Buttons and Functions

To turn off the radio, press the power button located on the front panel. The radio has various buttons and functions:

Safety warnings

  • Please read the following warnings to prevent fires, personal injury, damage to the radio or to the antenna.
  • Do not try to adjust the radio while driving, it is dangerous.
  • The supply voltage of this radio must be 12V or 24V DC.
  • Do not place the radio on an excessively dusty, wet or unstable surface.
  • Do not connect the antenna during transmission, risk of skin burns or electric shock.
  • Please keep your distance from devices that create interference (such as: TV, generator, etc.)
  • Those who use pacemakers are advised to keep their distance from the antenna during transmission and especially not to touch it.
  • Do not bring metal objects close to the internal electrical part of the radio, risk of electric shock.
  • Avoid exposing the radio to temperatures lower than -26°C and higher than +80°C. During the summer, the temperature inside a vehicle can exceed 80°C, which can cause irreparable damage to the radio in case of prolonged exposure.
  • Do not cover the radio with other objects, as this will prevent it from cooling down.
  • It is important to turn off the radio before starting the engine, to avoid damage caused by high voltage.
  • When replacing the fuse, use a 3A 250V type F fuse.
  • If an abnormal smell or smoke comes from the radio, turn it off immediately.
  • Do not transmit for a long time, the radio may heat up and malfunction.
  • Keep the radio away from children.

Buttons and functions

  • 1. EMG:
    • Press briefly to switch to emergency channel no. 09.
    • Press again to switch to emergency channel no. 19.
    • Press once more to return to the original channel.
  • 2. Transmission indicator (red LED) / reception indicator (green LED).
  • 3. A/F: AM modulation indicator (yellow LED) / FM modulation indicator (LED off).
    • Note: If the frequency band you set the radio to does not have AM modulation and you press the A/F key, the radio will remain only in FM mode.
  • 4. 6-pin microphone connector.
  • 5. RFG:
    • Short press to select RF Gain level. The default level “r0” appears on the screen. Press the Up or Down keys to reach the desired level (r0 – r7).
    • Long press to select ASQ level. The default level “A3” appears on the screen. Press the Up or Down keys to reach the desired level (A1 – A5).
    • Note: To select the ASQ level, you must first activate the ASQ function by pressing the center button on the microphone. When the ASQ function is active, the LED located above the RFG key lights up green. When the ASQ function is inactive, the LED is off.
  • 6. LED display.
  • 7. and 8. Up and Down keys for channel selection and RF Gain and ASQ level selection.
  • 9. SQ: Turn the knob clockwise to increase the squelch level.
    • Turn counter-clockwise to fully open the squelch.
    • Note: Before adjusting the manual squelch (SQ), disable the automatic squelch (ASQ) by pressing the center button on the microphone. The LED above the RFG key will turn off.
  • 10. Radio on/off button and volume control.
    • Turn the knob clockwise to turn on the radio.
    • Rotate in both directions to adjust the volume.
    • Turn the knob counter-clockwise to turn off the radio.

Reset

  1. Turn off the radio.
  2. Simultaneously press the PTT + ASQ keys on the microphone while restarting the radio.
  3. The icon “rE” appears on the screen.
  4. All settings have returned to factory values.

  1. Turn off the radio.
  2. Simultaneously press the PTT key + the Up key on the microphone while restarting the radio.
  3. The A/F LED lights up.

  6. Restart the radio or press the PTT key to exit the frequency band selection mode.
