SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: Read all the instructions and safety instructions and familiarise yourself with the controls on the product before the gas cylinder is connected to the product. Deviation from these procedures can lead to fire, an explosion, material damage and/or personal injury. Save these instructions for future reference.

  • Disconnect the gas cylinder when the product is not in use.
  • Do not attempt to repair the product if it is damaged.
  • Never modify the product in any way- risk of explosion, fire, serious personal injury and/or material damage.
  • Do not point the nozzle at your face, body or clothes,
  • at other people or animals, or at flammable objects when lighting and in use.
  • Do not store in direct sunlight, or where the temperature can exceed 40°C.
  • Ensure good ventilation during use.
  • Make sure that the flow of gas does not come into contact with your skin or eyes.
  • Wear safety gloves and use suitable utensils when handling hot objects.
  • Avoid contact with hot parts.
  • Always place your work on a fire-resistant surface (refractory brick). If you are unsure whether the surface is fire-resistant, do not use it. Common brick and concrete can explode at high temperatures. Do not work on wood or metal surfaces. Always screen off your work.
  • Be aware that the burner nozzle tip can be extremely hot during use. Exercise particular care to protect yourself and others from accidental burns. Never use the burner nozzle on or near flammable substances. Exercise particular care around motor vehicles or other petrol driven devices and watch out for concealed fuel pipes and fuel tanks.
  • Always make sure that the burner nozzle is placed on a flat surface when it’s connected to a gas cartridge to reduce the risk of it toppling over. Make sure the burner nozzle is not directed towards adjacent objects that can start to burn when the burner is put down.
  • Always have a fire extinguisher or a bucket with water close to the burner nozzle and working area. Never dispose of gas cartridges in a fire. Place the gas cartridge in a place where you can reach it easily should it start to burn.

WARNING:

  • The product must only be used with a butane gas cylinder . Other types of gas cylinders can result in a risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
  • Check that the seals are tight and in good condition before connecting the gas cylinder.
  • Never use the product if the seals are damaged or worn .
  • Do not use the product near flammable substances or closer to adjacent surfaces {walls, ceiling etc.) than the specified safe distance.
  • The gas container must be replaced in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors, and away from naked flames and other sources of heat. Keep onlookers and pets at a safe distance.
  • In the event of a gas leak {smell of gas) take the product outside immediately, away from naked flames and other sources of heat, to find the leak. Checking for leaks must always be done outdoors. Only use soapy water to check for a leak, never a naked flame. Do NOT use the burner nozzle until you have rectified the problem.
  • The product gets very hot when in use – risk of burn injuries.
  • Never use non-approved fuel.
  • Do not puncture or burn the gas cartridge.
  • Store the gas cartridge out of the reach of children.
  • The contents of the gas cartridge are pressurised!
  • Store the burner nozzle and gas cartridge out of the reach of children.
  • Do not leave unattended when lit.
  • Only use butane gas for the burner nozzle.
  • The burner nozzle is supplied without butane gas.
  • Never attempt to use the burner nozzle as a cigarette lighter.
  • Incorrect use, repair or modification of the burner nozzle can result in damage to the product, damage to property or personal injury.

Connecting The Gas Cylinder

  1. Check before assembly that the control knob (3) is set to position – (turned clockwise all the way).MEEC TOOLS 016079 Burner Nozzle Instruction 3
  2. Hold the gas cylinder upright when connecting it to the valve (4).
  3. Placer the valve on the burner valve and carefully screw the burner on the valve, so that it is flush with the valve seals. Check that the thread has meshed correctly. Only tighten by hand. Do not overtighten, this can damage the container valve.MEEC TOOLS 016079 Burner Nozzle Instruction 4

DISCONNECTING THE GAS CYLINDER

  1. Check that the burner is extinguished before disconnecting the gas cylinder.
  2. Unscrew the gas cylinder from the valve clockwise when the burner has cooled.
  3. Store the burner and gas cylinder protected from naked flames and other sources of heat.
  4. Check the seals before connecting a new gas cylinder.
  5. The gas container must be replaced in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors. Keep onlookers and pets at a safe distance.

HOW TO USE

  1. Only use the product with butane with direct pressure.

  2. Check that the control knob-/+ (3) is in the- position.

  3. Shake the gas cylinder before use.

  4. Turn the control knob (3) anticlockwise 2/3 of a turn.
    Gas flows out through the burner nozzle with a hissing sound. Press the lighter button (2) to light the flame in the burner (1).MEEC TOOLS 016079

  5. Hold the burner in the vertical position when first ignited for 45 seconds to allow the burner to heat up before tilting the burner to another position. Failure to do so may result in a sudden increase in the flame.

  6. Adjust the flame by turning the control knob anticlockwise (+) or clockwise(-). The flame should be 13 to 19 mm high to avoid overconsumption of gas or it becoming unstable.
    In cold weather the flame becomes smaller. To achieve a bigger flame, let the gas cylinder reach room temperature before use. In cold weather there is a big risk of the flame going out if the burner is turned upside down.

TURNING OFF

  1. Close the valve after use by turning the control knob clockwise all the way.
  2. Check that the flame has gone out, that the burner has cooled, and that there are no other flames in the vicinity.
  3. Unscrew the gas cylinder from the valve clockwise when the burner has cooled.

MAINTENANCE

STORAGE

  • Remove the gas cartridge from the burner nozzle when not in use.
  • Never store with the burner nozzle attached to the gas cartridge.
  • Now store the burner nozzle and gas cartridge separately. Read other precautionary measures on the gas cartridge label.

WARNING!

  • Let the burner nozzle cool before dismantling and storing.
  • Store the burner and gas cylinder protected from naked flames and other sources of heat.
