SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Follow these instructions, the battery manufacturer’s instructions, and the instructions for other equipment used in the vicinity of the battery to reduce the risk of the battery exploding. Carefully read all instructions and warnings on the battery charger, the battery and the product that the battery will be used for before using the battery charger.

  • This product can be used by children from 8 years and upwards and by persons with physical, sensorial or mental disabilities, or persons who lack experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or receive instructions concerning the safe use of the product and understand the risks involved with its use. Do not allow children to play with the product. Do not allow children to clean or maintain the product without supervision.

  • Working with lead-acid batteries can result in the risk of personal injury and/or material damage. Batteries emit explosive gas during normal use. Read these instructions carefully before use.

  • The product is only intended for indoor use. Do not expose the product to rain.

  • The product must only be used for charging lead-acid batteries. Do not attempt to charge other types of batteries, they can explode and cause personal injury and/or material damage.

  • Never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.

  • Only use accessories recommended or supplied by the manufacturer. The use of non-approved accessories can cause fire, electric shock or personal injury.

  • Always pull out the plug before cleaning and/or maintenance to reduce the risk of electric shock.

  • Do not pull the power cord to pull out the plug. This can damage the power cord or plug.

  • Do not use the product if the power cord or plug are damaged. A damaged power cord or plug must be replaced by an authorised service centre or other qualified personnel to ensure safe use.

  • Do not attempt to dismantle or repair the product. Take it to an authorised service centre for inspection and/or repair, if necessary. Incorrect assembly can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

  • Do not use an extension cord unless absolutely necessary.
Unsuitable extension cords can risk causing a fire and/or electric shock. If an extension cord must be used, check that:

    • the plug on the e~tension cord 1s the same size and shape, and has the same number of pins as the plug on the product
    • the extension cord is in good condition and its wires are correctly connected
    • the cross-sectional wire area is adequate for the power supply to the product
  • Charge batteries in a well ventilated areas. Never use the product in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation.

    • WARNING: Risk of explosive gas.
  • Place the product at a safe distance from sparks and naked flames.

  • Place the product as far away from the battery as the charging cables permit.

  • Do not expose the product to rain or snow.

  • Never charge frozen batteries. If the battery fluid (the electrolyte) has frozen, place the battery in a warm place until it has thawed.

  • Never allow battery acid to drip onto the product when filling with liquid or checking the density.

  • Never put batteries on top of the product.

  • Never put the product directly over the battery that is being charged. The gas from the battery is corrosive and can damage the product.

  • Never allow the terminal clips to come into contact with each other when the product is supplied with power.

  • Never attempt to start the engine when the product is connected to the battery.

PERSONAL SAFETY
  • WARNING: Wear eye protection and protective clothing when working with lead-acid batteries.

  • Ensure that there is always another person within earshot who can come and help, if necessary, when working with or near leadacid batteries.

  • Make sure you have access to plenty of clean water and soap, in case you get battery acid on your skin, clothes or in your eyes. Wash immediately with soap and water if battery acid comes into contact with your skin or clothes.

  • Avoid touching your eyes when working with batteries. You can get corrosive acid in your eyes! If you get battery acid in your eyes, rinse immediately with cold, running water for at least 10 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.

  • Remove all metal objects from your body (rings, bracelets, necklaces, watch, etc.) when working with lead-acid batteries. If a ring or other similar item comes into direct or indirect
electrical contact with the battery terminals, the leadacid battery can produce a short-circuit current which is so high that the metal will melt. This can result in serious burns.

  • Do not allow tools or any other metal objects to come into contact with the battery. Metal objects can cause sparking or short-circuit batteries and other electrical devices. Sparks can cause explosions.

  • Only use the product in an open, well ventilated area.

  • Do not smoke or allow sparks or naked flames to come near the battery or motor.
    Batteries emit explosive gas.

USE

BATTERY CHARGING
WARNING!

  • Never charge a frozen battery.
  • Never charge the battery when tfte engine is running.
  • Always wear safety glasses when handling batteries.

The contact clips on the charging leads are colour coded, red for positive(+) and black for negative (-). Check which battery terminal is earthed (connected to the vehicle chassis).

  1. Connect the red contact clip to the battery’s positive terminal(+). Now connect the black contact clip to the vehicle chassis, at a safe distance from the battery and all the parts of the fuel system.
  2. Plug the charger into a power point with the correct voltage (see Technical data).
  3. When the charger is correctly connected to the battery it starts to charge according to the default values (charging current 2 A, battery type STD). The user can change the settings manually and such changes are saved in the memory and used for the next charging, unless the user changes the settings again.
  4. Stop charging by pulling out the plug from the power point. Stop the charging in an emergency by removing the contact clip connected to the chassis.
  5. To disconnect the charger, first pull out the plug, then release the clip connected to the chassis, and finally the clip that is connected to the battery.

MEMORY FUNCTION
The charger has a memory to store the settings. The charger will use the last saved settings in the memory the next time it is connected.
