The Built In Coffee Machine LAM9100 is a state-of-the-art coffee maker that brings the latest in coffee making technology to your kitchen. Before Using for the First Time

Switching On
- Press the power button to switch on the coffee machine.
- Follow the instructions on the control panel to set the language.
- Set the clock by following the instructions provided.
Making an Espresso Using Ground Coffee
- Choose the desired taste of your espresso.
- Follow the instructions on the control panel to set the clock.
- Once you have brewed your espresso, turn off the appliance.
Preparing Hot Water
- Use the hot water nozzle to prepare hot water.
- Adjust the quantity of hot water according to your preference.
Care and Maintenance – Descaling
- Regularly carry out the descaling program to maintain the performance of your coffee machine.

Correct application
Safety for children and vulnerable people
· This appliance is intended for domestic use
only (3000 cups per year). Any other use will be considered improper and will
void the guarantee.
It is not intended for use in:
Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments.
Working farms.
By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments.
Bed and breakfast type environments.
· This coffee machine is not intended for outdoor or
commercial use.
· It must be used only as a domestic appliance. The
manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage resulting from incorrect or
improper use or operation.
· The appliance may be used by people with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge,
if they are supervised whilst using it or have been shown how to use it safely
and recognise and understand the consequences of incorrect operation.
· This appliance can be installed over a built-in oven
if the latter is fitted with a cooling fan at the rear (maximum microwave
power: 3kW).
· Children under 3 years of age must be kept away from
the appliance unless they are constantly supervised.
· Children 8 years and older may only use the
appliance unsupervised if they have been shown how to use it safely and
recognise and understand consequences of incorrect operation.
· Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be
made by children unless they are 8 years old and supervised.
· Please supervise children in the vicinity of the
appliance and do not let them play with it.

Do not install or use if damaged.
· Before connecting the machine, ensure that the
information on the data plate (fuse rating, voltage and frequency) match the
mains electricity supply. If in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
· Reliable and safe operation of this appliance can
only be assured if it has been connected to the mains electricity supply.

The electrical safety of this appliance can only be guaranteed when correctly
earthed. Connect the appliance to an efficiently earthed socket with minimum
current rating of 10A. It is essential that this standard safety requirement
is met. If in any doubt, please have the wiring system of the building tested
by a qualified electrician.
LAMONA cannotbeheldliablefortheconsequences of an inadequate earthing system
(e.g. electric shock).
Do not connect the coffee machine to the mains electricity supply through…
· a multi-socket adapter, · an extension lead or similar; · a timing device.
These do not guarantee the required safety of the machine.
The electrical socket must be easily accessible after installation so that the
machine can be disconnected from the electricity supply if necessary.
The power cable on this appliance must not be replaced by the user as this
operation requires special tools and could cause injury.
If the cable is damaged or requires replacing, contact the LAMONA service
line.
Do not hang, lean or place heavy items on the appliance when it is extended
out from the cabinet.
Never immerse the appliance in water.

Correct use
· Do not install this appliance in a room where
the temperature might reach 0°C or lower. The appliance may be damaged if the
water freezes.
· You should personalise water hardness as
soon as possible following the instructions on page 12.
· Always power off and remove the plug before
cleaning the this appliance.
· Never pull the power cable as you could damage it.
· Do not put objects containing liquids, inflammable
or corrosive materials on the machine.
Cautions when using the coffee machine.
This appliance is designed to make espresso coffee and heated drinks. Care
must be taken when using the appliance. If used incorrectly injury could occur
through scalding from hot water and jets of steam. This coffee machine and its
accessible parts become hot during use.
Never touch the appliance or plug with wet or damp hands.
Never fill with ground coffee, frozen or caramelised coffee beans or anything
else that could damage the appliance. This will cause the machine to
malfunction.
i The parts which could come into contact with coffee or milk conform to the
provisions of the EEC directive 1935/2004 relating to materials suitable for
contact with foodstuffs.
If there is a problem you cannot solve by reading these instructions; switch
off and unplug the machine and call the LAMONA Service Line.
Preventative maintenance
Rep airs should only b e undertaken by a LAMONA Service Engineer, otherwise
any subsequent damage will not be covered by the warranty.
LAMONA cannot be held responsible for any incorrect installation of the
appliance. The Installation manual must be followed.
Your coffee machine requires preventative maintenance. To guarantee that the
coffee machine works well and reliably. We recommend having the machine
serviced once every 2 to 3 years (after a maximum of 8000 cups).
LAMONA cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these
warning and safety instructions.

