Product Information

The Westinghouse lighting fixture is an outdoor lighting fixture that comes with a warranty against defects in material and workmanship for a period of five years from the purchase date. This fixture is designed to provide many years of beauty and service. The installation instructions and mounting instructions must be followed exactly as shown for the fixture to be safely supported. The fixture comes with a back plate, a cage, a cover, Philips head screws, and grounding screws.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before beginning installation, turn off the power at the circuit box to avoid possible electric shock.
  2. Carefully unpack the fixture and parts. Make sure all parts are included before discarding any packing materials.
  3. Remove cap nuts from the back plate and remove the universal mounting plate or crossbar.
  4. Secure the universal mounting plate or crossbar to the outlet box with outlet box screws.
  5. Place the back plate over the mounting screws and secure into place with cap nuts.
  6. Remove two Philips head screws from the top of the fixture cage and remove the fixture cover.
  7. Install lamp(s). Do not exceed the recommended wattage.
  8. Place fixture cover over fixture cage and secure with Phillips head screws.
  9. Turn the power back on at the circuit box.

Note that proper wiring is essential for the safe operation of this fixture. When cutting or drilling into walls or ceilings, do not damage electrical wiring, gas lines, or water lines. If any of the fixture or wiring components are damaged, do not install the fixture and return it to the place of purchase. For fixtures labeled for outdoor and wet location use, provide a water-tight seal between the fixture and the mounting surface by using silicone or similar caulking. If the installation instructions are unclear, do not proceed and contact a qualified electrician

FIXTURE WARRANTY

This Westinghouse lighting fixture is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for a period of five years from the purchase date. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied. This warranty does not cover acts of nature such as lightning damage, or corrosion and discoloration of components, nor does it cover damages caused through abuse, improper installation, surges in electric current, or acts of third parties. This warranty does not cover the costs of removing and re-installing the lighting fixture. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR OUTDOOR LIGHTING FIXTURE

NOTE: Carefully unpack fixture and parts. Make sure all parts are included before discarding any pack-ing materials (see figure 1).

WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY.
Read and follow instructions exactly as shown. If instructions are unclear, do not proceed. Contact a qualified electrician. Read all instructions before beginning. Proper wiring is essential for the safe operation of this fixture. When cutting or drilling into walls or ceilings, do not damage electrical wiring, gas lines, or water lines. If any of the fixture or wiring components are damaged, do not install the fixture. Return to the place of purchase. For fixtures provided with 75° C or 90° C supply wire warning only. (These warnings are provided on the U.L. label and on the fixture carton.) Risk of fire. Most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wires rated 60° C. Consult a qualified electrician before installing.

MOUNTING AND WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Underwriters Laboratories (UL) does not require all fixtures to have ground wires. These fixtures meet all UL specifications.

CAUTION: For fixtures labeled for outdoor and wet location use, provide a water-tight seal between the fixture and the mounting surface by using silicone or similar caulking.

  1. Turn off the power at the circuit box to avoid possible electric shock.

  2. Remove cap nuts (A) from back plate (B) and remove the universal mounting plate or cross bar (C) (see fig. 1).Westinghouse-6696400-Exterior-Wall-Coach-Light-Sconce-fig-1

  3. Secure universal mounting plate or cross bar (C) to outlet box (D) with outlet box screws (E) (if applicable).
    NOTE: For fixtures with an unassembled tail, follow steps 4 and 5. For fixtures with an assembled tail (or no tail) proceed to step 6.

  4. Screw center pipe (F) into the bottom of fixture cage (H).

  5. Slide tail (I), top break (J), and bottom break (K) over center pipe (F). Secure with a finial (L).
    NOTE: If no tail is desired, remove the round nut (G) from the bottom of the fixture cage (H) and replace it with a finial (L).

  6. Identify color coding of fixture wires (see fig. 2).

  7. Connect the black wire from the fixture with the black wire (live wire) from the outlet box by wire connector (M), and wrap the wire connector (M) with electrical tape for a more secure connection.

  8. Connect the white wire from the fixture with the white wire (neutral wire) from the outlet box by wire connector (M), and wrap the wire connector (M) with electrical tape for a more secure connection.

  9. Partially thread green grounding screw (N) into side hole (O) on the universal mounting plate or cross bar (C) (see fig.1).

  10. Wrap the grounding wire from the fixture around green grounding screw (N) leaving enough excess wire, then connect the excess grounding wire from the fixture with the grounding wire from outlet box by wire connector (M) (if applicable), then wrap the wire connector (M) with electrical tape for a more secure connection.

  11. Tighten the green grounding screw (N). Do not over-tighten.

  12. Tuck wires inside outlet box (D).

FIXTURE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place back plate (B) over mounting screws (P) (see fig. 1).
  2. Secure into place with cap nuts (A).
  3. Remove two Philips head screws (Q) from the top of the fixture cage (H) and remove the fixture cover (R).
  4. Install lamp(s). Do not exceed the recommended wattage.
  5. Place fixture cover (R) over fixture cage (H) and secure with Phillips head screws (Q).

WARNING
Turn off the electricity to the mounting site before beginning installation. Mounting instructions must be followed exactly as shown for the fixture to be safely supported.

CLEANING AND CARE
To clean, wipe the fixture with a soft cloth. Clean glass with mild soap. Spraying from chemical cleaners can discolor the finish of the fixture. Do not use scouring pads, powders, steel wool, or abrasive paper to clean this fixture.
