Minka Lavery 3860-695 Windward Passage 8 Light Island Chandelier

Product Information

The product is item#3860-xxx, which is a lighting fixture. The product comes with a mounting plate, ground screw, and mounting screws. Additionally, the product includes two sets of rods and a candle cover. The fixture wires are black or smooth, white or ribbed, and bare copper for ground. The house wires are black for hot, white for neutral, and green for ground.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before starting the installation process, make sure to shut off power at the fuse box or circuit breaker box.
  2. Remove the old fixture including the mounting hardware.
  3. Take out the new fixture from the packaging and carefully unpack it. Lay out all the parts in a clear space.
  4. Attach the mounting plate to the junction box using the provided mounting screws.
  5. Connect the fixture wires to the house wires:
    • Connect the black or smooth fixture wire to the black (hot) house wire.
    • Connect the white or ribbed fixture wire to the white (neutral) house wire.
    • Connect the bare copper fixture wire to the green (ground) house wire.
  6. Screw in the ground screw to ensure a secure connection.
  7. Attach the fixture to the mounting plate using the provided mounting screws. Make sure the fixture is level.
  8. Attach the candle cover to the fixture if required.
  9. Turn on power at the fuse box or circuit breaker box and test the fixture to ensure it is working correctly.

PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION (Fig. 1)

  1. Shut off power at the fuse box or circuit breaker box and remove the old fixture including the mounting hardware.

  2. Carefully unpack your new fixture and lay out all the parts in a clean area. Take care not to misplace any small parts necessary for installation.
    ASSEMBLING THE FIXTURE (Fig.1)

  3. Determine the desired hanging height and thread rods (F1, F2, and F3) to all thread (I) on the fixture body. Screw loop (H1) to rod (F1). Note: Carefully pass the wires through each rod as you assemble.

  4. Attach quick link (G) to loop (H1) and (H2) on the canopy (E). Carefully feed the wire through the loop (H1), quick link (G), and loop (H2).

  5. Position mounting plate (C) on the ceiling and mark the location of the two mounting holes. Drill holes in the ceiling and insert plastic anchors (A).

  6. Attach mounting plate (C) to junction box (not included) using mounting screws (B) (Size: #8-32N*L0.5”). The side of the mounting plate marked “GND” must face out.

  7. Secure the mounting plate (C) by inserting wood screws (D) through holes on the mounting plate and into plastic anchors (A).

  8. The support cable is provided to support the weight of the fixture while wiring. Align the fixture to mounting plate (C) and attach hook (P) on the end of support cable (N) into a slot located on mounting plate (C). Carefully allow the support cable (N) to support the weight of the fixture while wiring
    CONNECTING THE WIRES (Fig. 2)

  9. Connect the electrical wires as shown in Figure 2, making sure that all wire connectors are secured. If your junction box has a ground wire (green or bare copper), connect the fixture’s ground wire to it. Otherwise, connect the fixture ground wire directly to the mounting plate (C) using the green screw provided.

  10.  Tuck wire connectors neatly into the junction box and raise canopy (E) to the ceiling.
    COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION (Fig. 1)

  11. Place canopy (E) over the mounting plate (C) and secure with screws (F).

  12. Place candle covers (M) over sockets (L).

  13. Install (8) eight candelabra base bulbs (K) up to 60 watts each or CFL or LED equivalent (not included) in accordance with the fixture specification. —DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM WATTAGE RATING!

Your installation is now complete. Return power to the junction box and test the fixture.
