dates.
Do – Store commercially frozen food in accordance with the instructions given on the packets.

Don’t – Put hot food into the appliance. Let it cool down first.
Don’t – Store liquid filled bottles or sealed cans containing carbonated liquids into the freezer as they will burst.
Don’t – Exceed the maximum freezing loads when freezing fresh food.
Don’t – Give children ice-cream and water ices direct from the freezer. The low temperatures may cause `freezer burns’ on lips.