Before using for the first time
Please read this booklet thoroughly before using the machine.
i Coffee has been used in the factory to test this appliance. It is therefore
completely normal that there
are traces of coffee in the mill. This appliance is however guaranteed to be
new.
It is recommended that the water hardness is set as soon as possible. See page
12.
Switching on
Check the appliance is connected to the electrical supply.
i The first time you switch on the appliance using the main power switch and
every time that it is plugged in; the
machine executes a self diagnostic action for a few seconds, then switches
off. See page 15 for switching off.
1 With the appliance conntected to the elecrtical supply,
Switch on using the main power switch.
2 Start the appliance with the On / Standby button.

Preparation
· Note: Coffee has been used to factory test the appliance and it is therefore
completely normal for there to be
traces of coffee in the mill.
· Please check that the water hardness has been been set. See page 12.
Filling the water tank
1 Extract the water tank and rinse. 2 Fill with fresh water.
3 Replace the water tank and push in
as far as possible. Do not force.
Inserting the water spout
1 If not inserted the display shows
DO NOT exceed the MAX line.
Only fill the water tank with cold water. Never use other liquids such as
mineral water or milk.
2 Place a cup under the hot water spout.

1 Remove any cups/mugs. Extract the appliance by pulling it out using the handles.

Setting the water hardness level
Before using the coffee machine, please customise the water hardness.
1 Remove the “Total Hardness Test” strip (in the front of your manual).
2 Dip it fully in water for a few seconds, then remove it and wait 30 seconds
until it changes colour and a
number of red dots appear. The number of dots indicates the hardness level to
set.
3 Press then use

“PLEASE DESCALE” is displayed after the appliance has been operated for a factory set period of time calculated on the basis of the maximum quantity of lime scale which may be contained in the water used.

When using the coffee machine for the first time, you will need to make 4-5 cups of coffee and 4-5 cappuccinos before the appliance gives satisfactory results.

Activating and de-activating the control panel buzzer
This activates or deactivates the buzzer emitted by the machine each time a touch key is pressed or an accessory is inserted or removed. Note: The buzzer is active by default.

Making coffee using coffee beans
Choosing the desired taste
· The appliance is pre-set to make coffee with a normal taste. · You can also
choose coffee with an extra-mild, mild, normal, strong or extra-strong taste.
· There is also a pre-ground coffee option.
1 Press multiple times if necessary to choose desired coffee strength.
Normal is the default.
2 Place 1 or 2 cups under the spout to make 1 or 2 coffees.
3 Lower the spouts as near as possible to the cup
for a creamier coffee using the grips on either side.
Place 2 cups under the spout to make two coffees.
4 Press
multiple times if necessary to choose the type of coffee.
5 Press
Press
for 1 cup of coffee or… for 2 cups of coffee
6 The appliance now grinds the beans and starts delivering the coffee into the cup(s).
· Once the set amount of coffee has been delivered, the machine stops delivery
automatically and expels the exhausted waste coffee into the waste container.
· After a few seconds, the appliance is ready for use again.
Never remove the water tank when the appliance is dispensing coffee.
If 2 – 3 minutes have passed since you last made coffee, you should rinse the
system to preheat the brewing unit. See page 15: Tips to make hotter coffee –
Rinsing.

· If the coffee only comes out in drips or not at all, turn the grind level
knob one
position clockwise. See page 17: Setting the grind level.
· If the coffee comes out too fast and the crema does not meet your taste,
turn
the knob by one position anti-clockwise. See page 17, “Setting the grind
level”.
Make sure that you do not turn the knob for setting the grind level too far,
as coffee may come out in drips when dispensing 2 cups.
Stopping / increasing the dispensing of coffee
· You can stop the coffee from dispensing by pressing or touch keys again.
The coffee has finished dispensing when the progress bar reaches 100%.
· Increase the amount of coffee by pressing and holding

until the desired amount of coffee is reached.
Turning the appliance off
1 Pressing the On/Standby button will switch the appliance off.

