Read all instructions in this manual carefully before using your new 4 slice sandwich maker. Save these instructions.
Always use this appliance with a power outlet of the voltage (AC. only) marked on the back of the appliance.
This appliance is intended for non-commercial, indoors use only. Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use.
DANGER: Do not operate the appliance if: – the cord or plug is split, melted or damaged. – the appliance has malfunctioned. – the appliance has been damaged in any manner. If any of the above incidents occur, return appliance to the nearest authorised service center for examination, repair or adjustment.
DANGER: Do not under any circumstances immerse the power cord, or mains plug in water or any other liquid.
**WARNING:** Incorrect operation and improper use may damage the appliance or parts thereof, and cause severe personal injury.
WARNING: When operating the appliance, use handle grips only as some surfaces will become very hot whilst the appliance is in use.
WARNING: Do not place extremely cold / frozen foods or liquids onto hot cooking plates as it may result in excessive steam, spitting and spattering causing personal injury.
WARNING: Do not place the appliance in the dishwasher.
WARNING: After wiping or cleaning the appliance ensure that the unit is completely dry before using.
WARNING: Do not place the appliance on or near materials that could easily catch fire.
CAUTION: Do not use metal utensils as they may scratch the non-stick surface. Scratching of the non-stick surface is not covered by warranty. The appliance is suitable for use with wood, nylon and plastic utensils.
CAUTION: If using plastic or nylon utensils do not leave in the unit whilst hot.
CAUTION: Do not expose hot plates to frozen items as this may cause warping and/or other damage to the appliance.
CAUTION: Do not allow your sandwich maker to operate for extended periods without food present as this may cause damage to the non-stick surface.
CAUTION: Ensure unit has had sufficient time to cool before moving and or storage.
CAUTION: The unit must not be left unattended while it is connected to the supply mains. Unplug the appliance from mains before

- immediately after use
- when moving it to o storage and
- when not in use.
CAUTION: Keep this appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years old.
This unit is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the unit in a safe way by the person responsible for their safety, and understand the hazards involved.
Children should be supervised not to play with the appliance.
Do not use the appliance when children are in the vicinity.
Always turn the power off at the power outlet before you insert or remove the power plug. Remove by grasping the plug – do not pull on the cord.
This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
Do not place this appliance on or near a hot gas µDPe, electric element, heated oven or any hot surface.
Do not place the unit on top of any other appliance.
Do not permit the mains supply cord or plug to touch the contact plates or other hot objects, or allow the power cord to lay accross the appliance.
Do not allow the power cord of this appliance to hang over the edge of a table or bench top.
This unit must be used on an even, level and stable – preferably heat-resistant surface. Avoid using the sandwich maker on metal surfaces, such as the kitchen sink or a hotplate.
Never carry or hang the appliance for storage by the power cord.
Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or any sharp instruments for cleaning the unit. When the unit is cool to touch, the outside surface may be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth and then dried thoroughly. If necessary, a mild dishwashing detergent may be applied to the cloth but not directly applied to the appliance.
Immediately unplug the unit from mains power if malfunction occurs.
Any appliance that has been dropped or damaged should not be used until examined by an authorized service center.
If the mains supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its services agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
After use, wait for the appliance to cool down before moving or storage. Carry only by the handle.
This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; bed and breakfast type environments.
For additional safety, this appliance is recommended to be used on an electrical circuit containing a residual current device (RCD) with a tripping current not exceeding 30mA.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS

POWER SUPPLY CORD

Do not attempt to modify the power cord or plug in any way.
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
If the power supply cord is too short, do not use an extension cord. Have a qualified electrician or serviceman install an outlet near the appliance.

NOTE: Neither Westinghouse nor the retailer can accept any liability for damage to the product or personal injury resulting due to failure to observe the electrical connection procedures.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

Carefully unpack your appliance.
Carefully remove packaging around the appliance and power cord. Do not remove warning labels.
Wipe down contact plates with a damp cloth before use to remove any residue left from the manufacturing process.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Before first use, the appliance must be cleaned. Wipe the contact plates with a damp cloth to remove any residues left from the manufacturing process.

Shift in the lockable clasp (located on the handle) in an upward motion towards the top of unit to unlock the contact plates.
Grip the handle and lift the top plate upwards to a 90 degree position.
Wipe down the contact plates with a clean damp cloth and lower the top plate.
Plug the appliance into an A/C power (240v) outlet and turn on. Verify the power indicator lights illuminate orange and green to show preheating is in progress.
Once preheat is complete (approximately three to four minutes) the green pre-heat indicator light will switch off, indicating the product is ready for use.
Undo the lockable clasp and lift the upper plate. Place food onto the lower plate using wooden or plastic heat-resistant utensils.
Lower the top plate to make contact with the food and lock the clasp to begin cooking.
Once the food is cooked, undo the clasp and use the handle to lift the top plate. Remove food using wooden or plastic heat-resistant utensils. If additional cooking is to be performed at this time, please close the plates to conserve heat.
Once cooking is complete, turn the unit off at the power outlet and allow to cool before cleaning or storage.

