HORMANN FSR 1 BiSecur Radio Radar Button

Safety instructions

Intended use

The radio radar button FSR 1 BiSecur is a non-contact transmitter and can be used

  • as an impulse generator for operators or
  • to operate electrical consumers (e.g. lamps).

This radio radar button, hereafter referred to as radar button, features a radio channel and can be operated via the BiSecur radio and the fixed code 868 MHz.
Other applications are not permitted. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper use or incorrect operation.

Safety instructions for operation

DANGER
Risk of deadly electric shock from mains voltage. Contact with the mains voltage presents the danger of a deadly electric shock.

  • Electrical connections may only be made by a qualified electrician.
  • Make sure that the on-site electrical installation conforms to the applicable safety requirements (100 240 V AC, 50 / 60 Hz).
  • If the device is permanently connected to the mains you must install an all-pole mains isolator switch with corresponding pre-fuse.
  • Switch off the radar button at the mains prior to any work and secure the button against unauthorized switching on again.

CAUTION
Danger through unintended activation of equipment The remote-controlled operation of equipment can result in unintended activation, for example, machines can be actuated.

  • Ensure that the remote-controlled operation of equipment does not result in danger to persons or objects or that these risks are covered by safety equipment.
  • Observe the manufacturer information for the remote-controlled devices.
  • The unintentional activation of machines must not be possible.

NOTES

  • Only use the radar button in dry rooms.
  • Avoid disturbances.
  • The radar range can be affected by
    • Size of the body (e.g. small or large hand) that is operating the radar button,
    • low ambient temperature,
    • metallic sub-surface or surroundings.
  • Observe the specifications and manufacturer information for the device to be controlled.
  • Do not modify the radar button.
  • Use original parts only.
  • After programming or extending the radio system, you have to perform a function check.
  • Local conditions may affect the range of the radio system.

Fitting

The choice of the fitting location affects the range of the radio signal.

  • Prior to fitting, verify that the radio signal can reach the system or the device from the equipment at the selected fitting site
    • Determine the best orientation, by trial and error, if required.

NOTE: Do not install the radio button in the swivelling range of a door or close to moving objects.

Initial start-up (see Figure 2 )

The blue LED flashes quickly. The radar button is ready for operation after the LED goes out.

  • See section 7

Radar range
The range of the radar button is approx. 10 50 cm. The range can be set via the R button and parameters 1-5.

Lighting
The illumination helps to improve radar button detection. The illumination can be set via the LED button and parameters 1-6.

Setting the functions

  1. Activate the desired function by pressing the R or LED button. The LED flashes in the corresponding colour depending on the set parameter.
  2. Change the parameter with short repeated presses on the same button. The LED flashes in the corresponding colour depending on the selected parameter.
  3. Activate the selected parameter by pressing and holding the same button. A successful setting is indicated by the corresponding LED colour flashing rapidly. The radar button will then return to the operation mode .
  • To abort the function setting: Wait for the timeout.

Timeout
If no button is pressed within 60 seconds, the radar button automatically switches to the operation mode.

Switching between the functions
If a function is activated, no other function can then be activated by pressing another button. There are 2 options for switching between the functions:

  1. Activate the current function.
  2. Wait for the timeout.

Teaching in a radio code (see Figure 3 )

HORMANN-FSR-1-BiSecur-Radio-Radar-fig-5

WARNING

  • Risk of injury during intended or unintended door travel Unintended door travel may occur while teaching in the radio code.
  • Pay attention that no persons or objects are in the system’s area of travel when teaching in the radio system.

1 radio code can be taught-in on the radar button. If a second radio code is taught-in, the first taught-in radio code is then deleted.

  1. Switch the hand transmitter whose radio code is to be inherited to Inheriting / Transmitting mode.
  2.  Press and hold the hand transmitter button whose radio code is to be inherited.
    • The LED is illuminated blue for 2 seconds and then goes out.
    • After 5 seconds, the LED alternates flashing in red and blue.
    • The hand transmitter sends the radio code.
  3. Press and hold the S button on the radar button.
    • The LED is illuminated blue for 2 seconds and then goes out.
    • The LED will flash slowly in blue.
    • If the radio code is recognised, the LED flashes quickly in blue.
    • After 2 seconds, the LED goes out.
  4. Release the hand transmitter button and the S button.
  5. The radio code of the hand transmitter button has been taught in to the S button of the radar button .
NOTE: You have 15 seconds to inherit / transmit the radio code. If inheriting / transmitting the code was not successful within this period of time, repeat the process.

Final work (see Figure 4 )

HORMANN-FSR-1-BiSecur-Radio-Radar-fig-6

Operation

Information on the learning behavior of inherited / copied radio codes

If you have inherited / copied the radio code for the S radar button from another hand transmitter and are using it for the first time, proceed as follows depending on your
product:

Garage door operator series 4, roller garage door operator series 2, receiver ESE BS HCP

  • Press and hold the S button until the LED flashes alternately in red and blue and the desired function is performed.

All other products

  • Press the S button a second time.
    • Movements inside the set radar range of the radar button will be recognised as a switch signal. A radio code is assigned to the switch signal.
    • Move in front of the sensor surface.
    • The LED is illuminated blue for 2 seconds (BiSecur radio) or red (fixed code 868 MHz).
    • The radio code is transmitted.
    • The illumination of the radar button goes out for the duration of the sending procedure.

Reset

All the factory settings are loaded and the radio code is newly assigned with the following steps.

  1. Press and hold the R button.
    • The LED slowly flashes in blue for 5 seconds.
    • The LED flashes rapidly in blue for 2 seconds.
  2. Release the R button. All factory settings have been loaded and the radio code newly assigned .
NOTE: If the R button is released prematurely, the device reset is aborted. The factory settings are not loaded.

Cleaning

ATTENTION: Damage to the radar button through improper cleaning Clean the radar button with a clean, damp cloth.

Disposal

Dispose of the packaging sorted by materials

Electrical and electronic devices must be returned to the appropriate recycling facilities.
