Installation of the Transparent Trailer Mirror
Part 1 | Attaching the Transparent Trailer Mirror to the windshield |
---|
1. Remove the Transparent Trailer Mirror from the protective sleeve and
ensure that the mirror and mounting arm are oriented as illustrated.
2. Remove the old mirror from the mount on the windshield as per the
manufacturer’s directions. Be sure to use the proper removal tool if required.
3. Install new mirror on to D-tab and tighten with a Phillips screwdriver.
Please call our offices and select option one if your mirror mount does not look
like the illustration.
4. Take care not to overtighten. Overtightening could result in damage to
your windshield.|
Part 2| Powering the Transparent Trailer Mirror
---|---
1. Connect the power harness to the plug on the mirror. Route the harness
across the headliner, down the A-pillar, and to the desired location in the
kick panel.
2. Ensure that the harness will not be pinched when trim panels are
replaced.|
Part 3| Wiring the Transparent Trailer Mirror
---|---
1. Connect the RED wire from the mirror harness to 12-volt accessory power.
2. Connect the BLACK wire to solid ground.
Chassis ground in the kick panel is recommended.
3. The GREEN wire can be used to trigger Video 1. Otherwise, the mirror will
always prioritize Video 2. Green wire can be hooked to a 12V+ switch or any
other signal wire required for the desired functionality|
Part 4| Function test of the Transparent Trailer Mirror
---|---
1. Connect the camera directly to AV2 on the mirror harness
2. Test mirror and camera by turning on ignition power. You should be able to
see the view from the rear camera after the mirror powers up.|
Part 5| Installing the Rear Trailer Camera Harness and Trailer Plug
---|---
1. Using the larger 20m (65 ft) cable harness, connect to the 4-pin connector
of the camera and run to the front of the trailer. We recommend running along
with the ceiling or under the body along with the frame.
2. Zip tie the cable up along the frame rails. Some trailers have holes cut
into the frame rail for factory wiring, try to follow these.
3. Make sure to use the male-ended plug for the trailer. (If the wrong one is
used the plug will not be correct for the camera.)
4. Connect the 4-pin harness(s) to the appropriate trailer connector|
Part 6| Installing the Vehicle Harness and Plug
---|---
1. Using the included template, drill a 1” hole facing the rear of the
vehicle’s bumper to mount the vehicle plug. Look behind the bumper or bumper
cover to make sure there is nothing on the backside of where the plug is going
to go.
2. Using the same template, drill two 3/16” holes for the mounting screws. If
you are using the online instructions and do not have a template, you can
insert the plug to mark your hole locations, remove the plug, and drill your
3/16” holes
3. Unwind your two 10m harnesses that are attached to the plug and feed
through the 1” hole.
4. Attach the plug to the vehicle by removing the 2 nuts and washers. Then
attach the plug to the vehicle and secure with the original washers and nuts.
5. Run the harness from the rear of the truck to the area where the mirror is
located. If you have a second camera mounted on the trailer, you will need to
run both harnesses.
6. Connect the 4-pin connector to the mirror harness 4-pin connector.|