Tips to make hotter coffee – Rinsing
If 2-3 minutes have past since you last made coffee; pre-heat the brewing unit using
the “Rinsing” function.

2 Run off the water into the underlying drip tray or alternatively use this
water
to fill (and then empty) the cup to be used for the coffee.
Do not use cups that are too thick, as they will absorb too much heat.
Fill tank message
When the display shows the message
you must fill the water tank.
It is normal that there is some water left in the water tank when the message
is displayed. See page 10: Filling the water tank.
Never remove the water tank when the appliance is dispensing coffee, the
appliance will not be able to make the coffee.

Empty waste coffee container message
· Every 14 single coffees (or 7 doubles) the appliance displays “EMPTY WASTE
COFFE
This means that the waste coffee container is full and must be emptied and
cleaned.
· The appliance counts the number of coffees made. As long as the waste coffee
container is not cleaned, this
message remains in place and the coffee machine cannot make any coffee.
1 To empty; open the service door at the front by
pulling the coffee spout, using the grips.
2 Extract and empty the drip tray (A).
3 Empty the waste
coffee container.
Remove completely
A
Always completely extract the drip tray to avoid it falling when removing the
waste coffee container. Empty the container and clean it thoroughly, making
sure all residues deposited on the bottom are removed.
Every time you pull the drip tray out, the waste coffee container must also
emptied, even if it is not completely full. If this process is not carried
out, the waste coffee container may overfill when coffee is made and the
machine may get blocked.
If the appliance malfunctions, do not contact the Service Line straight away.
First, look at the troubleshooting section. If this does not help, contact the
LAMONA Service Line.
Changing the quantity of coffee
i The appliance is factory pre-set to automatically deliver the following quantities of coffee.
To change these quantities, proceed as follows

3 A bar on the display, which can be made bigger or smaller represents the cup filling quantity.
. A full bar indicates the maximum cup filling quantity of 220ml is selected.

4 Press to store the updated setting.
· If you don’t press `OK’ the appliance automatically returns to the coffee mode after 120 seconds without saving.
· After programming, the display automatically jumps back to the menu option for setting the filling quantity.
· To go back to the coffee mode immediately, press
automatically returns to the coffee mode.

Setting the grind level
If coffee is dispensed too quickly or too slowly (in drips), you can change
the grind level. Pointer

Only change the grind level during the milling process, otherwise the coffee
machine may be damaged.
A Turn anti-clockwise to obtain finer ground coffee, slower delivery and a
denser crema. B Turn clockwise for coarser ground coffee, faster delivery and
a less dense crema.
The adjustment will be evident after at least 2 cups of coffee have been made.

Making an espresso using ground coffee
Choosing the desired taste
1 Press multiple times until
“PRE-GROUND” is displayed.
2 Extract the machine by pulling it outwards using the handles. 3 Lift the central lid. Place one measure of pre-ground coffee in the funnel.
Only use the measure provided.
Never add more than 1 measure as the appliance will not make coffee.
4 Push the appliance back and proceed as described in the section
on page 14: Making coffee using coffee beans.
5 Press – You can only make one cup at a time. 6 After using the machine with
pre-ground coffee; to go back to making coffee
using beans, deactivate the pre-ground coffee function by pressing
WARNING: Never introduce pre-ground coffee when the machine is switched off,
as the coffee could spread through the inside of the appliance.
Introduce only pre-ground coffee for espresso coffee machines into the funnel.
If more than one measure of pe-ground coffee is used and the funnel clogs;
push the coffee down with a knife, then remove and clean the brewing unit and
machine as described on page 29: Cleaning the brewing unit.
Turning the appliance off
Press
to switch off the appliance.
· Before switching off, the machine performs an automatic rinse cycle. · NOTE:
The appliance is set by default to go off automatically, 30 minutes after the
last coffee has been made.
To change this interval see page 24: Shut-off time.
Take care to avoid scalds

Preparing hot water
WARNING: Escaping hot water can lead to scalds! Only activate the hot water nozzle when there is a receptacle underneath it.
Hot water can be used to warm up cups and to make hot drinks such as tea or packet soups.

