8-1 Function Table of RAID Mode Switch:
Please change to NORMAL mode first before setting any other RAID modes.
8-2 Function Decription of RAID Modes:
-
RAID 0
RAID 0, also known as Stripe or Striping, is a method of combining the capacity of more than 2 hard drives into a single volume. And when data is recorded, data is logged to each hard drive separately. Each hard disk displays different data results, records or reads data at the same time, and the transfer speed is fast, which can significantly improve the overall disk access performance. But when there is a problem on one hard disk, other data on different hard disks also disappears, and the data stability is poor. Application of RAID 0 mode: RAID 0 mode can be used when large-capacity, high- speed data storage is required. -
*RAID 02*
RAID02 minimum four disks, can set two groups of RAID0 at the same time, to each group of minimum capacity hard disk twice to form a volume for use, and in the data recording data will be recorded to each hard disk separately, each hard disk displays different data results, while recording or reading data, the transfer speed is fast, can significantly improve the overall access performance of the disk. But when there is a problem on one hard disk, other data on different hard disks also disappears together, and the data stability is poor. -
**NORMAL
** Delete previous RAID mode and reselect the new RAID mode. At the same time, the hard disks are in a normal and independent state, and they can write or read data independently, and the actual capacity that can be used is the capacity of 4 hard disks. If one of the drives is damaged, the other drives will not be affected.
-
RAID 5+0
With a minimum number of 3 hard drives, parity information on one drive will be spread across all drives. RAID 5 can be understood as a compromise between RAID 0 and RAID 1, with RAID 0 data read speed, but with an additional parity information, the speed of writing data is slightly slower than writing to a single hard disk. When a hard disk data is corrupted, the remaining data and the corresponding parity information are used to recover the corrupted data. -
*RAID 52*
RAID52 uses a minimum number of 6 hard disks, the parity information on one hard disk will be scattered across all hard disks, RAID5 can be understood as a compromise between RAID0 and RAID1, with RAID 0 data reading speed, but one more parity information, the speed of writing data is slightly slower than writing to a single hard disk. When a hard disk data is corrupted, the remaining data and the corresponding parity information are used to recover the corrupted data. -
BIG LARGE
The hard disk capacity is simply added together, turning several hard disks into one hard disk, the capacity is the sum of the capacities of several hard disks, and the maximum hard disk space can be obtained in this mode. -
*LARGE2**
The hard disk capacity is simply added, several hard disks are turned into one hard disk, and if 8 disks are full, the setting mode can produce two 4 disk capacity plus volumes. -
PM
PM mode is used independently for each hard disk in the computer’s operating system.
Supported Versions of Operating System:
OS operating system such as 32bit Windows XP/2000 only supports MBR format, so hard disks using this method can only reach 2TB. (Usage Example) Two pieces of 2TB hard drives with RAID 0, JBOD mode setting. (MBR Format)
2TB (2048.00GB), the remaining 1678.03GB is unusable.
The operating system of Vista, Win 7/8/9/10 supports GPT method which the total capacity of hard disks up to 128TB.
Two pieces of 2TB hard drives, 4TB (3725.91 GB) total capacity.