NOTE: During the initial use of this appliance, some smoke may be produced. Please note that this is considered normal operation and once subsided, the smoke will no longer appear during operation. Please ensure this process is completed in a well ventilated area.
NOTE: The cooking time for different foods will depend on the type and thickness of the foods. Foods should be cooked thoroughly before consumption.
**CAUTION: Do not use this product to cook or defrost frozen food. All foods must be completely defrosted before cooking. th
CAUTION: Do not use metal utensils on this product, as they will scratch and damage the non-stick coating.
WARNING:** The cooking plates and metal surfaces of the unit will become extremely hot when in use. To avoid a burn hazard, wear heat resistant mitts or gloves and touch only the black portion of the Handle.

CLEANING & CARE

The unit is suitable for use with wood, nylon and plastic utensils. Do not use steel utensils as they may scratch the non-stick surface. Scratching of the nonstick surface is not covered by warranty.
Ensure the unit is unplugged before cleaning.
Allow the unit to cool thoroughly after using. Exposing the contact plates to cold water whilst hot may cause warping and/or damage to the plates.
When cleaning the non-stick surface, non-abrasive cloths and plastic bristle kitchen brushes may be used to remove stubborn food particles. Do not use abrasive cloths and cleaning materials as they may damage the non stick surface.
Wipe the outside with only a slightly moistened cloth ensuring that no moisture, oil or grease enters the cooling slots located at the front of the top plate. Do not use abrasive cloths and cleaning materials on outer surfaces as they may damage the finish of the product.
Do not immerse this appliance in water or any other liquid.

TROUBLESHOOTING

BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE

If the appliance fails to operate:

Make sure the appliance is plugged in correctly and securely. If it is not, remove the plug from the outlet, wait 10 seconds and plug it back in securely.
Check for a blown or tripped circuit breaker in your home. If these seem to be working correctly, test another appliance in the same outlet to ensure the outlet is working correctly.

IF NONE OF THE ABOVE SOLVES THE PROBLEM, DO NOT TRY TO ADJUST OR REPAIR THE APPLIANCE YOURSELF.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshoot your problem by using the chart below. If the appliance still does not operate correctly, it may be defective.

LIMITED WARRANTY

Nothing in this warranty affects the Consumer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law. The benefits to the Consumer under this Warranty are in addition to the rights and remedies of the buyer under any Consumer Guarantees. The Australian Consumer Law requires that we confirm that: Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Subject to Clause 1. the Seller warrants that Westinghouse branded products will be free of manufacturing defects and will perform to the Seller’s specifications subject to the following clauses.
The benefit of this Warranty extends only to the owner of the property in which the Products manufactured or supplied by the Seller are installed and used by the owner for the duration of the Warranty Period.
The Warranty commences on the date of the purchase of the product and continues for the benefit of the Owner for the Warranty Period. If within the Warranty Period a manufacturing defect is discovered in the Product. or the Product fails to perform to the Seller’s specifications as a result of some defect in material or workmanship in the Product. then the Seller will at its own discretion:
a.) Repair or replace the Product at the cost of the Seller. including but not limited to labour and travel costs. Goods repaired or replaced under this Warranty will be warranted for the remaining period of the Warranty.
b.) Refund the purchase price paid by the consumer.
The Warranty does not apply to Product that :
a.) Has failed due to excessive wear and tear beyond what is considered to be reasonable.
b.) Has been misused or neglected.
c.) Has been damaged accidentally or by acts of God including fire and flooding.
d.) Has been used or operated contrary to operating or maintenance instructions.
e.) Has been damaged by the Consumer or a third party authorised to act for the consumer in transit from the Sellers store to the Consumer.
In order to make a claim under the Warranty, the Owner must, where possible return the goods to the Seller’s store at the Owner’s cost. Proof of purchase must be supplied in all cases.
The seller will examine any returned Products and if the Seller determines that there is an apparent defect through no fault of the Owner, the Seller will:
a.) Make note of the Owner’s contact details including the Owner’s telephone number which the owner can be contacted during business hours, postal address and e-mail address.
b.) Make note of the defects reported by the Owner.
c.) Take back the defective goods from the owner and determine within a reasonable time through dialogue with the Seller whether the goods are defective.
d.) Advise the owner within a reasonable time frame whether it accepts or rejects the Product claim.
e.) If the Seller accepts the return of the Product, the Seller must arrange to have
i) The Product repaired or. ii) Replace the damaged or faulty Product or. iii) Refund the purchase price.
The Seller will not accept any returned Product which has not been returned strictly in accordance with this Warranty.
For the purpose of this Warranty:
a.) Australian Consumer Law means the law as set out in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
b.) Consumer means the Purchaser of goods from the seller.
c.) Consumer means a Consumer as that term is set out in section 3 of the Australian Consumer Law.
d.) Consumer Guarantees means the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.
e.) Implied terms means any guarantees. conditions. warranties or other terms implied by any Australian Commonwealth. State or Territory laws. (excluding the Australian Consumer Law) or the law of any other jurisdiction.
f.) Owner has the meaning set out in clause 3.
g.) Warranty means this warranty.
h.) Product means the Product/s bought by the Owner from the Seller that fall under this warranty.
i.) Warranty Period means:
i) In relation to Cast Iron Cookware: 3 Year Limited Warranty.
ii) In relation to Non•Stick Cookware: 3 Year Limited Warranty.
iii) In relation to Cooking Utensils: 3 Year Limited Warranty.
iv) In relation to Knives/Knife Block Sets: 3 Year Limited Warranty.
v) In relation to Stainless Steel Cookware:10 Year Limited Warranty
vi) In relation to Chopping boards: 1 Year Limited Warranty
vii) In relation to Small Appliances: 1 Year Limited Warranty
