Care and Maintenance
Before attempting any cleaning or maintenance, always unplug the iron from the mains power supply, drain the water tank and allow it to cool sufficiently.
To remove any build-up around the steam holes, use a cotton wool tip dampened with methylated spirits. Wipe off the methylated spirits with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Instructions for Use Before First Use
Before connecting to the mains power supply, wipe the exterior surface of the
iron with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly. To remove any impurities that
may have occurred during the manufacturing process, test the iron on an old
piece of cloth, making sure that it is on the highest temperature setting
suitable for the material.
STEP 1: Plugin and switch on the iron. Place the iron onto the cloth and
then press the steam burst button.
STEP 2: Repeat this 2-3 times, waiting approx. 5 seconds in-between. Do
not immerse the iron in water or any other liquid.
Note: When using the iron for the first time, a slight odor and a small amount of smoke may be emitted. This is normal and will soon subside. Allow for sufficient ventilation around the iron when it is in use.
Filling the Water Tank
Caution: Do not fill the water tank past the max. fill mark; it is best
to check the water level when the iron is on the heel rest.
Warning: Never add descaling, aromatic, alcoholic or detergent products
to the water tank, as this could cause damage to the iron or injury to the
user.
Using the 2800 W Rapid Glide Pro
Ironing with Steam
The steam settings are ideal for removing creases from fabrics such as cotton and linen with ease.
STEP 1: Fill the water tank.
STEP 2: Plugin and switch on the iron.
STEP 3: Rotate the temperature control dial in a clockwise direction
until the desired heat setting is reached. The indicator light will illuminate
to signal that the iron is heating up; this will switch off once the iron is
ready to use. The iron will only heat up when the temperature control dial is
on at least the 1-dot setting.
STEP 4: Slide the steam control switch to the on position. The steam
setting can be switched off at any time by sliding the steam control switch to
the off position.
STEP 5: After use, rotate the temperature control dial to the ‘Min’ position and then switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply. Allow cooling thoroughly.
Note: Allow the iron to reach the desired heat setting before use; not
doing so may cause water to drip from the soleplate.
Warning: Never leave the ceramic soleplate resting on the fabric for
longer than 15 seconds.
Ironing without Steam
For removing creases from more sensitive fabrics, iron without steam.
STEP 1: Slide the steam control switch to the off position.
STEP 2: Plugin and switch on the iron
STEP 3: Rotate the temperature control dial until the desired heat
setting is selected.
STEP 4: Test the iron on a small area of the fabric to check that the
selected temperature is suitable; adjust if necessary.
STEP 5: After use, rotate the temperature control dial to the ‘Min.’
position. Switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply and allow
to cool thoroughly.
Steam Burst Function
For creases that are stubborn and difficult to remove, use the steam
control switch to select the desired steam setting; if necessary, press the
steam burst button for extra steam. Wait approx. 5 seconds in-between each
burst to prevent any water from leaking out from the steam holes.
Vertical Steam Ironing
The steam burst button can also be used to vertically steam curtains and
other hanging garments.
STEP 1: Hang up the item to be vertically steamed.
STEP 2: Slide the steam control switch to the off position.
STEP 3: Fill the water tank.
STEP 4: Plugin and switch on the iron.
STEP 5: Rotate the temperature control dial until the desired heat
setting is selected; the higher the temperature, the more powerful the steam.
STEP 6: Hold the iron approx. 15 cm away from the item and press the
steam burst button to remove any creases, waiting approx. 5 seconds in between
each burst
Water Spray Function
The water spray function can be used to help to remove stubborn creases on
heavier fabrics. It can also be used when dry ironing delicate fabrics that
cannot be steam-ironed.
To use the water spray function, hold the iron over the area to be ironed and
then press the water spray button.
Self-clean Function
The self-clean function removes limescale and impurities from within the
ceramic soleplate.
It is recommended to use this function on a fortnightly basis or more often if
the iron is used in a hard water area. For further details please see the
online instruction manual.
Storage
Check that the iron is cool and dry and that the water tank is empty before
storing in a cool, dry place.
Wrap the cord loosely around the iron; never wrap it tightly as this could
cause damage.