Changing the quantity of hot water
The machine delivers 150ml of hot water by default. To change this quantity
follow this procedure.
1 Place a container underneath the water spout.
2 Press to enter the menu.

Making a cappuccino
Choosing the desired taste
The machine is set by default to automatically deliver a standard cappuccino.
Press to select the taste of the coffee you want to use to make the
cappuccino.
Filling the milk container
· Extra-mild taste. · Mild taste. · Normal taste. · Extra-strong taste. · Pre- ground.
1 Remove the lid of the
milk container.
2 Fill the container with about
100 grams of milk for each
cappuccino to be prepared.
3 Ensure the intake tube is correctly
inserted into the rubber washer.
Then replace the milk container lid.

You should ideally use skimmed or semi skimmed milk at refrigerated
temperature of about 5 °C. Never exceed the MAX level of 750 ml, marked on the
container (A).
Setting the position of the frothed milk regulator
1 Position the frothed milk regulator between the words
CAPPUCCINO and CAFFELATTE printed on the milk container lid.
2 Adjust the quantity of froth by moving the regulator:
Denser froth: Towards CAFFELATTE
Less dense froth: Towards CAPPUCCINO

Remove the hot water spout.
Make the cappuccino
Attach the milk container to the nozzle.
Position the milk spout and then place a sufficiently large cup under the coffee & milk spouts.

and if desired, sprinkle the froth with a little cocoa powder. While making
cappuccino, the flow of frothed milk or coffee can be interrupted by pressing
If the milk in the container finishes while delivering frothed milk, remove
the container and add milk. Then re-attach it and press to request cappuccino
again.
Clean the milk container nozzles:
To ensure the complete cleanliness and hygiene of the milk frother, always
clean the circuits in the milk container lid after making cappuccino.

start the cleaning function.

Do not release the button until progress bar is complete. When the button is released, the function stops.
After cleaning, remove the milk container and place in a refrigerator. The milk should not be left out of the
refrigerator, for more than 15 minutes. To change the quantity of coffee or frothed milk the appliance delivers
automatically into the cup. See page 22.

Changing the quantity of milk for cappuccino
The appliance is set by default to automatically deliver a standard cappuccino. To change the quantity of milk, proceed as follows.
1 Fill the container with milk, up to the maximum level indicated on the container.
2 Press t to enter the menu.

TEMPERATURE
This menu option allows you to select a coffee temperature from 3 pre-set

Accessing statistics
This appliance collects statistics on the following:
· The total number of coffees made with the appliance up to that point. · The

Note: 2 cups of coffee dispensed at the same time are counted as 2 cups. To

Care and maintenance – Cleaning
Disconnect the appliance from the mains supply
Before doing any cleaning, you MUST switch the appliance off and disconnect
from electrical power.
· Never immerse the coffee machine in water. · Do not use solvents or abrasive
detergents to clean the coffee maker. · Never wash any of the components of
the coffee machine in a dishwasher.

Cleaning the drip tray
IMPORTANT: If the drip tray is not emptied, the water might overflow. This could damage the machine. The drip tray is fitted with a level indicator. This shows the level of water contained within the tray.

Cleaning the water tank
7 Replace the drip tray and close the service door.
· Clean the water tank regularly (about once a month) with a damp cloth and a
little mild
washing up liquid.
· Rise, removing all traces of washing up liquid and dry.
Cleaning the nozzles and spouts
Milk residues left on the nozzle (A) and in the container may
jeopardise correct operation of the appliance. Each time you
use the coffee maker, they must therefore be removed by cleaning
the nozzle with a sponge.

· Clean the nozzles periodically using a sponge.
· Check regularly that the holes in the coffee spout are not blocked.
If necessary, remove coffee deposits with a toothpick.
Cleaning the pre-ground coffee funnel
Check regularly (about once a month) that the pre-ground coffee funnel is not blocked. If blocked push the coffee down with a knife (see page 18), then remove and clean the brewing unit and machine as described on page 29.

