Product Usage Instructions

1. Check the compatibility of the THAR-VW1 with your Volkswagen Golf-R Push-to-Start model from 2015-2018.
2. Ensure that you have the required parts for installation, including the vehicle key, relay for parking lights, and diodes.
3. Install the safety elements, including the hood pin switch, as per the mandatory installation requirements. This is essential for proper functioning and security.
4. Use the FLASH LINK UPDATER or FLASH LINK MOBILE tool (sold separately) to add the firmware version and options to the THAR-VW1.
5. Program the bypass option by setting the function A11 to OFF if your vehicle is not equipped with a functional hood pin.
6. Connect the THAR-VW1 unit using the provided wiring diagram and instructions.
7. Make sure to connect the THAR-VW1 to the appropriate connectors such as the OBD-II connector, parking lights switch, ignition, brake control, etc.
8. If using a data-link connection, follow the instructions for direct connection or cut the wires as necessary.
9. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to avoid any electrical issues.

INSTALLATION THAR-VW1

DESCRIPTION

1. Under the steeing column
2. Under steering column cover.
3. VESCM – Electrical System Control Module under dash driver side, above Driver Kick Panel
4. OBD-II connector
5. Parking lights switch
6. Under the hood, at starter relay

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WIRING CONNECTION

MANUAL TRANSMISSION WIRING CONNECTION

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE

1. Press hold Connect and the programming button: the 4-PIN Data-link harness (Black connector).
   The Blue, Red, Yellow and Blue & Red LEDs will alternatively illuminate.

2. Release the programming button when the LED is BLUE.
   If the LED is not solid BLUE disconnect the 4-Pin connector (Data-Link) and go back to step

3. Insert the required remaining connectors.

4. Do not press the brake pedal.
   Press the Push-to-Start button once to turn on the ignition.
   The BLUE LED will flash rapidly.

5. Press the Push-to-Start button once to turn off the ignition
   The BLUE LED will turn off.

The module is now programmed.
