General safety instructions
Warning! If you do not obey these instructions, there is a risk of death or injury.

• Read the warning instructions that follow before you use the product.
• Make sure that you can stop the engine quickly in an emergency situation and that you understand and know how to use the controls of the product. Make sure that you can quickly open and release the harness strap.
• The operator is responsible to be aware of any risks. Make an assessment of the strain involved on the basis of the type of work and the use of the product, and plan suitable pauses.
• Never allow children or anyone who is unfamiliar with the product, to use it.
• Do not use the product if you are tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicine. This has a negative effect on your vision, alertness, coordination, and judgment.
• Never wear jewelry during assembly, operation or maintenance of the product.
• Vibration levels during use can deviate from the declared values, refer to “10 Technical data” on page 42. The following factors affect the vibration level:
  • Incorrect use.
  • Operation with unsuitable materials.
  • Inadequate maintenance.
  • Unsuitable accessories.
  • The attachment of the handle.

Safety instructions for assembly

• Make sure that the product is off before you assemble the product and cut the attachment.
• Remove the spark plug before you assemble the product.
• Use approved protective gloves when you assemble the product and cutting attachment.
• Make sure that the trimmer guard or the guard for the saw blade is correct and firmly fitted.
• Attach the harness to the product to prevent injury to the operator or others. Do not operate the product without a harness.
• The use of accessories not recommended by the manufacturer can result in serious personal injury.

Safety instructions for operation

• Never use the product if it is changed or defective.
• Examine the product for damage, cracks, loose fasteners or leakage. Never use the product if it is defective. Always replace damaged or worn parts.
• Do not use the product without an approved and correctly fitted trimmer guard or the guard for the saw blade.
• Do not rely on the trimmer guard or the guard for the saw blade will provide adequate protection from ricochets.
• Use approved protective boots with non-slip soles and comfortable fit, tight-fitting clothes, protective glasses, ear protection, protective helmet and vibration-damping gloves. Wear a hairnet if you have long hair.
• Only operate the product in daylight, or in good artificial lighting.
• Do not operate the product in ambient temperatures below 10°C.
• Do not overreach. Keep a stable position of the feet and a good balance at all times.
• Always hold the product on your right side.
• Hold a firm grip on the product with both hands when you use the product. Hold the cutting attachment below hip height. Do not operate with the cutting attachment more than 75 cm above the ground.
• Look around the work area to make sure that no persons, animals or objects have a negative effect on the safety of the operation of the product.
• Examine the work area. Avoid or remove loose objects that can eject or wind around the cutting attachment.
• Make sure that persons or animals keep a distance of a minimum of 15 m during operation. Always look behind you before you turn around with the product. Stop the product immediately if a person or animal enters the 15 m safety zone.
• Never start or run the engine in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas – inhalation of exhaust fumes is harmful and can result in unconsciousness and fatal injury.
• Always stop the engine and make sure that the cutting equipment does not rotate before you remove material that is wound around the blade or trimmer head. Stand in operating position until the blade or trimmer head has stopped completely.
• Take regular breaks during operation. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance.
• Keep your hands and your body away from the rotating parts.
• Do not touch the exhaust system or cylinder during operation.
• Overexposure to vibration can lead to circulatory damage or nerve damage in persons who have poor circulation. Stop the operation immediately and speak to your physician if you experience symptoms of overexposure to vibration. Such symptoms include numbness, loss of feeling, tingling, pricking, pain, loss of strength, and changes in skin color or condition. These symptoms usually show in the fingers, hands or wrists. The risk increases at low temperatures.
• If the product vibrates excessively or makes abnormal noise, it must be set to off position immediately and taken to your authorized service center.
• If the product is used often and/or for long sessions, a vibration-damping handle is needed.

Causes of kickback and ways to prevent it

• Kickback can occur when you use the clearing blade. If the clearing blade comes into contact with solid objects.
• The product is then thrown rearward out of control towards the user.
• Kickback can cause you to lose control of the product, with a risk of fatal or serious personal injury. Do not rely on the safety mechanisms on the product. Take suitable precautions to prevent accidents and personal injury.
• Kickback occurs when the product is used incorrectly and/or with the wrong work methods or in the wrong conditions, and can be avoided as follows.
• Hold the product firmly with both hands and hold your arms and body in a position that prevents kickback. Do not let go of the product.
• Avoid unbalanced and awkward positions when working. Never work above 75 cm above the ground. This gives you better control of the product in unexpected situations. – Only use a clearing blade recommended by the manufacturer. The use of other accessories can cause kickback.
• Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for maintenance.

Safety devices of the product
To do a check of the power switch

1. Start the engine. Refer to “4.4 To start the product” on page 39.
2. Let the product idle.
3. Move the power switch to the stop position and make sure that the engine stops.

Trimmer guard
The trimmer guard prevents a loose object to eject in the direction of the operator. Examine the trimmer guard for damage and replace if it is damaged. Only use the approved
trimmer guard.

To do a check of the centrifugal clutch

Start the engine. Refer to “4.4 To start the product” on page 39
Let the product idle.
Make sure that the cutting attachment does not rotate when the product idles.