Cleaning the inside of the coffee machine
· Check regularly (about once a week) that the inside of the appliance is not
dirty. If necessary, remove coffee deposits with a sponge.
· Remove the residues with a vacuum cleaner.
Cleaning the brewing unit
The brewing unit must be cleaned regularly to avoid the build-up of coffee
encrustations which could cause malfunction.
The brewing unit can only be taken out when the appliance is switched off by
pressing the on/stand by button. Otherwise, the coffee machine may be
seriously damaged. Never clean the brewing unit in the dishwasher. Do not use
washing up liquid to clean the brewing unit. This will remove the lubricant
applied to the inside of the piston.
1 Turn off, using the on/stand-by button only. Wait for the display to turn
off.
2 Pull open the service door.
3 Remove the drip tray and the
waste coffee container.
4 Press the two red release
buttons inwards and at the same time pull the brewing unit outwards.
5 Clean the brewing unit under running tap water only.
Do not use detergent.

6 Soak the brewing unit in water for about 5 minutes, then rinse
and dry.
7 Replace the brewing unit by sliding it onto the internal support (A) and pin
at
the bottom, then push the PUSH symbol (B) fully in until it clicks into place.

If the brewing unit is difficult to insert, you must first adapt it to the
right dimensions by pressing it forcefully from the bottom and top.
8 Once inserted, make sure the two red buttons have
snapped back out, otherwise the service door cannot be closed.
Check that the two red buttons have snapped back out. If they have not snapped
back out, the service door will not close.
9 Replace the drip tray and waste coffee container.
10 Close the service door.
Important Notes If it is still difficult to insert the brewing unit:
· Leave it out of the appliance. · Place the drip tray, close the service
door. · Switch the main switch on the back of the appliance to off’ and then to
on’ again. · Wait for all the lights to go off. · Open the service door
and remove the drip tray, then replace the brewing unit. · Replace the drip
tray together with the waste coffee container. · Close the service door.

Cleaning the milk container
Always clean the tubes inside the milk container when you prepare milk.
· The milk container and its components can be washed in a dishwasher. Please place them in the top basket.
· If there is still milk in the container, do not leave it out of the refrigerator for longer than 15 minutes.
· Clean the container each time you prepare milk as described on page 21. Clean the milk container nozzles.
1 Turn the milk container

4 Remove the frothed milk regulator by pulling it outwards.
5 Wash all the components thoroughly with hot
water and mild washing-up liquid. Make sure there are no milk residues in the
groove (A) of the frothed milk regulator.

on the milk container lid.
7 Check that the intake tube and spout are not
clogged with milk residues.
8 Replace the frothed milk regulator, milk spout and intake tube. 9 Replace

position (A) on diagram (1); placing it onto the
container then turning anti-clockwise.

Cleaning the milk dispenser pipe, hot water and coffee dispenser nozzles
Clean the nozzles on the milk container every time after heating milk or
making cappuccino, otherwise, remains of milk may set hard.
Risk of scalding from steam & hot water escaping from the milk dispenser pipe.
1 Place a recipient
under the milk spout.
2 Press and hold
for at least 5
seconds to start
the cleaning function.

Do not release button until the progress bar is complete.

should not be left out of the refrigerator, for more than 15 minutes. To

Pour the contents of the descaler bottle into the water tank, respecting the instructions given on the descaler pack, then add water. If a tablet is used, let it dissolve.

Make sure that any splashes from the descaling product do not come into
contact with surfaces that are sensitive to acids, such as marble, limestone
and ceramic.
5 Put a container with a capacity of at least
2 litres underneath the hot water nozzle.

