Product Usage Instructions
- Check the compatibility of the THAR-VW1 with your Volkswagen Golf-R Push-to-Start model from 2015-2018.
- Ensure that you have the required parts for installation, including the vehicle key, relay for parking lights, and diodes.
- Install the safety elements, including the hood pin switch, as per the mandatory installation requirements. This is essential for proper functioning and security.
- Use the FLASH LINK UPDATER or FLASH LINK MOBILE tool (sold separately) to add the firmware version and options to the THAR-VW1.
- Program the bypass option by setting the function A11 to OFF if your vehicle is not equipped with a functional hood pin.
- Connect the THAR-VW1 unit using the provided wiring diagram and instructions.
- Make sure to connect the THAR-VW1 to the appropriate connectors such as the OBD-II connector, parking lights switch, ignition, brake control, etc.
- If using a data-link connection, follow the instructions for direct connection or cut the wires as necessary.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to avoid any electrical issues.

INSTALLATION THAR-VW1
DESCRIPTION
- Under the steeing column
- Under steering column cover.
- VESCM – Electrical System Control Module under dash driver side, above Driver Kick Panel
- OBD-II connector
- Parking lights switch
- Under the hood, at starter relay

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
-
Press hold Connect and the programming button: the 4-PIN Data-link harness (Black connector).
The Blue, Red, Yellow and Blue & Red LEDs will alternatively illuminate. -
Release the programming button when the LED is BLUE.
If the LED is not solid BLUE disconnect the 4-Pin connector (Data-Link) and go back to step -
Insert the required remaining connectors.

Do not press the brake pedal.
Press the Push-to-Start button once to turn on the ignition.
The BLUE LED will flash rapidly. -
Press the Push-to-Start button once to turn off the ignition
The BLUE LED will turn off.
The module is now programmed.
