Specific safety warnings for jigsaws
- Hold the power tool by its insulated gripping surfaces only when performing an operation where the fitted accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and shock the operator.
- Always connect the vacuum cleaner adapter provided to a suitable vacuum cleaner. Dust and chips generated while sawing wood or metal make the workplace untidy and may catch fire or explode.
- Wear a dust mask and safety goggles. Dust and chips generated while sawing wood or metal may be hazardous to health.
- Wear ear protection. Noise can cause loss of hearing.
- Keep the workplace clean and clean it regularly by removing the sawing waste. Untidiness at the workplace may cause accidents.
- Always use saw blades of the correct size and with the suitable holder. Saw blades which do not fit the saw’s blade clamping mechanism do not run properly and can result in loss of control over the machine.
- Never use blunt or damaged saw blades. Saw blades with blunt or misaligned teeth increase the friction and result in jamming of the saw blade.
- Inspect the workpiece for nails and other hard objects before starting work and remove if necessary. This may cause the saw blade to seize resulting in considerable force being exerted on the machine. For this reason it is very important to always grip the machine with two hands and to maintain a secure stance.
- Ensure firm footing when using the cordless jigsaw and reciprocating saw. Consider the possibility that the saw blade could snap or that the workpiece could slip or move suddenly after cut breakthrough; adopt a stance where this could not lead to injury.
- Do not touch the saw blade after making a cut and make sure the saw is in a safe place after finishing work. Saw blades can become extremely hot, especially when cutting metal.
- Keep hands away from cutting area and blade. Hold the saw with both hands. It is not possible to come into contact with the saw blade if both hands are placed on the machine.
- Do not reach underneath the workpiece. The guard cannot protect you from the blade underneath the workpiece. Always hold the shoe firmly against the work piece when working. After completing a cut, allow the saw blade to stop completely before pulling it out of the workpiece.
- Always hold the shoe firmly against the work piece when working. After completing a cut, allow the saw blade to stop completely before pulling it out of the workpiece.
