Product Usage Instructions

  • Step 1: Mount the Main Controller Panel
    • Turn off the circuit power and the light switch.
    • To open the Main Controller Panel (A):
    • Pull the clear tape on the panel.
    • Insert a flathead screwdriver into one of the small notches along the seam. Slightly twist the screwdriver.
    • Remove the L L-shaped cover to reveal the terminal block for wiring.
    • Remove the Ceiling Plate by unscrewing the Wing Nuts (C).
    • If mounting with the Ceiling Plate:
    • Ensure that the wires are positioned through the hole of the plate with a suitable length visible.
    • Fasten the Ceiling Plate so that it is parallel to your desired panel alignment.
    • The Main Controller Power Wires (L) attached to the Main Controller Panel (A) can be connected with junction box wires using the included Binding Posts (H).
      • Black = Live 18AWG Input Wire
      • White = Neutral 18AWG Input Wire
    • Make sure the wires are secure and connected to the corresponding wires.
    • Position the Main Controller Panel (A) at the desired ceiling location and hold it against the ceiling.
    • Take a pencil and mark each screw hole on the ceiling.
    • Align and mount the Main Controller Panel (A) back to the Ceiling Plate.
    • Make sure the wires have passed through the Ceiling Plate and that the Main Controller Panel (A) sits secure and flat on the plate.
    • Secure the Ceiling Plate with the Wing Nuts (C).

Installation Instruction

Step 1: Mount the Main Controller Panel

  • Before you start, turn off the power of your main circuit.
  • Plan out your layout. Align and mark the panels of your desired layout on the ceiling.

  • Turn the circuit power and the light switch o before you start.
  • To open the Main Controller Panel (A)
    • A. Pull the clear tape on the panel.

  2. Position the Main Controller Panel (A) at the desired ceiling location and hold it against the ceiling.
  3. Take a pencil and mark each screw hole on the ceiling.

  • Now align and mount the Main Controller Panel (A) back to the Ceiling Plate.
  • Make sure the wires have passed through the Ceiling Plate and that the Main Controller Panel (A) sits secure and flat on the plate.
  • Secure the Ceiling Plate with the Wing Nuts (C).

  1. Using the provided anchors and screws, mount your Main Controller Panel in place with the four knockout holes in the corner of each panel.
  2. To mount the panel in place you can use:
    • A. Drywall Anchors (F)
    • I. Screw in the four Drywall Anchors (F) to the four spots you marked prior, OR
    • B. Plaster Anchors (G)
    • I. Drill a hole of 6mm (OD) then drive the Mounting Screw (E) into the Plaster Anchor (G).
    • Different mounting hardware will be required for installation on structural wood, concrete, and porous masonry surfaces. The correct items are widely available at hardware and home improvement stores.

Step 2: Connect Electrical Wiring

  • Insert the ceiling wires into any of the slots on the terminal block. Use your finger or a screwdriver to push the clamps when inserting. Make sure the wires are secured in place such that they cannot be pulled out.
    • A. Black = Live (L)
    • B. White = Neutral (N)
  • Remove any terminal block knockout holes as needed.

Step 3: Mount Expansion Panels

  • Add an Expansion Panel (B) and position it next to the Main Controller Panel (A).
  • Remove the knockout holes on all four corners, hold it against the ceiling and mark each screw hole with a pencil.
  • For each Expansion Panel (B), repeat the steps for mounting found on Page 9.
    • A. Drywall Anchors (F)
    • Screw in the four Drywall Anchors (F) to the four spots you previously marked, OR
    • B. Plaster Anchors (G)
    • Drill a hole of 6mm (OD) then drive the Mounting Screw into the Plaster Anchor.

Step 4: Connect the Wires

  • Thread the wires through the Grommet Cover to connect the Communication Linker (J) from the Main Controller Panel (A) to the Expansion Panel (B) through the linker slot.
  • Attach the Power Wires (K) to the socket closest to the next expansion panel. Follow the embossed line and wire through the opening to the next panel where the Communication Linker is attached.
  • Repeat this step for additional panels you add.

Step 5: Power On

  • Turn the circuit power back on and turn the light switch on to power the panels.

  • Your new Skylight panels will now power on at low brightness. Once the boot-up process is complete, the panels will gradually shift to full brightness to indicate that the system is ready for pairing.

  • Reinstall the L L-shape cover.

Step 6: Pair with the App

  1. Download the Nanoleaf App on iOS/Android.
  2. Pair the device by scanning the printed pairing code on the main controller panel or the printed QR code on the Quick Start Guide.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to complete pairing*
    • Press the reset button on the Main Controller Panel if the app fails to find the device.
  4. Once Skylight is paired to the app, you can now snap all the covers back on the panels. The clips should snap securely on all sides.
  5. You’ve completed the installation. Enjoy the possibilities and control of your new Nanoleaf Skylight panels!

The flexible cable and power supply cannot be replaced by another third-party product. If the cable is damaged, the entire controller and power supply should only be replaced with original equipment manufactured by Nanoleaf®. Using any non-approved replacement component will void the warranty and may present a serious safety hazard. The light source of this luminaire is not replaceable. When the light source reaches its end of life, the whole luminaire shall be replaced. Nanoleaf® light panels are primarily intended for decorative use, with an RGBW output function that can dim.

WARRANTY

Nanoleaf warrants that this device’s hardware components will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase, unless a different period is stated in or on the packaging of the product, based on up to 3 hours average working time per day/7 days per week, when used as directed (the “Warranty Period”). Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Warranty Period for all Energy Star-certified products is three (3) years from the date of purchase. This limited warranty only applies to the hardware components contained in the original packaging. This limited warranty does not apply to any software, even if packaged or sold with the hardware components. Nanoleaf does not warrant that the use of this device will be uninterrupted or error-free. If this device does not conform to this limited warranty, Nanoleaf will send you, at its election, a replacement device or refund your original price upon receipt of the returned device, register receipt and proof of purchase. Please reach out to our customer support to find out how to return the device. This limited warranty does not cover devices subject to accident, neglect, abuse, misuse or acts of God.