Cutting equipment

• Only use trimmer heads, clearing blades and accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
• Examine the cutting attachment for damage and cracks. Replace the damaged cutting attachment.
• Make sure that the cutting attachment is correctly fitted.
• Always stop the engine before you do any work on the cutting attachment. This continues to rotate even after the throttle has been released. Ensure that the cutting attachment has stopped completely and disconnect the spark plug cap before you touch it.
• If the cutting attachment rotates at idle speed, speak to your authorized service center. Do not use the product until it is repaired.

2.6.1 Trimmer head
Use the trimmer head to cut grass. Do not use the product for other tasks than grass trimming and grass clearing.
2.6.2 Clearing blade
Use the clearing blade for thick weeds, coarse and wet grass, and brushwood with a diameter of up to Ø 13 mm. Do not use the clearing blade for any other tasks.
2.6.3 Saw blade
Use a saw blade to cut fibrous types of wood. Do not use the saw blade for any other tasks.

2.7 Safety instructions for maintenance

• Maintain the product in accordance with these instructions.
• Remove the spark plug before you do any maintenance to the product.
• The exhaust fumes from the engine are hot and can contain sparks. Risk of fire. Always let the product become cool before storage.
• Always stop the engine and make sure that the cutting equipment does not rotate before you move the product to another location. Move the product with the cutting head down to avoid leakage of fuel.

2.8 Transport safety

• Transport the product with an empty fuel tank.
• Let the engine become cool before you transport the product.
• Secure the product during transport.

2.9 Fuel safety

• Always handle the fuel outdoors or where there is plenty of ventilation.
• Fuel and fuel vapor are highly flammable and can cause serious injury when inhaled or allowed to come in contact with the skin. For this reason, observe caution with fuel handling and make sure that there is adequate ventilation.
• Handle the fuel at a safe distance from sparks and naked flames. Never handle fuel where there can be naked flames, such as smoking or sparks.
• Always stop the engine and let it cool for a few minutes before you refuel.
• Do not overfill the fuel tank. Tighten the fuel cap carefully after refueling.
• Never refuel the product while the engine is on.
• If you have spilled fuel on the product, wipe off the spillage and allow the remaining fuel to evaporate. Move the product 10 m from the place where you spilled the fuel.
• If you have spilled fuel on yourself or on your clothes, change your clothes and wash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel. Use soap and water.
• Regularly do a check for leaks from the fuel tank, fuel cap and fuel lines.
• Store the fuel in approved containers for petrol.

Assembly

**Warning! Before you assemble the product, you must read and understand the safety chapter.
Warning!** Remove the spark plug cable from the spark plug before you assemble the product.

3.1 To assemble the handle

1. Put the spring (A) in the bracket of the shaft. (Figure 2)
2. Assemble the handle according to the illustration.
3. Tighten the knob.

3.2 To install the trimmer guard

1. Put the trimmer guard on the gear housing. (Figure 3)
2. Install the screws.

3.3 To install the blade guard

1. Put the blade guard on the gear housing. (Figure 4)
2. Install the screws.

3.4 To install the trimmer line

1. Use a hex key (A) to lock the bracket. (Figure 5)
2. Use a socket spanner (B) to loosen the nut.
3. Remove the support cup.

3.5 To install the clearing blade

1. Use a hex key (A) to lock the bracket. (Figure 5)
2. Use a socket spanner (B) to loosen the nut.
3. Remove the support cup.
4. Assemble according to the illustration with the bracket locked. (Figure 7)
5. Rotate the support cup counterclockwise.

3.6 To install the saw blade

1. Use a hex key (A) to lock the bracket. (Figure 5)
2. Use a socket spanner (B) to loosen the nut.
3. Remove the support cup.
4. Assemble according to the illustration with the bracket locked. (Figure 8)
5. Attach the blade guard. Refer to “3.3 To install the blade guard” on page 38.

**Warning!** Never use the saw blade if the blade guard is not attached.

3.7 To attach the harness

1. Put on the harness on your shoulders.
2. Close the buckle.
3. Connect the product to the harness.
4. Pull the strap on the harness to adjust the weight of the product equally on your shoulders.
5. Adjust the harness until the cutting attachment is parallel to the ground.
6. Pull the harness release (A) forward to release the harness. (Figure 9)
7. For emergency release, pull the red quick release (A) firmly. (Figure 10)

Operation

Fuel
**Warning! Read and understand the safety chapter before you feel the product.
Caution!** Always refuel before use.

To mix fuel

• For best results and performance use 40 parts fuel to 1 part oil.
• Mix the fuel with good quality 2-stroke oil, intended for air-cooled 2-stroke engines. Never use oil intended for 4-stroke engines or water-cooled 2-stroke engines.
• Do not use oil mixed fuel that is older than 1 month. The oil mixed fuel can contaminate the carburetor.
• Store leftover fuel in a dark and cool area in an air-tight container.

