Indication
Crystals lapidated indicated as aesthetic piercing of dental surface.
Composition:
Glass crystals.
Instructions for use
- Perform the prophylaxis with appropriate pastes;
- Perform the isolation of the operative field, with cotton rolls;
- Perform the acid etching of the area where the crystal will be applied;
- Apply, over the metallic base of the crystal, a small amount of the adhesive material of choice of the professional.
- Put the crystal in position on the tooth, allowing that the adhesive or resin slightly flow over the edges of the crystal, in order to achieve a better retention;
- Light cure the material on all sides (in case that a chemical curing material is being used, wait until it completely sets).
Warnings:
The lapidated crystals may be bonded by different techniques with the use of adhesive material. For example, it is possible to use a resin for bonding orthodontic brackets, a flow resin or simply an adhesive (acid etching + adhesive). The technique and type of material are of choice of the professional. It is recommended that the chosen resin or adhesive discretely hold the edges of the crystal, for warranting a better retention. No wear of the dental surface is recommended. In relation to retention of the crystals after the bonding, note that crystals, when bonded to the teeth, are submitted to the masticatory efforts and the vicious habits of the patient, being subjected to displacements or fractures. A good retention of crystal will always depend on the patient care, in the sense of not submitting it to excessive efforts; and patient must be well advised about that aspect. Professional use.
