OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Important! Read the user instructions carefully before use. Save them for
future reference.
(Translation of the original instructions).
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Read all the safety instructions and other instructions. Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in the risk of electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
- The term “power tool” in all the warnings below refers to mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered (cordless) power tools.
WORK AREA
-
Keep the work area clean and well-lit.
Dark and cluttered work areas increase the risk of accidents and injuries. -
Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gas or dust. Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes.
-
Keep onlookers, especially children, and pets at a safe distance when using power tools. You can easily lose control of the power tool if you are distracted.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
-
The plug on the power tool must match the PowerPoint. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use an adapter with withered power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
-
Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
-
Do not expose power tools to rain or moisture. There is a greater risk of electric shock if water gets into a power tool.
-
Be careful with the power cord. Never use the power cord to carry or pull the tool, or to pull out the plug from the mains socket. Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts.
Damaged or tangled power cords increase the risk of electric shock. -
If using the tool outdoors, only use an extension cord approved for outdoor use. Cords intended for outdoor use reduce the risk of electric shock.
-
If it is absolutely necessary to use power tools in damp conditions, use a mains connection protected by a residual current device (RDC). Using an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
-
Stay alert. Pay attention to what you are doing, and use your common sense when working with power tools. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention when using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
-
Use personal safety equipment. Always wear safety glasses or a visor. Depending on the type of tool and how it is used, safety equipment such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmets, and ear protection reduce the risk of personal injury.
-
Avoid accidental starting. Check that the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in the plug or battery, or lifting/ carrying the tool. Carrying a power tool with your finger on the switch or connecting a tool to the mains supply when the switch is in the ON position increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
-
Remove adjuster keys/spanners before switching on the power tool. Spanners or the like that are left in a rotating part of the power tool can cause personal injury.
-
Don’t overreach. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance. This ensures better control over the power tool in unexpected situations.
-
Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewelry.
Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothing, jewelry, and long hair can get caught in moving parts. -
If dust extraction and dust collection equipment is available, this should be connected and used correctly. The use of such devices can reduce the risk of dust-related problems.
USE AND CARE
-
Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the planned work.
The tool does the job better and more safely when used at the rate for which it was designed. -
Do not use the tool if it cannot be switched on and off with the power switch. Power tools that cannot be controlled with the power switch are dangerous and must be repaired.
-
Pull out the plug and/or remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or putting the power tool away.
These safety precautions reduce the risk of accidentally starting the power tool. -
Store power tools out of the reach of children when not in use. Never allow children or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
-
Keep the power tool properly maintained.
Check that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam and that no parts are incorrectly fitted or damaged. Check for other factors that could affect functionality. If the power tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. -
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control. -
Use the power tool, accessories, bits, etc., in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the actual working conditions and the work that is to be done. It can be dangerous to use power tools for purposes other than those they are intended to be used for.
SERVICE
Power tools must only be serviced by qualified personnel using identical spare
parts. This will ensure that the power tool remains safe to use.
RISK OF KICKBACK
-
Kickback can occur if the accessory jams.
If this happens the accessory is suddenly braked, which in turn forces the product in the opposite direction to the rotation of the accessory. -
If for example, a grinding disc fastens in the workpiece, the disc can be pulled towards or be forced back from the workpiece. The product can thrown towards or away from the user, depending on the direction of rotation. Grinding discs can break if they jam.
-
Kickback occurs when the tool is used incorrectly and/or with the wrong work methods, or in the wrong conditions, and can be avoided as follows.
-
Hold the product firmly with both hands and hold your arms in a position that prevents kickback.
Support handles should always be used to keep the tool under control. Kickback can cause the product to jerk backward, but the user can control this by taking the appropriate measures. -
Never put your hands near moving parts at the risk of personal injury from kickback.
-
Do not stand with any part of your body in line with the kickback trajectory. The kickback trajectory runs in the opposite direction to the movement of the accessory at the point of engagement.
-
Be extra careful on curves, corners, edges, etc. There is more risk of the tool jamming or getting stuck, which can cause kickback.
-
Never use toothed saw blades or accessories with saw chains. Such accessories are difficult to control and often cause kickback.
SAFETY WARNINGS FOR GRINDING, WIRE BRUSHING, POLISHING OR ABRASIVE CUTTING
-
The product is a powerful tool intended for polishing. Read all warnings, safety instructions, and other instructions. Failure to follow all the instructions below can result in the risk of electric shock, fire, and/ or serious personal injury.
-
The product is not recommended for grinding, steel brushing, or cutting. Do not use the product for anything other than its intended purpose — risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
-
Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Even if an accessory can be fitted on the product, there is no guarantee that it is safe to use.
-
Only use accessories with at least the same rated speed as the product.
Accessories that rotate faster than their rated speed can shatter and cause personal injury. -
Never use accessories with an external diameter or thickness larger than what the product is intended for. Using accessories of the incorrect size will make the product difficult to handle and cause the safety devices to malfunction.