To fill the fuel tank

1. Stop the engine and let the engine become cool.

2. Put the product on a flat and stable surface.

3. Clean the area around the fuel tank cap.

4. Shake the container and make sure that the fuel is fully mixed.

5. Remove the fuel tank cap slowly to release the pressure.

6. Fill the fuel tank.
   Caution! Make sure that there is not too much fuel in the fuel tank. The fuel expands when it becomes hot.

7. Tighten the fuel tank cap carefully.

8. Clean fuel spillage on and around the product.

9. Move the product 3 m or more away from the refueling area and fuel source before you start the engine.

To start the product
Warning! : Read the warning instructions in the safety chapter before you start the product. Refer to “2 Safety” on page 35.

1. Push the air purge bulb (A) 10 times until fuel starts to fill the bulb. (Figure 11)

2. Set the power switch (A) to the ON position. (Figure 12)

3. Move the choke lever (B) to the choke position.

4. Hold the body of the product on the ground with your left hand.

5. Hold the starter rope handle with your right hand.

6. Slowly pull out the starter rope with your right hand until you feel some resistance.

7. Reset the choke.

8. Pull the cord quickly and with force until the engine starts.

9. Press the start inhibitor and throttle control.
   Note! The choke lever automatically returns to choke position when you press the throttle control.

10. Use the throttle control to adjust the engine speed.

Note! To extend the trimmer line when you use the trimmer head, hit the line feed mechanism on the ground before you cut the grass. (Figure 13)

4.5 To stop the product

1. Release the throttle lock and the throttle control to stop the rotation of the cutting attachment.
2. Set the power switch OFF position to stop the engine.

Maintenance

Warning! Read and understand the safety chapter before you do maintenance on the product. Refer to “2 Safety” on page 35.
Maintenance schedule

Make sure that the saw blade or grass blade is attached correctly. Make sure that the saw blade or grass blade is sharp and not damaged.| X| |

To clean the product

**Caution!** Clean the product daily.

• Use a dry cloth or brush to clean the product.
• Use compressed air to clean the cooling fins of the engine.
• Use compressed air to clean the air filter.
• Remove leaves, grass or dirt from the area around the muffler.
• Make sure that the ventilation openings are free from leaves, grass or dirt.
• Use a wire brush to clean the spark plug.

Caution! Do not spray water over the product. The penetration of water can damage the engine and electrical parts.

To replace the trimmer line

1. Press the tabs on the sides of the trimmer head. (Figure 14)
2. Remove the trimmer line cup.
3. Remove the trimmer spool.
4. Insert the trimmer line in the grove on the trimmer spool. (Figure 15)
5. Tightly wind the trimmer line around the trimmer spool counterclockwise.
6. Attach the end of the trimmer line to the groove on the edge of the trimmer spool (A). (Figure 16)
7. Insert the ends of the trimmer lines through the groves on the support cup (B).
8. Install the trimmer spool to the support cup .
9. Install the trimmer line cup.
10. Install the nut.
11. Pull the trimmer line until it is placed.

To drain the fuel tank

1. Put a container below the fuel tank.
2. Remove the fuel tank cap.
3. Tilt the product and drain the fuel into the container.
4. Tighten the fuel tank cap.

5.5 To replace the air filter

1. Remove the screws from the filter cover. (Figure 17)
2. Remove the filter cover and the air filter (A).
3. Install a new filter and a new filter cover.
4. Install the screws.

5.6 To examine the spark plug
Examine the spark plug if the engine is low on power, isn’t easy to start or does not operate correctly at idle speed.
Replace the spark plug if it is necessary. (Figure 18)

• Use a spark plug of the correct type. Refer to “10 Technical data” on page 42.
• Refit the spark plug and tighten it with the supplied spanner.

5.7 To lubricate the gear housing

1. Remove the screw (A). (Figure 19)
2. Use a grease gun to fill the gear housing with lithium-based grease.
3. Make sure that the gear housing is 3/4 full with grease.
4. Install the screw.

5.8 To sharpen the line cutter

1. Remove the line cutter from the trimmer guard.

2. Put the line cutter in a vice and sharpen with a flat file.
   **Caution!** Make sure that you maintain the original angle of the edges.

3. Install the line cutter on the trimmer guard.

Transportation

• Make sure that there are no leaks or fumes. Sparks or open flames, for example from electrical devices or boilers, can start a fire.
•  Stop and let the engine become cool before you transport the product.
• Drain the fuel tank.
• Secure the product during transport.

Storage

• Make sure that there are no leaks or fumes. Sparks or open flames, for example from electrical devices or boilers, can start a fire.
• Empty the fuel tank before you put the product in storage for a long period of time. Discard the fuel at an applicable disposal location.
• Store the fuel in approved containers for petrol.
• Remove the spark plug before you store the product.
• Keep the product in a dry and frost-free area.
• Do not let brake fluid, petrol, oil-based products, or penetrating oils come close to plastic parts.
• Do not store the product with corrosive substances, such as salt and fertilizer.

Disposal

To discard the product

• Make sure that you follow the local regulations when you discard the product. Do not burn the product.
