BEGA 77 162 Indoor And Outdoor Recessed Luminaire Brushed Stainless Steel
Product Information
The product is a luminaire with electronic components that are protected against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547. To achieve additional protection against transients, it is recommended to use separate overvoltage protection components. These components can be found on the website at www.bega.com.
The product consists of different modules with varying specifications:
- Module 77 162 K27: Colour temperature: 2700 K, Colour rendering index (CRI): > 80, Module luminous flux: 535 lm, Luminaire luminous flux: 68 lm, Luminaire luminous efficiency: 16.6 lm/W
- Module 77 162 K3: Colour temperature: 3000 K, Colour rendering index (CRI): > 80, Module luminous flux: 550 lm, Luminaire luminous flux: 70 lm, Luminaire luminous efficiency: 17.1 lm/W
- Module 77 162 K4: Colour temperature: 4000 K, Colour rendering index (CRI): > 80, Module luminous flux: 565 lm, Luminaire luminous flux: 72 lm, Luminaire luminous efficiency: 17.6 lm/W
Prior to installation, it is important to provide a proper foundation capable of accepting a maximum pressure load of 3,000 kg (~30 kN). The luminaire housing must be firmly concreted in on a firm subgrade to ensure stability. It is advised not to remove the desiccant bag from the luminaire housing as it is necessary for removing residual moisture.
Additional accessories available for this product include:
- Skid-blocking glass (product code: 14000653R) with the highest rating R 13 according to DIN 51130. Suitable for use in all public areas. Abrasion resistance according to EN ISO 10545-7 Class 3.
- Distribution box (product code: 70 730) with 7 cable entries for installation in soil.
Product Usage Instructions
- Ensure a proper foundation capable of accepting a maximum pressure load of 3,000 kg (~30 kN) is provided. The luminaire housing must be firmly concreted in on a firm subgrade.
- Do not remove the desiccant bag from the luminaire housing as it is needed to remove residual moisture.
- Choose the appropriate module for your desired specifications:
- Module 77 162 K27: Suitable for colour temperature of 2700 K, Colour rendering index (CRI) > 80, Module luminous flux of 535 lm, Luminaire luminous flux of 68 lm, and Luminaire luminous efficiency of 16.6 lm/W.
- Module 77 162 K3: Suitable for colour temperature of 3000 K, Colour rendering index (CRI) > 80, Module luminous flux of 550 lm, Luminaire luminous flux of 70 lm, and Luminaire luminous efficiency of 17.1 lm/W.
- Module 77 162 K4: Suitable for colour temperature of 4000 K, Colour rendering index (CRI) > 80, Module luminous flux of 565 lm, Luminaire luminous flux of 72 lm, and Luminaire luminous efficiency of 17.6 lm/W.
- Install the chosen module into the luminaire housing.
- If additional overvoltage protection is desired, visit the website at www.bega.com to find suitable components.
- Optional: Use the skid-blocking glass (product code: 14000653R) for increased safety in public areas.
- Optional: Install the distribution box (product code: 70 730) with 7 cable entries for convenient installation in soil.

Application
- Recessed location luminaire with low installation depth for flush-mounting installation in compacted surfaces, paths and open areas. Drive-over luminaire for vehicles with pneumatic tyres.
Please note: Luminaire must not be used for installation in road lanes, where the fixture is exposed to a horizontal strain due to braking, acceleration and change of direction. For walk-through public areas, we recommend skid-blocking glass – see accessories.

Overvoltage protection
The electronic components installed in the luminaire are protected against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547. To achieve an additional protection against e. g. transients, etc. we recommend separate overvoltage protection components. You can find them on our website at www.bega.com.
Safety
The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national safety regulations. Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified electrician. We recommend fuse protection via a residual current circuit breaker to be provided by the customer. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or installation. If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the manufacturer.

Notice prior to installation
- To accept the maximum pressure load of 3,000 kg (~30 kN) a proper foundation must be provided by the customer.
- The pressure load is transferred to the foundation by this luminaire housing provided at site.
- The foundation must be carried out on firm subgrade.
- In order to obtain a firm stableness, the luminaire housing must be firmly concreted in.
Installation

Position luminaire housing on the foundation (as described above) and fix it with enclosed or any other suitable fixing material. The electrical connection at the luminaire connecting cable must be carried out on site according to the protection class and safety class.

We recommend to use a distribution box 70 730 or 71 053.

Note correct configuration of the mains supply cable.
The phase is connected to the brown wire (L), the neutral conductor to the blue wire (N) and earth conductor at the green-yellow ( ) wire. After finishing the ground works remove protection foil from the luminaire cover. Tighten the screws in the trim ring -
evenly crosswise.

Torque = 4 Nm.
Please note
- Do not remove the desiccant bag from the luminaire housing.
- It is needed to remove residual moisture.
Replacing the LED module
- The designation of the LED module is noted on a label in the luminaire.
- The light colour and light output of BEGA replacement modules correspond to those of the modules originally fitted. The module can be replaced by qualified persons using standard tools.
- Disconnect the electrical installation.
- The LED module of this luminaire may only be exchanged by the manufacturer or by one of his assigned service technicians or a comparable qualified person.
- Clean dirt and deposits from key openings of screw head.
- Do not use a high pressure cleaner.
- Open the luminaire and clean.
- Use only solvent-free cleaners.
- The luminaire housing must be completely clean and absolutely dry.
- Replace LED module.
- Please follow the installation instructions for the LED module.
- Check all screws and threads thoroughly and grease them.
- Check the gasket and replace, if necessary.
- A broken glass must be replaced.
- Insert glass with gasket with stepped side turned upward into the luminaire housing.
- Make sure that the glass is correctly positioned in the gasket bed.
- Place trim ring onto glass step and tighten screws crosswise.
- Torque = 4 Nm.
Maintenance
Cleaning · Maintenance
- After installation, the luminaire should first be cleaned. Building dust, residues from contact adhesives, paint splashes and rust film must be completely removed.
- Never use high pressure cleaners and cleaning implements made of normal steel, steel brushes or steel wool because they cause extraneous rust to form.
- When using stainless steel cleaners, please read the directions carefully.
- Cleaning agents containing hydrochloric acid and chlorides should never be used.
- We recommend cleaning the luminaires regularly.
