  • Never allow persons who have not received sufficient instruction to install or use the product.

  • Check that the vehicle on which the product is to be transported has enough capacity for the maximum weight of the product. Information on the maximum praxis for the safe use, storage, and waste management of diesel fuel.

  • The product must be correctly and safely secured when transported in a vehicle.

  • If the product is lifted when it is fully or partially filled it must rest on a suitable frame or pallet.

  • Never leave the product unattended when filling or filling from the product.

  • Before filling the product at a petrol station, consult the staff for the correct procedure.

  • Do not store the product in or beside a house, or in an adjoining garage.
Store the product in a well-ventilated room at a safe distance from sources of heat.

  • Keep all areas where diesel fuel is stored or handled free from flammable material and flammable waste.

  • Spilled fuel must be immediately wiped up and taken care of. Absorption materials, rags etc. used for this purpose must be recycled in accordance with local regulations.

  • Make sure that the electrical cables do not get entangled, bent or clenched, and do not use the product if the cables are damaged, for example if the insulation is damaged and wires are exposed.

DESCRIPTION

Transport-friendly diesel tank with self-priming vane pump and fuel nozzle. The tank is made of UV-resistant polyethylene.

USE

PREPARATIONS
Some model are supplied for transport and packaging reasons without the hose and fuel nozzle fitted on the pump. Check before use that the hose is fitted and secure on the pump outlet and that the fuel nozzle with swivel coupling is fitted on the other end.

CONNECTION TO POWER SUPPLY
All models with DC motors are provided with connecting cables with clips of the jump lead type, which can be connected directly to a
12 V vehicle battery. Connect the red clip to the battery’s positive terminal and the black clip to the vehicle chassis. Switch the cables if the pump goes in reverse. Always disconnect the chassis connection first and connect to the chassis last. If the original cables are extended or replaced with longer cables, or if a plug is fitted, they must be approved for at least 25 A.

FILLING THE TANK
Make sure that the tank is well balanced on a level surface that can support a full tank.
No special equipment is required to fill the tank, but handle the filler cap with care so that impurities do not drop through the opening or fasten on the cap.

FILLING FUEL FROM THE TANK
When used for the first time there can be a short delay before the self- priming pump draws up the fuel.

  1. Start the pump and press the fuel nozzle trigger to let the pump drive the air out of the hose. After a short while the air will be exhausted and fuel starts flowing out through the nozzle.
    • During this first venting it is preferable to take the cap off the fuel tank and put the nozzle in the tank to avoid spillage and loss of fuel.
    • To fill the fuel tank on a vehicle or any other tank with fuel from the transfer tank the pump must be running and the trigger on the fuel nozzle held in. The automatic shut-off stops the fuel nozzle when the fuel level reaches the end of the nozzle.
  2. Once the auto shut-off operates, switch off the pump within 2 to 3 minutes to avoid overheating.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING!

Always disconnect the power supply before any inspection or maintenance.
The pumps require very little maintenance. The vanes in the pump gradually wear out in time and need replacing. To maximise the life span of the vanes clean the filters regularly and keep the tank free from impurities. If the flow of fuel is noticeably reduced or scraping or screeching is heard from the pump it is probable that impurities have been sucked into the pump. In which case the pump must be immediately stopped and cleaned, otherwise it can be permanently damaged. Check at regular intervals and if necessary clean the filter on the suction foot. The filter should also be checked and cleaned if there is a noticeable reduction in the flow of fuel. There is also a coarse screen mesh in the inlet to the red “Selecta” auto shut-off nozzle. This can be checked by removing the nozzle from the swivel.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The pump will not start

| Check that the power supply cables are correctly connected to the battery- red to positive terminal on battery, black to vehicle chassis.

Check that the fuse (25 A) under the pump cable cover is intact.

---|---

The pump still does not work after taking the above measures

| Remove the end cover on the pump and test the pump by connecting 72 VDC directly to the white and black wires.

If the motor sti l l does not work, unscrew the 3 screws on the pump head cover and check if rust, impurities or anything else is obstructing the rotation of the pump. Do not overtighten the screws when replacing, otherwise the cover can

clamp the rotor and obstruct its rotation, which will cause the fuse to trip.

The pump cables are overheating

| This can happen if the pump is running in bypass mode for longer than 3 minutes, or is supplied with power from an inadequate or insufficiently charged battery.

Avoid lett ing the pump run longer than 3 minutes without pressing the trigger on the fuel nozzle.

The cab les have been extended with cable with insufficient cross-sectional wire area . The cables and connectors must be approved for 25 A.

Screeching noise from the pump.

| Impurities have been sucked into the pump and fastened in its moving parts. Unscrew the 3 screws holding the end cover on the pump and lift off the cover. Clean the impeller vanes on the pump – there must be no impurities or particles between the edges of the vanes and the pump housing. Do not overtighten the

screws when replacing.

The pump stops when releasing the trigger on the fuel nozzle while the pump is running| ****

The non-return valve has jammed in closed position. Release the outlet hose from the pump. Operate the white plastic valve in the pump outlet by hand (press in and out) until it moves freely.

The pump runs but the flow of fuel is low.

| Remove the fuel nozzle from the hose, put the end of the hose in the opening in the tank and run the pump again.

If the flow is higher with a removed nozzl e, check that the hole in the nozzle is not blocked.

Replace the fuel nozzle if necessary.

The pump runs, but delivers no fuel.

| Check that the cables are connected with the right polarity- red clamp to positive, black clamp to negative. If they are the wrong way round the pump will run backwards.

Check that the suction foot on the pump is below the fuel level in the tank. Check that the suction hose is not bent so that it sticks up over the fuel level.

If the pump is new or has not been used for a long time, unscrew the fuel nozzle and stick the end of the hose in the opening in the tank to prime the pump.