The descaling liquid runs out of the hot water nozzle.
· The descaling program automatically goes through a series of rinses and
pauses to remove limescale
deposits from the inside of the coffee machine.
· After about 30 minutes, the water tank is empty and the display shows

If the mill mechanism starts sounding very loud, this can mean that a small
stone from the coffee beans has blocked the mill mechanism.
PLEASE DESCALE!
Shows that the coffee machine is encrusted with limescale.
Fill the coffee bean container.
Consult LAMONA service line.
The descaling program must be carried out as soon as possible, see “Carrying
out the descaling program” on page 33.
CLOSE DOOR!
The service door is open.
Close the service door. If the service door cannot be closed, make sure that the brewing unit is correctly inserted, see “Cleaning the brewing unit” on page 29.
INSERT BREWING UNIT! GENERAL ALARM!
Someone probably forgot to put the brewing unit back in the coffee machine after cleaning it.
Insert the brewing unit, see”Cleaning the brewing unit” on page 29.
The inside of the machine is very dirty.
Carefully clean the inside of the machine, “Cleaning the inside of the coffee machine, on page 29. If the coffee machine still shows this message once it has been cleaned, please consult the LAMONA service line.

Trouble Shooting What might be the cause of…?
Before calling for advice please use this checklist. If the problem persists
after completing these checks, please call the LAMONA Service Line.
Things you can remedy yourself
Fault
Coffee is not hot.
The coffee does not have enough crema.
Coffee comes out too slowly. Coffee comes out too quickly. Coffee only comes
out of the spouts on the coffee dispenser.
The machine does not switch on when the On/ Standby button is pressed.
The brewing unit cannot be taken out for cleaning.
Water comes out of the spouts instead of coffee.
Ground coffee was used (instead of coffee beans) and the machine will not
dispense any coffee.
Cause
The cups were not pre-heated. The brewing unit is too cold. The coffee is too
coarsely ground. The coffee blend is not suitable. The coffee is ground too
fine. The coffee is too coarsely ground.
The holes on the spouts are blocked.
Solution Action
Preheat the cups by rinsing them out with warm water. See “Tips to make hotter
coffee” on page 15.
Warm up the brewing unit with the rinsing program before making coffee. See
“Rinsing” on page 15.
Turn the knob for the grind level setting one position anticlockwise. See
“Setting the grind level” on page 17.
Use a coffee blend suited to fully automated coffee machines.
Turn the knob for the grind level setting one position clockwise. See “Setting
the grind level” on page 17.
Turn the knob for the grind level setting one position anticlockwise. See
“Setting the grind level” on page 17.
Remove the dry coffee residues with a cocktail stick. See “Cleaning the inside
the coffee machine” on page 29.
The main switch on the right side of the appliance is not switched on, or the mains plug is not plugged in.
Check that the main switch is in the `ON’ position and that the power lead is plugged into the socket properly.
The coffee machine is switched on. The brewing unit can only be removed when
the machine is switched off.
Too much pre-ground coffee was inserted.
Switch the appliance off and remove the brewing unit. See “Cleaning the
brewing unit” on page 29. IMPORTANT: The brewing unit can only be taken out
when the appliance is switched off. Removing the brewing unit when the machine
is switched ON could seriously damage the appliance.
Remove the brewing unit and carefully clean the inside of the machine. See
“Cleaning inside the coffee machine” and “Cleaning the brewing unit” on page
29. Repeat the process using a maximum of 2 level measuring spoons of ground
coffee.
Pre-ground coffee was inserted whilst the coffee machine was switched off.
Remove the brewing unit and carefully clean the inside of the machine. See “Cleaning inside the coffee machine” and “Cleaning the Brewing unit” on page 29.
Coffee does not come out of the spouts on the coffee dispenser but out of the
service door at the side.
Milk is frothed up too much or too little.

The holes on the coffee dispenser are blocked with dried coffee.
Remove the dried coffee with a toothpick (See page 28).
The swing drawer on the inside of the service hatch is blocked and will not
move.
Wrong setting of the slider on the lid of the milk container.
If the milk is not frothy enough, the milk container may not be correctly in
place.
Carefully clean the coffee guide, particularly in the area around the hinges
so that these continue to move. See Page 7.
You can set the amount of froth on the milk to any level using the slider on
the lid. CAPPUCCINO (Very frothy) or CAFFELATTE (not so frothy).
Put the milk container correctly in place.