-
Only use accessories with the correct size and shape of the center hole to fit on the product spindle. Accessories that do not fit correctly on the product spindle will not center correctly, which makes the product unbalanced and difficult to use.
-
Do not use damaged accessories. Always check before use that disc support pads, polishing bonnets and other accessories are not cracked or otherwise damaged. Do not use products or accessories that are damaged, or not working properly. When the accessory has been checked and fitted, hold the product at a safe angle and run it at maximum speed for 1 minute. If the accessory is damaged it will probably break during this test.
-
Use personal safety equipment for the actual working conditions and the job to be done, for example, safety glasses or visor. Use supplementary protective equipment, such as a dust filter mask, ear protection, gloves, and an apron if necessary. Use eye and face protection to stop chips and other particles that can be ejected when working. A dust filter mask filters dust and particles produced when working. Prolonged exposure to loud noise can cause hearing impairment.
-
Keep onlookers at a safe distance from the work area. Everyone in the work area must wear personal safety equipment. Fragments of workpieces or defective accessories can result in personal injury. ¢ Hold the power tool by the insulated grips when working in areas where the tool could come into contact with concealed electrical cables or its own power cord. Contact with a live cable will cause the metal parts on the power tool to also become life the risk of electric shock.
-
Lay out the power cord so that it cannot be damaged by rotating parts. Otherwise, the power cord can be damaged, or fasten and pull your hands or arms towards the accessory.
-
Switch off the product and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before putting it down. Otherwise, the accessory can catch on the surface and cause the product to move out of control, which can result in serious personal injury.
-
Do not start the product when carrying it at your side. Rotating parts can fasten in your clothing and cause serious personal injury.
-
Clean the ventilation openings on the product at regular intervals. The accumulation of metal dust can cause the metal parts on the product to become life — the risk of electric shock.
-
Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gas or dust.
Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes. -
Do not use accessories that require coolant. Water and coolant increase the risk of electric shock.
SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR CUTTING
- Do not press too hard when working, and make sure the disc does not jam or get stuck. Do not attempt to make deep cuts. If the disc is overloaded there is a greater risk of it Jamming, which can result in kickback or shatter the disc.
- Stand to one side of the disc without any part of the body in line with it. If at the point of impact the disc moves straight back in line with the body, it will in the event of kickback be thrown towards the body,
- If the disc catches or the movement is interrupted for any reason, switch off the tool and hold it still until the disc has completely stopped. Never attempt to remove the disc from the workpiece while the disc is still moving — this can cause kickback. Check why the disc is jamming, and adjust.
- Never resume cutting when the disc is in contact with the workpiece. Allow the disc to reach maximum speed and then carefully insert it into the cut in the workpiece again. Restarting the tool when the disc is in contact with the workpiece can cause the disc to climb, or kick back.
- Support large discs and workpieces to reduce the risk of kickback or disc jamming. Large workpieces often sag under their own weight. Support is required under the workpiece on both sides, close to the cutting line, and near the edge of the workpiece.
- Take extra care when plunge cutting in walls or other similar areas where you cannot see what lies behind it. The disc can damage concealed cables, or hit objects that can cause kickback.
SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR SANDING
Use the right size of sandpaper. Only use sandpaper recommended by the
manufacturer.
If the sandpaper sticks outside the pad it can catch and break up, or cause
kickback or personal injury.
SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR POLISHING
Do not allow any part of the polishing bonnet or its strings to rotate freely.
Tuck in or cut off extruding strings. Loose strings etc. can fasten in the
workpiece or your fingers — the risk of personal injury.
SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR WIRE BRUSHING
- Always wear safety glasses — wires can come loose from the brush, even during normal use. Do not overload the wires by pressing the steel brush too hard against the surface. Wires from steel brushes can easily penetrate through thin clothes and/ or skin.
- The brush must not touch any of the guards during the work. The diameter of the brush can increase when it is rotating.
SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
FOR GRINDING AND CUTTING
-
Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer, together with the guards intended for the specific model.
The guards on the tool will not work properly with the wrong type of discs. -
The guards must be correctly fitted on the tool and positioned so that only the smallest possible part of the disc is exposed to the user. The guards protect the user from a broken disc and accidental contact with the disc.
-
Only use discs for their intended purpose.
Never attempt to use cutting discs for grinding. Cutting discs can break if exposed to side loads. -
Only use undamaged disc flange nuts of the correct size and shape for the specific disc. The disc flange nut supports the disc and reduces the risk of disc shattering. Disc flange nuts for cutting discs can differ from flange nuts for grinding discs.
-
Never use worn discs from larger power tools. Discs intended for larger tools might not withstand the higher speed of the smaller tool — the risk of the disc shattering.
SPECIAL GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Do not allow persons under 16 years of age to use the product.
- The tool is not intended to be used by persons (children or adults) with any form of functional disorder or by persons who do not have sufficient experience or know-how on how to use it, in so far as they have not received instructions concerning the use of the tool from someone who is responsible for their safety.
