DESCRIPTION

Fiber Post is an intraarticular reinforcing post manufactured with a matrix based on fiberglass and epoxy resin. It presents high mechanical resistance, esthetics, translucency, and radiopacity. Its dual taper allows better adaptation to root canals without demanding greater wear of the dental structure. It can be used in direct or indirect restorations in anterior or posterior teeth.

COMPOSITION
Fiberglass and epoxy resin.

PREPARATION SEQUENCE WITH LARGO DRILL

INDICATION

Fiber Post is indicated for the reconstruction of teeth with high crown destruction and satisfactory endodontic treatment. It aids in the support and anchoring of restorations, providing retention and resistance to definitive restorative material (cases of direct restorations) or in core build-up (for indirect restorations).

POST SIZE
0,5/1

  1. Molars and pre-molars;
  2. Upper and lower central and lateral incisors;
  3. Case of partial loss of tooth structure;
  4. Reinforcement of non-vital teeth, weakened by excessive canal wear.

2/3

  1. Cases with greater mechanical stress (significant loss of tooth structure);
  2. Larger canals (with higher wear);
  3. Reinforcement of non-vital teeth, weakened by excessive canal wear.

MODE OF USE

  1. Perform the radiographic examination (periapical radiography) and check the quality of endodontic treatment and periapical health;
  2. Select the post according to the conduit diameter by positioning it on the radiograph of the tooth;
  3. Perform absolute isolation of the operative field;
  4. Remove endodontic filling from 2/3 of the root canal using appropriate instruments. Leave at least 3 to 5 mm of filling at the apex, ensuring an apical seal and avoiding bacterial contamination;
  5. Prepare the root canal with Largo drills corresponding to the diameter of the post. Avoid unnecessary wear;
  6. Make a periapical radiograph of the selected post within the root canal. Check in the image the preparation of the conduit, the adaptation of the post, and the condition of the remaining filling. The post must be perfectly adapted to the performed preparation, not presenting gaps between the end of the post and the filling of the apical remnant;
  7. If necessary, cut the coronal surplus post with a diamond drill in high rotation under refrigeration. Return to position for adjustment check;
  8. Clean the post with 70% alcohol and dry it;
  9. Apply Acid Gel (37% Phosphoric – Maquira) for 15 seconds inside the root canal and remaining coronary. Thoroughly wash and remove excess water from the canal with absorbent paper cones;
  10. Apply a layer of Silano Maquira on the entire surface of the post and allow it to dry for 1 minute. The post should be completely dry at the time of cementation;
  11. Apply the adhesive system (according to the manufacturer’s instructions) across the full extent of the conditioned root canal and light cure;
  12. Carry the resin cement in the root canal using appropriate instruments. If you prefer, cover the pot with the cementing agent;
  13. Insert the post into the canal. Note that the post must be inserted to the bottom of the prepared cavity and the intracanal portion of the post should be completely covered by the resin cement;
  14. Remove excess cement; Carry out the light curing of the cement (according to the manufacturer’s specification) through the surface and through the post;
  15. It is recommended to perform an x-ray to evaluate the final quality of the post-cementation

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Fiber Post is contraindicated to the following patients:
  • Patients with parafunctional habits;
  • Patients that have a coronary remnant less than 2 mm;
  • Patients with a tooth with no previous endodontic therapy or if the therapy is unsatisfactory;
  • Patients with hypersensitivity to the product’s components.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

  1. This product is intended for dental use only and must be handled in accordance with its instructions for use. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by different uses or incorrect handling.
  2. Restricted use for professionals specialized in dentistry, according to local legislation and with specific training for their manipulation.
  3.  The indication for use of the endodontic post depends on careful evaluation of the quality of the endodontic treatment, periodontal support, and periapical health of the dental element.
  4. Proper selection of post size is critical to the expected clinical results.
  5. Do not use the product if it is past its expiration date.
  6. Handling of the product must be carried out under absolute isolation.
  7. Small fiberglass tips may be exposed and injure the skin. Cutting the post can also expose sharp fibers.
  8. Use PPE when handling the product, including operator gloves and safety glasses, as fragments of the product may come loose during this process.
  9. Wear a mask and avoid inhaling the powder from the cut.
  10. Use forceps to hold the post.
  11. The cutting of the fiberglass post must be done with diamond tips in high rotation and under refrigeration. Do not use scissors or pliers.
  12. Avoid cutting it close to the patient’s face to avoid any accidents or discomfort with cutting residues.
  13. The posts must be free of oily soils, organic materials, or any other contaminating agents at the time of cementation to avoid adhesion failure.
  14. The use of dentin adhesives over Fiber Post is unnecessary and not recommended because the adhesive is a polymer with mechanical properties that are inferior to those of the post and resin cement, which produces an interface of low adhesive strength between the components.
  15. During the process of cementing the post previously silanized With Silano Maquira, direct contact with the cement promotes a gradient of favorable mechanical properties.
  16. Complete removal of the endodontic filling and absence of apical Sealing can cause bacterial contamination of the root canal.
  17. Fiber Post must be completely covered by the cementing agent or by the composite resin.
  18. In case of accidental swallowing or aspiration of the product, seek medical attention immediately.
  19. Keep out of the reach of children.
  20. Single-use product.
  21. Prohibited reprocessing. If reprocessed, may cause a change in product properties, failure after installation, loss of restoration, contamination, or root fracture.
  22. The patient should wear goggles during the procedure.
  23. In case of allergy, discontinue use immediately and advise the patient to seek medical attention.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT CONDITIONS
Store the product at a temperature up to 30 °C/86 °F, humidity up to 75 UR, in the original package and well closed. Keep the product protected from direct light.
